This is a true 97 production car, I can post the last 7 of the VIN if you want and you can go ahead and call the dealership for the option list and build date of the vehicle. Prefacelift cars came with navigation, but rare. Mostly the 750iL came with nav. My brother's 97 740i also has a tv system, just like my 98 750il did. I now have retrofitted a DICE KIT, C43 Radio, MK4 Nav and 16:9 Screen in my 750il.

I have a 2001 740i sport. It's an absolute blast to drive. Maintanace can be a little expensive depending on who does the work. I live in Washington, not many people are willing to work on it unless you give them time. I would highly recommend this car for anyone looking to get one.
The 740 1995 until 2001 is in my mind in top 5 best cars ever made. From 2002 until 2008 pure grade A shit.
I have a 94 540i would i get the same results with this tune ( xpipe catless etc..) ? what would you you suggest?

The pipes were just bought at a local auto parts store, 2.25" in size. The x-pipe is also just a generic 2.25" x-pipe. The rear mufflers are Remus, and they are not cheap in any way.
Yeah, they're getting old now but I still love the E38s. I'm working on my 750iL E38 project right now. I'll have a video up on that after the car is done.
If you would like a tune to go with it, let me know. I do DME tuning/reflashes for all years of 540i 93-2003, all 740i models from 93-2003, and am working on 750il tunes at the moment.

No, they're are 18" staggered set. I would prefer OEM M-parallels over these.

I had a set of real OEM m-parallels before that were chromed. I'm not a fan of chrome, I do have a set of OEM m-parallels laying in my back yard, which I'm going to sell as I longer need them.
They are replica of the OEM M-parallel wheels that come on the 99+ sport models. I have a few real m-parallel sets at home, but prefer to run 19" AC Schnitzer Type 2 on my 750iL.

We shot this video right after we installed Kiddo coilovers, complete suspension rebuild front and rear with lemforder parts, 3.15 differential from a 99-01 740i sport, modified the exhaust (deleted resonator, deleted cats, rehanged the mufflers up higher to fit the cutout in the bumper and installed an x-pipe),
Occasionally, yes. But they go away, for cat efficiency.
I'll be releasing OBD2 M62 and M62TU tunes very soon, which will include rear o2 sensor delete via software coding.

okay so i have a 2000 bmw 740iL that i’m going to make into a exhaust comp car. so far i have a cat delete,res and muffler delete. i’m wanting to put a tune on it that will make my exhaust pop a lot more (popcorn tune etc) something of the sort but i’ve done absolutely nothing with electronics on my car other than install a radio,speakers,amp and subs lmao so how would a beginner go about the process of making my car tunable and then installing the type of tune i want on the car.

In the 1997 models they didn't feature the GPS that is most likely a 1999 of 1998 because I own a 2001 BMW 740i

Suspension: all brand new lemforder bushings and KIDDO coilovers.
Are those knockoff rims any good? (can tell by the deep dish rears) I was thinking of buying a pair just like these.
They're alright, they hold up and work. If you have the extra money and can afford the real m-pars, go with that route.

+OfficialEpic222 Well most BMW's of this Era are a PITA to get a headunit in, that's the best possible option. Did it on my old ES300
+OfficialEpic222 It's called a cassette transport. Looks like a old cassette tape but with a lead attached. Slides into the tape bay and allows you to use it as an aux.
whats the whining noise e38s get when revving their exhaust? is their a way to fix? especially when at :17
That the noise of the actual engine winding down, not much you can do to fix that.

any low end torque loss with the larger piping? Looking to do a similar set up on a 540 but don't want to lose low end grunt. If so does the tune help with this?
You will lose a little low end grunt with the larger piping. That's something these cars can't really afford to lose, but if you can make some other hardware and software changes, it's possible to get some of it back.
We did not measure it up. I would say around 2.5-3" up front and 1.5-2" rear
This makes me want to sell everything that I own and get an 740..

I had a black on black 2000 with the M-sport package, Vavona wood, black out trim, the works. They truly broke the mold when they discontinued this car in 2001. I look for the exact same car in a 2001 with the wide screen nav and three spoke steering wheel. Another sought after model is the navy blue with two-tone blue and cream leather that has alternate piping (Blue piping on cream leather for the seats). I've only seen and driven the standard auto in this. M-sport is night and day different.

A little loud for my own taste in a 7, but I will say Remus are some of the better sounding aftermarket BMW systems I have heard. Great looking car and vid... What's that squeaking when you're rolling over those dips in the parking lot?

Such nice looking cars, this one particularly. Wish they weren't so unreliable though, never found one that didn't have a laundry list of things broken on it and those repairs are not cheap.
I run a repair shop and mainly work on BMWs and tune them as well. So for me repair are pretty much free.
I'd recommend the 750il as they're much more reliable.

3.0 v8 is pretty reliable as well, just much less power than the 4.4/4.0
I don't know wich planet you lived on but there are several healthy ones out there no matter what engine it has.
Unreliable cuz after their company-car-for-executives time, most have been sold for a few dimes to people unable to maintain them, and merely willing to buy themselves a large number of cylinders for nothing.

What have you done to your Suspension, and do you run spacers?
Suspension was all new meyle/lemforder parts.
Springs and struts were removed and Kido Racing Coilovers were installed with camber plates.
There were no spacers on the car in this video, but yes my brother does use them.

Straight pipes.
Pretty much muffler deletes with nice tips should be all about you can do for $200 or less. You can also do some nice magnaflow mufflers, for about $300-400 and still look good and sound nice.
The exhaust in the video would cost about $2000 to replicate.

You also then need to build a custom mid section to delete the resonator and cats. Also need to get a 2.25" x-pipe added in the place of the cats.
Only then will the sound be similar to what my brother's car sound like in the video. Probably be over or around $2,000 to replicate my brother's setup.
I also do the tuning for these ECUs/DMEs to improve fuel economy, delimit speed, raise rev limiter and most importantly improve hp/tq.

I already had mparallels on my 750il, i removed them. M-parallels come nowhere close in looks to the AC Schnitzer wheels.
