- It was pretty special to see this Toyota Supra Mk4 racing in the Endurance Racing Legends championship during the 2019 Monza Historic. I struggled to find information about its racing history but it probably ran in the 2006 French FFSA GT Championship under the GT2-class rules. It is powered by the 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo engine, now able to produce around 600hp, and linked to 6-speeds sequential gearbox.

The 1xxx hp drag Supra's are impressive and all, but I prefer to see what they could do around a circuit.
I like high hp supras, but I've reached the point of not clicking another 1xxxhp street supra on yt. But a circuit built monster? Got my attention there.
@@izzdin6228 I think what stops people from racing or drifting them is their weight.
@@HoodOnFire i see more drift built supras vs circuit built examples. But that just makes the circuit built ones that much more special. It's rare to see a circuit supra vs the more common 1k hp roll racer.
Edit: sorry for the reply. To answer your question, the weight is not that heavy for the mk4. Almost all circuit built supras have rollcages, & still doesn't weigh more than 1700kg. So weight is a non-issue.

I appreciate the supra and how rare it is. But man that Ferrari at the end, I cant get me enough of that 333sp v12 scream. One of the all time greats for sound.

It dominated MANY track racing championships in its day.... just go watch those. It was track raced and won championships LONG before it became known as a "drag queen"

It's one of them jack of all trades type cars. It looks good, it sounds good, relatively affordable, good handling chassis and an amazing engine. There's really not much a mk4 can't do

A stock clean MK4 supra gets sold for 100k+ easily this is a racecar WITH a JDM engine think when was the last time you saw a JDM engine manufacturer race car

love watching your videos bozzy, the quality of sound and picture is always incredible - you never let your fans down!
People say the supra can't handle well but yes it does even stock it's not bad (been on a track with one) . Bit of body roll but no understeer or oversteer it's pretty well planted and you just point it where you want it, kind of reminds me of my SW20. So I guess this gt2 car feels amazing to drive.
People who says that the Supra MKIV can't handle well (pure nonsense) should check its racing achievements (Drag racing, Touring car, Rallying, IMSA, Lemans, Super GT ...)
The only reason that the " Supras can't handle " stereotype came about; was in the early 2000's of RUclips, where people would mount 20"+ rims with extremely stiff low profile tires onto a MK4 with stock suspension, stock brakes, ruining the geometry completely and often also had huge laggy single turbo conversions...... then they complained that the car didn't handle.
I'm being serious, I remember those days very well, and tried pointing it out to people even back then. Alas, once the internet has its 'meme', it explodes beyond anyones ability to contain it.

This must be a real pleasure to drive on track, with two smaller turbo's to spool and get on the power sooner than a huge single - much like the standard twin turbo configuration which is a joy to drive on the road, first turbo - huge mid range - second turbo

It's quite a shame that the more well known racing Supras in the Japan GT and BPR GT were'nt powered by its original In-line 6 turbo engine but rather the In-line 4 turbo unit which was extensively developed in the prototype Group C & IMSA GTP racing class. Sadly, fans will never know how the racing Supra GT version would fare against Mclaren F1 & Porsche 911 GT2 if it was powered by the In Line 6 2JZ..

So so true man, respect for this comment, I was asking myself the same question since my early childhood, but I think the 2jz would be better for endurance racing and it’s just sad that they used the 3s gte at the time, could have been a rival for f1 gtr in Europe at lemans especially, after all a billet 2jz is a super light engine
Sony Gran Turismo made this Supra a legend and this car will be priceless one day.
Nope... GT featured GT500 Supras and some racing modifications were inspired by Le Mans Supra.
That's the only 2JZ inline 6 racing Supra. GT should better include some turbo NSX, considering that the first Honda special model was inspired by the Le Mans racer

funny how it's called Bi-turbo in the title but its not a Bi setup, just a twin turbo setup. Bi turbo means that the turbo's a staggered (one small frame, one large frame turbo) Twin turbo are two identical frames but distributed over an equal amount of cylinders. Lots of people make the mistake of not knowing how different forced induction setups are called and how they work.
Edit: a different name for Bi-Turbo is also known as "sequential turbocharged"

Yh this dosent seem to have so much wings as that and i think JGTC supra had a 2.0litre engine.

Yup good car, if only theyre supported by toyota at the time. They would be make a good entry for GT europan series or lemans. But too bad we can't see that anymore. The cost itself for race car build is pretty expensive for a personal costumer team. And toyota seems doesn't wanna help them. Its happened because theyre outdated cars and the cost for japanese manufacturer to go racing on europe its pretty expensive. Thats why we barely see JDM cars racing on GT series. This series is dominated by porsche and make them think twice for joining a race. A personal race team called rex engineering for Gallardo GT3 seems have the same problem considering theyre on europe

@@doc7000 Yeah and that for a motorsport fan is a big deal. Rally has kept my interest but almost all track classes have lost that little something.
Why miss them? They will always be around. Don't let green peace hippies fool you.... combustion engines are not going away. Gasoline isn't the only boom-juice around. We have PLENTY of alternative fuels, clean burning even, that we can use to fill our tanks and continue to make music into the future indefinitely.
We just need to make sure that the ignorant hippies don't get the chance to get rid of internal combustion engines with misinformed regulations before we can make the change.

You ever thought of a stationary cam series? Where you set a cam or hide (so no one will steal it) on a straight. Compile the clips so we can hear and see the car go down the straight. While also hearing cars in the distance!

Quite rare seeing a race/track Supra still using the 2JZ.
For the ones wondering why, it is because the 2JZ being an inline-6 is a long engine and the Supra is not a front-midship car. Meaning that the whole of the engine cannot sit behind the front axle. This has been solved by using the 4 cylinder 3S-GTE engine or the UZ V8 which has been done in GT500 class JGTC.
No it was because they wantd to tune a smaller engine.
It wasn’t a question of weight distribution it was because at the time Toyota has developed this 3s gte and the 2jz was a new engine, they wanted to enter fia bpr and lemans as well as jgtc so they didn’t have the time to develop the 2jz for endurance racing and they just made the decision to take the already tested 3s gte and they also saved around 50 kg with it
