Came to your video for some nostalgia and really felt it when I saw our helicopters doing long lines out of the sling yard. I was there from 2013 to 2020 as a mech with Columbia Helicopters. It is strange how every day in country I longed to get the fuck out. Now i miss the adventure and the danger.
I did my in processing at Manas, Kyrgyzstan in 2003-04 and 2010-11. Did go to Bagram once to catch a flight to Kuwait for R n R to the states. I was at Kandahar and Kabul.
Thanks. I sure wish I could show more of the funny weird stuff that happens out here, but 90% of the time there’s something that can’t be filmed or photographed.
I kind of miss Bagram. We had a Bhut on the Disney side in Camp Black Jack. It had a black couch out front. Lol Smoked Cigars every night. Good times...
I was there as a contractor 2005-7. When I first got there I thought I was in hell. Once I moved out of the tents into real housing it got better. Looking back on it now, it was one of the defining periods of my life.
Hehe good video ... We balkan people from Bosnia cant use mobile anymore but from 2009 i was in Cop Monti ... here is see u driving thru bagram and this is Columbian helicopters and on left side is now a New Infantry buildings and River Side :D i Sleep in New Infantry :D
Yeah, and now you don’t have to run for the bunkers in most buildings. I embarrassed myself hitting the deck in Grady DFAC. Everyone just stared at me.
Fall off the Map I spent the whole time in camp warrior back those huge clamshell tents. By the time the alarm went off and you got the the bunker, bam already full.
It depends on the time of year. We had one this morning, and 2 days ago. That’s a little unusual. Normally maybe 3 or 4 times per month in the colder months, and significantly more often in the summer, but it’s impossible to predict just how active this summer will be.
Great question. Top of the list would be Ecuador, if I can find something that pays adequately, because my wife and kids are there. I’d also love to work in Greenland, Iceland, Canada, China, Japan, and Korea. Any of those places for the quality of life and types of opportunities. I could see myself doing other conflict zone work, such as Iraq or Africa if a good opportunity comes up. Anyplace really, so long as the pay justifies the risk and there’s adventure to be had.
It depends on what sort of work. For places like Iraq and Africa as an electrician I’d network and try to get contact info for recruiters, and I’d put my application in with the big defense contractors. For Just about any other place, I’d run a bunch of searches on job boards such as Indeed. I’d search in the US site, leave the location blank, and put the country name and the job title in the search description. For example, I might look for “electrician Greenland” then “technician Greenland” then “electrical Greenland” and so on. I’d repeat the searches every few days. That is how I found my Antarctica job.
I really hope it is, in the positive sense of course.......heading back to Asia for Paddys Day, Bangkok for that one.....then Siem Reap for Angkor, and to Saigon again......Vietnam is a free holiday, so cheaper than other Asian Countries. This time a friend of mine from Belfair-WA will be along for the ride, we both need a trip away from the rain/winds/cold......having said that, i wouldn't mind spending Paddys in Seattle next year, Kells & The Owl and Thistle bars.......and then the rest down in Tacoma, never been drinking there, the amount of times I've been to Seattle. Over the 15 years going back to Seattle, I've noticed an element of upper crust snobbyness creeping in, maybe Tacoma is the alter ego to that, the way Seattle used to be......ah....the big Corporations
Check out Top of Tacoma. It might be getting a bit too popular, but it really is a geat spot. Also PSP (Puget Sound Pizza) and 1111. Though, it’s been a few years since I’ve gone out drinking in Tacoma, so the scene at these places may have changed. In Seattle I usually drank at Uber and the Tin Hat, but that was a decade ago.
I spent a few years with FGG. I hope that the Time Keeping Practice guy dose not ask you if you added the time to make this video to the end of your day.
They won’t let us do our time sheets until exactly 19:00, and sine their network is slow they end up stealing about 10 minutes from us every day. I doubt the time sheet auditors what to hear what I have to say about it.
There were back when the Philippines and Nepal governments banned their people from working in Afghanistan. Some of them stayed and tried to find illegal work. There was an estimate at one point of over 5000 people living illegally on bases in Afghanistan. I don’t know how accurate it actually was.
Depends on what country your electrician license is from. If you’re US or UK, 100k USD per year. If you’re Eastern European about $30000 per year. If you’re from anywhere else between 6k to 15k per year.
Probably documents. Paperwork with information the military doesn’t want in the landfill. Stuff that can’t be handed by personnel without a secret clearance
Each year things seem to get more difficult, though I do still see jobs being posted. Typically the best jobs require that you already have an active secret clearance, thought the majority of the LOCAP maintenance jobs only require a background check now. The key is persistence and including keywords in your resumé to get past filtering software.

I hear you. I feel exactly the same way.
Awesome, saw my old barracks at Camp Warrior.

That’s a pretty different itinerary than what most folks have. Times have changed I guess.
Love the opening man.... "it's a video smiling with sirens"
Thanks. I sure wish I could show more of the funny weird stuff that happens out here, but 90% of the time there’s something that can’t be filmed or photographed.
I'm sure man. That's for sharing what you can!

Nice. As shitty as Bagram was it was also kind of awesome.

I was there in 2020 then moved to Mez. Thanks bro!
the images of the mountains and the climate impact
Yeah, the local farmers are going to have a rough year. There hasn’t been enough snow this year. They will be struggling for water in the summer.
Are they still running burn pits there?
Thanks for the info you've provided so far. I'm heading there myself soon.
It does look better then it did 20 years ago lol at least you have buildings to sleep In now
This is September 2021. And Bagram is a Ghost City.
Yes, my videos provide a snapshot in time before Afghanistan fell to the Taliban
@@FallofftheMap Actually your video will age well with time

They changed the incoming alarm. I spent a few weeks there back in 2013 heading into the Stan, and leaving the stan.

Almost 2K - great job
saw you on reddit
How often do you guys get indirect fire?

Bagram al maktoum International airport✈
My soilder guy that is there, right now said that the rules are no video or recordings, no video chat. Is that true?
That was not true where I was. His location may be different
@@FallofftheMap ok, thanks! I enjoyed your videos.
What are some other countries you would like to work in future? Either for personal preference or work opportunity.

Wow, thanks so much for the fast response! How would you go about finding work in those countries then?

Love your blogs, BUT I must say afters pending BILLIONS of U.S. dollars in that cesspool time to pack up and let them fight it out.
I agree, but I also worry about how to withdraw without betraying locals that trust us and have bet their lives that we would keep our promises.
@@FallofftheMap History my uninformed friend, shows to never trust the promises made by the U.S. ( Remember a place called Vietnam??? )
Hopefully all goes well there, seeing the latest killings in Kabul
Yeah, I’m expecting it to be an eventful year...

please, do not go a way!
Bagram is already gone. US military pulled out and the looting has begun.
Are there any homeless people on the base?

How much does a Electrician makes a year in Iraq. ? Average it will help me a lot. Thanks
