John, I picked up a Yeti as well a couple of weeks back. I have alot of honey due’s and needed a second hand cutting them out. I also like design and thought well keep learning and just do it. Can’t wait to see you next video and follow your jurney. My dad was a millwrite who loved woodworking - and so do I. I am learning Vcarve Pro at the moment - cutting will comence shortly! As my dad and I say if they just don’t get you, smile and build it your self! Vision is in the eye of the beholder - just build it!
Thanks. Yup, she's a keeper. In this case, I think the logic might actually be true. From what I can tell, it will cost considerably less this way, so I'll more than pay for the router. The downside is that it will soak up more of my time. The upside is we'll get what we want.
"Why do you want more lights?" Me: "I don't understand the question." No seriously, I genuinely cannot think of a situation of why you would ever ask this. The only possible situation I can think of where you wouldn't want more light is if you were currently in pain because there was too much light.
I can be very firm. I've learned that many contractors have, shall we say, personality quirks. Our contractor didn't respond well to my being firm and that resulted in some of the issues. That being said, the majority of the work he did was of high quality.
John thats nice, u decided to do it all... trying with 2 Designers, schedule problem with a Construction company... ( an a impolite dud sayin no for an client askin for more lights LOL ) I got that u feel sting by it but - that blurred the video. Instead of "hooking" about the main dish .. what's the 1st project with the Router? Plan to make modifications on the router ? Would you search solutions / references? ( University's Furniture competitions or just google images LOL ? Either way, keep up the good work
The first project is the entry closet. I'm about 1/2 way down with that. It's not that hard, and it involves a shelf, a clothes rod, and a center support bracket. It's actually going to include some lathe work, as I have to use two rods to span the closet. Next up will be shelving for our pantry. That will be a much bigger project. And I don't have plans at the moment to make any changes to the router, but we'll see.
Absolutely. What I meant to convey is that it should be trivial for me to use a CNC router. And that using CAD to design the shelves and cabinets is not a challenge. Building, finishing, and installing are new skills I need to learn. Fortunately, I have a friend with those skills who will be helping me.
He's not horrible, but not perfect either. His work is very good and we're mostly happy with the work he's done. We have other friends with worse stories. Most of our issues are with him not finishing things. And getting other contractors to finish that work is taking forever because of high demand.
John, just saw this video... Great introduction and setup video. Thanks for posting. Looking forward to watching what you produce for your home.

Good on you, don't listen to the no-sayers.😊
I recently received a book from a colleague: "The obstacle is the way".
Great video 👍 John I'm so jealous and your logic convinced the wife let you buy it 😁, happy routeing and DIY

@@JohnSL another reason to " covert one's wife",☺️ only cost is the type of material to be used.

Great Video! What type of vacuum did you get for the smart bench?
it's a pain to get work done by contractors when you don't have a strong personality, I had the same problem recently.

I'm a machinist and woodworker. The skills involved are different.

UGH, Those none listening people.
Sorry, what did you say? 😉
What a horrible contractor. I hope I don't know them. 😆

Boring
I can see that. I wanted to keep this separate from my next video, which is making something with it.
