    Guide to get bonus levels:
    Bonus 1: Squash 5 enemies in training level without taking damage.
    Bonus 2:in the level for assembling the bird, gather 5 seeds, turn them into mushrooms, and hop on them without touching the ground.
    Bonus 3: in the second and final levels, kill 5 grasshoppers with blue berries while not missing a shot.

      You can also access Bouns 3 in the second level Tunnel Run by kill 5 grasshoppers with blue berries while not missing a shot. It's still hard, but not as hard as in the final level.

    This is really cool.
    I swear, when I was a kid, I remember some other kid claiming that this circus stage was real and they had played it but couldn't tell me how and I just wrote it off as an obvious lie like the Luigi in Mario 64 one.
    These kind of rumors were so common back then but for some reason it DID stick with me so it's just mind blowing to see that it was real all along.
    Only difference from my friend's story was that they said they entered a bonus levels via the second level (the underground ant hill one)
    It's really strange how obscure this still is. When I tried to Google for secrets to this game, all it came up with was that first one on the training level. Had to kinda dig to find this video.
    The first bonus level actually took me some time to get through as I didn't realize you could go outside of the ring xD
    All of these bonus levels just screams beta/debug/testing area but what is strange is how they are still tied to unlocking those last movie clips. I bet that must've puzzled a lot of kids back in the 90e cause there is very very little chance you'd ever trigger these requirements by chance.
    Hell, I'm playing the Danish localization of the game and even those 3 last vids are still translated despite their obscurity.
    Thanks for posting this video. It's nice being able to properly cross off this game as 100% completed :)

      I'm a bit like your friend, lol. I did the second requirement with the 5 mushroom jumps in a row as I just found out cause I remember it was the stage where the bird icon was displayed on top. I have no idea why as a kid I did it and I remember that huge jump going to the circus and being dumbfounded (didn't know much English as well). Thing is, it's really hard to reproduce afterwards cause you have no idea how you did it and as a kid you didn't give it any attention. It just sticks with you that even after 18 years I wanted to give some closure to this lucid dream I never confirmed. 😂. That's why missing pieces of the puzzle weren't shared across friends, cause we couldn't do it again. XD. How I miss those days, pure joy.

    You can tell when you're doing it correctly, because colored effect will surround flick.
    Red, Green, Purple and Gold just as you're teleported to the bonus level.
    At the start, you can see the first red effect at 1:56 - This was the first time a spider was squashed from a direct body slam, instead of being destroyed by the shockwave.
    In the mushroom sequence, you'll notice the first mushroom there was no effect. But 2, 3, 4, and 5 has the effect in the same order.
    Finally, when you're killing the grasshoppers with the superberry, the same sequence of colors can be seen for every grasshopper killed.
    It's a clever and subtle way of letting you know you're doing something. And it will also give a clear indication if you need to start over, from taking too long, or getting hurt in beteen etc.

    The 3rd bonus level is the less known to gamers, as getting them was extremly hard for kids. I have always wondered why the yellow seed had only 3 tokens available (leading 3rd token to Gold-berry mine plant, which is weirdly present only in one level), I hoped that in the 3rd bonus level there was a hypothetical Fourth Yellow Seed that could contain a plant-berry, perhaps in Beta version and with unprecedented mechanics

    The 2nd (and much more interesting) theory behind the Circus level (as you all see how it is detailed) is that originally it was scheduled as a real playable stage in game, and in particular was the "Boss Arena" for the City adventure, in fact back in the years many fans thought that fighting "Thud" the fly inside the rolling can was such ridiculous and boring Boss Stage, the plan was probably totally different during the development of the game, maybe with the idea of fighting into the Circus all the 3 flies, after the idea was scrapped, the Circus remained an unused stage, maybe for Beta tests and then purposed as Bonus stage

  • @earthandskyproductions8444

    The reason why the 3rd "Bonus" level looks so weird is because, it is probably just a sort of "Debug Room" scheduled by the developers, to test some basic elements and game mechanics, it was common in 90's that developers created some hidden debug mode which was present most objects, to make tests and experiments, the reason why the Circus level never appeared in the official game is a clue to support this theory. Probably originally the circus level should not have been present to the public in any way except through Hacking, and from Debug level it became in effect a Bonus zone, complete with enemies

    Very good. The easiest ways(Well it's not easy with the third but still easy compared to how it is in the video.)I've found to acess 2 and 3 are by growing the mushrooms by lining up the unplanted seeds next to the ones planted near the anthill in level 1 and killing four grasshoppers in level 2.

    I randomly entered one of the bonus levels from the underground anthill tunnel level on N64. For some reason I couldnt get to the goal via the umbrella, I remember spending an hour trying and it kept making me fall off. What would it have dont on N64 if it wasnt a clip?

      @TerminianHero  3 года назад +1

      Yeah. The way you have to find the bonus levels is already strange, but I have no clue why there's supposedly 11 enemies there. I wonder what would happen if you hacked the game to successfully get the medals in the bonus stages?
      Anyway, incase you were wondering I did actually get the N64 version of the game at some point, so I WILL be covering challenge mode someday. I just have no clue when.

      @@TerminianHero It's also curious that we have every seeds from the game within that level and the only ones we need are the Super Jump and the Propeller Plant. Maybe it's just a glitch

    • @gustavoneridesouza120
      @gustavoneridesouza120 3 года назад

      @@TerminianHero It's weirder the fact that you don't find any clues not even in the wikias, as if no one ever realized or had clue of what exactly it is. I not even knew there was a challenge mode for this game, tho.
