Is your uniform purple? Or a really faded blue? If it is purple why? Did some regiments have purple? I know so Pennsylvania regiment have Green and Brown uniforms with red facings but purple is new.

Poor NAVY BLUE DYE fades to VIOLET or PURPLE. During the American Revolutionary War these uniforms would not have faded to this color, they used INDIGO BLUE dye in authentic COATS..

The uniform is indeed purple. The Continental stores ran out of blue superfine by the time two of the companies of the 10th Massachusetts regiment's officers went to procure their allotment. All that was left was purple, and so that's what was received.
