I don’t want us to lose Jesus. He give us something that no other striker does. Look at min 68 where he’s tracking back like a fight back out of position to win a clean tackle and send us the other way. If we need to get another attacker we shouldn’t get rid of him
He's so creative in attack as well, as much as we need a proper target man we still need that creativity. Viktor Gyökeres would be perfect for arsenal he's strong and tall but also really creative and assist just as much as he scores
And he’s scoring. People don’t realise it seems he misses many more chances but the fact is it looks like that in the first place because he creates so many chances. He’s scored in about 4 of the last 6 games and is always involved in the creation of the goals.
People are going to expect a top striker in Jan and be sorely disappointed. I’d put money on a defender or even a mf before a striker, if we get anyone in at all.
Heck I’d even want a wing forward who can back saka up and can play down the middle too. We don’t play target man football.
Jesus can rotate with Toney(If he joins) and Saka. So he'll still be here.

Such dominance, we've really got to give props to Arsenal for their masterclass in the previous transfer window. To add 4 starters to a team that had already finished second in the league, and had 4 team of the year players. We're starting to see the vision they had. And we're still waiting for Timber to come back! He looked like the pick of the bunch out of the lot of them.
The injury to Timber set our rhythm back. We are still adjusting into a consistent run.

I'm tired of saying that Arsenal should've scored at least 4. They really do need to finish off their chances earlier. It would reduce their anxiety coming down to end of games especially if the opposing team is good.
The problem with our players is that they so one footed when it comes to finishing. A lot of teams know our players preferred foot and show them to the side of their weak foot you see it time and time again Odegaard has acres of space on the right and the defenders are all on his left and he takes it on his left and gets shut down and the chance goes same with Martinelli and Saka. The amount of chances Martinelli gets on his left but takes that touch inside to the right where all the defenders are. Another thing is we always seem to feel like we need to rush the shot from one touch when we can take that touch to set ourselves up. It’s frustrating to watch when it happens nearly every week creating so many chances any other team would have buried some of those chances we give up

Not only their anxiety, but the fanbase's anxiety, because I guess all those supporting Arsenal are more anxious than the players themselves, after a ton of opportunities not converted, just because they refuse shooting from afar.

The owners have been doing great themselves in the past few years. They deserve their flowers.
We need to win in anfield. Especially with that performance from us and them in the last game
I'll go against the grain and say we don't need a striker to replace Gabriel Jesus.
We need an alternative to him, yes. But, in that case, what we need is an upgrade to Eddie, not GJ. The reason our team plays the way it plays, it's in part due to what GJ does and I don't see Osimhen or Toney doing that. But sometimes, defenders read well Jesus's playstyle, or maybe he is injured, tired or in poor form. That is when a sub, with a diferent profile is going to be useful.
I would focus in strenghtening squad depth in the defensive block, specially the wingbacks and DM situation. We do not have replacements for White and Zinny (Kiwior is a huge maybe) and I don't trust Partey's fitness anymore. Attacks win games, defenses win titles.

Eddie upgrade is the only thing we need if he doesn't improve. Partey's fitness is frustrating. I like him so much. But we may not get to see the best midfield trio (partey, rice, odegaard).
Who do you think we can sign that can give us anything close to what Partey does?

Also notice that every club is having these injury problems. Some have attributed it to the increased overall game time. If that's the case, new signings are also likely to get injured often. Timber is an example. Do you think squads are just gonna get bigger as a result of this? I think so

I just compared Havertz game profile to Martenelli of last year when Mr. Havertz is at his best. Came here to here you say they were similar players. Yes Havertz is a ice cold performer when he gets going just as Martenelli is concentrated like a sniper or cnc machineist when it matters most.. I'm happy we are all beginning to see the player he is. I know the player having watched him two full seasons at Laverkusen - has many unexpected nuances to his game.

Frimpong would be a perfect Signing because its 40m and he is one of the best rb in the world. Also when Saka Inverts we have on the wing a perfect addition in attack. Would be one of the best transfers in our century
Yeah frimpong would ve a great signing him and timber that would be good..also timber can also play defensive mid which he sometimes did for ajax when they were one of the best teams in the world
I think the main priority for January should be getting one more defender first. At the moment we only have our starting backline plus Kiwior, and I know Tomi will be back in a few weeks but Timber’s return is still hard to predict, so only one extra player right now is not enough. Arsenal’s biggest strength is the defence so it we absolutely have to keep it from crumbling like it did last season.
I think we should get a replacement for Partey & Elneny with a worldclass midfielder.
I would keep Partey but play him sparingly till the Summer

Just wanted to give Brighton props for their defending. De Zerbi coached his squad to shut down each member of the Arsenal attack, knowing how we prefer to pass and shoot. There was one opportunity for Odegaard in the second half when he was in with a good chance, but he took a touch and had to move to the other side of the goal to get a (decent) shot in, that was saved. When up against an opposition like this, the better option is to shoot first time. The exceptions were the goals (Jesus being left open at the back post from Saka's corner when Havertz dragged the last defender forward and the lovely break to see Eddie assist Havertz) and Havertz heading over.
As for the continued Rambro conversation - yes, I'd like him to stay but realistically he's going to want to be #1 in an EPL squad - so if Newcastle AND Chelsea are desperate now, we should accept an offer in January, should it be big enough. If we're determined to make a purchase this January (and argue amongst yourselves as to whether that should be DM, CB, RB or whatever) and FFP is an issue then there's a good argument to gamble on Raya's fitness with Hein as backup.

Thanks for dropping the stats on big chance save rate, which Ramsdale leads in that. I said it before, a goal-keeper should save or win you atleast 9 points a season, if you want to win the league. If we get peppered with shots against Liverpool for instance, I don't see Raya saving us a point, like Ramsdale did. We need to be careful, before we sell Ramsdale, because we could selling the better keeper.
I can say last year I felt comfortable if ramsdale got in a 1 v 1 situation obviously a good goal is a good goal. But I felt ramsdale had a good chance at it regardless

But the difference between Raya and Ramsdale is definitely not big, even Ramsdale kicking out from the back is not way off, is definitely not bad, is just that Raya is better, so we need to look at the opportunity cost of errors that versus Raya saves, and Ramsdale is better at shot stopping. Raya has already made mistakes against Chelsea, Luton, and Newcastle, and could have cost us the game in the last minute against Sev. Remember is not just about being a good keeper, but is about adjusting to the pressure of playing for a big club, Onana can't handle the pressure, thus all those errors. Has Raya feeled you with confidence, that if he was peppered with shots in a game, he could win us the game? My point is valid, because we have messed up in the keeper department before, when we sold Martinez, instead of Leno.

Anytime we keep a clean sheet, it's because of saliba, gabriel, rice and white, but last season, we kept clean sheets mainly because of ramsdale, he was our last line of defence with how high we played last season and this season feels like, whenever a team gets past our defenders or beat our defense, it leads to a goal against us
Ask yourself why were there many shots at goal for Ramsdale to save?? Who cud hav allowed that pressure of shots? Cud it have been Goal keepers bad distribution rhat wud backfire? Or panic in defence? How come there are not as many shots to be saved now? Maybe Ramsdale created such pressure thru bad decision or distribution and rhe ball wud be picked by the opponents??

We couldn't win against any team that has fast wingers that can dribble 1 on 1 and play direct football this season,Fulham, Tottenham, Chelsea,Aston Villa and now we go away at Anfield vs Liverpool a team that are the most direct and they didn't score against Man Utd they will be frustrated and they will try to take out their frustration vs Arsenal ,i hope Arteta doesn't play Zinchenko at left back because they will target him all game .
I don't see any correlation of why we lost or could beat those teams... The 2 draws at home, one because of poor defending on a corner and a big mistake by Jorginho and the loss to Villa was because we didn't take our chances and the ref... if you actually watched the Villa game... our performance versus them to what they did to Man City was night and day... we were unlucky to not get anything out of that game

@@davidpryce5079 we cant - but seemingly they are still looking for a striker... the point i was trying to make was that we can't kick Jesus out of the team... anyways - i think Arteta wants options - and the reality is that Jesus is looking a little injury prone at times - and Nketia is not quite good enough for 1st team title winning charge.

It was actually Trossard who drifted out wide in that build-up phase to the second goal, playing the pass to Nketiah in space for him to set-up Havertz for the goal

Arteta has a bunch of young players who should have a greater potential development rate per year than older players. It's up to the coaching staff to execute and they seem to be doing just that. I think Martinelli's potential is the greatest of all of the Arsenal players.
I agree. Martinelli is a player would Arteta wants to convert to a CF similar to what Wenger did with Thierry Henry.

As much as I hate to displace Jesus from his role, I do think the team needs a striker that instills a fear factor in the opposition. The kind of aura that Bergkamp and Henry had. There's a reason why Pires and Ljungberg scored so many important goals in that era, the opponent gets sucked into paying so much attention to the main threat, they forget about the wingers.
Right now, everyone pays attention to Saka and Martinelli, and prepare for them. This lets Jesus and Havertz slip through the defense unnoticed. I think it would benefit Saka and Martinelli, as well as Trossard and ESR (when fit) to have a fear factor type striker that draws all the attention away from them.

Anyway, I don't think we'll sign a defender, I think Arteta will play Partey at RB if White needs a break. Also I think a swap of Toney for Eddie until the end of the season would work, for us anyway. Eddie Needs the experience of reliable epl starts, and I think he'd score goals at Brentford, while Arsenal would get a clinical CF who can impact games from the bench or cover for Jesus. Not much in it for Brentford though
