- It has arrived! UN Owen Was Her (which is not Death Waltz), but every measure it switches to a different cover!
My previous coverswaps intended to pay tribute to each particular song, but this project seeks to pay tribute to the entire Touhou fandom. What better way than to use the character and theme that every fan content maker has put their own spin on? This video covers everyone from the animators to the circles to the ironic remixers to the unironic remixers to the people who probably don't even know what Touhou is except that it has awesome music to the...well, you get the point. Maybe I'll do a director's commentary on this video.

Also, before anyone says "but that's Last Brutal Sister Flandre S, not UN Owen Was her!" Well yes, but LBSFS is itself a version of UN Owen so a version of that is ALSO a version of UN Owen! THE TITLE REMAINS TRUE

Oh, and before anyone asks about covers: If I did not include a cover, it's either because
1. Didn't know about it. This is very embarrassing but inevitable considering that UN Owen Was Her is likely the most remixed Touhou song out there!
2. Knew about it but didn't use it. With said reason being "I ran out of space rip."
3. Couldn't use it. Usually because of usage being disallowed altogether or because usage is disallowed without permission and I can't get permission.
Feel free to show me covers that weren't included - obviously the more the merrier - but uh, please don't say that I "forgot" them. It's a pet peeve.
(okay, to be perfectly fair I did "forget" one of the versions, that being the Birthday Card, which I only remembered existed until I was basically done with the video)

In this video alone, it switches versions (on average) every 3 seconds. This means that for the entire 6 minutes and 18 second video there are 126 versions of UN owen. There are likely also many unfound versions lying around, and several UN owens made since. That means there are likely more remixes of this song than there are Touhou characters.

I wonder why, from all of EOSD's tracks, this one got so popular.. And the memes pushed it even further beyond comprehension!
For the exact same reason Megalovania got so popular. It's catchy as fuck, so people actively want to listen to it and it plays in a bossfight that is not easily accessible and hard as fuck, so getting to listen to the track in game feels like an achievement.

@@vyllix8546 Yeah, I would say it's probably meme power in this case. UN Owen Was Her has gone way beyond the Touhou fandom, just like how Megalovania has gone way beyond Undertale. I would argue that a good deal of the people who know Megalovania haven't actually listened to it in the actual fight, and the same applies to UN Owen. So, essentially, it's a catchy song with funny meme attached.
The difference between Megalovania and UN Owen, however, is their connection in the general Internet to their original sources. Megalovania is inherently connected to, well "sans undertale." Undertale being right in the name. UN Owen and Flandre's connection to Touhou is a lot less present _in the general Internet_
Which is why I would argue that the Bossfight Theory doesn't apply to UN Owen - a good deal of those who have listened to it probably have never played Touhou, much less gotten to Flandre.
Dave Vader's theory DOES work for Septette for the Dead Princess though, if we're looking at the Touhou fandom specifically. Plus the general boost of it being from the ever-iconic EoSD.
The legend themselves has delivered
This feels like a journey through the history of youtube. YTPMVs Dubstep remixes Vtube and everything else in between.
That transition from what is sometimes acknowledged as the "un owen" section to the section sometimes acknowledged as "last brutal sister Flandre" and sometimes referred to as "death waltz" was perfect.
I wonder if there are people who dont know what touhou is and are watching this and seeing remilia and reimu and are now confused. On a side not this was amazing

If memory serves Eastnewsound does a new cover of U.N. Own was Her every year, by this point you could probably have done a version with just their remixes.
I picked the 1st Anniversary (the one with the most views) and also the first one for usage, but I tossed the original because I couldn't find a way to put it in. I don't know if I'm deaf or anything but I genuinely couldn't find any part that actually went in (and this is coming from the same guy who managed to put part of a completely different song in here).
This is simply a masterpiece, it almost made me emotional honestly. Bad Apple and all its remixes are an ultimate testament to the real, old internet. Thank you
