      I can attest that I salted my pond extremely with salt , every cattail was eliminated and the winter came and it froze solid .

  • @BruceLyeg
    @BruceLyeg 2 года назад +1

    You're no dummy, I knew it would work. I learned about what salt can do the first time I used a lot of it on our sidewalks. Come spring time, all the grass at the edge of the sidewalks was dead and stayed dead for awhile. It looks awfully tempting to just burn off the dead stuff. But then I'd be reading about you setting half of northern Ontario on fire

    I have a half acre pond in Ohio and the cat tails are on 3 of 4 sides now. I was able to keep them at bay up until last year and 3 ankle surgeries. My pond is not spring fed just from run off. How do you think the salt would effect the fish?

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  Год назад +1

      Hi Joe
      I know exactly what your experiencing. My pond started off with a few and thought ok that's not a problem, and they look good in the background untill they took over the pond . I'm confident if you started off with 200 pounds of salt placed at the base of the plants you would definitely see them turning brown in 60 days and dead by the fall. I just let them decompose on their own then you can lay down pond liner to prevent them from coming back. Or just put the salt down when you see more . It's definitely harmful to fish as the other amphibians can go elsewhere.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  2 года назад

      It will kill everything green including the cattails that's for sure . If the lagoon has fish and such its not a good idea as the salt will kill wildlife too. My pond had very little water flow so it worked great but if you have a steady water flow it may not work so good . Cheers 👍
