Indonesia has Zohri the 2nd runner and he is world Junior champion last July in Finland and except fadlin the 1st runner they are all under 23 yo. Zohri 18 yo is the youngest of all participants. So no doubt Indonesian sprinters is serious team to beat in the future.

sure are. And they work so well as a unit (as well as having virtually 2 sub 10 men there in Kiryu and Yamagata). China actually underperformed here with the talent (2 sub 10 men) at their disposal

@T To the 4 fastest all Japanese still would have won. There isn’t too much different in about 7 or 8 Japanese sprinters in which 2-3 are half Japanese.
China population much larger too than any Asian nation other than India.

@Nestor Ramos Philippines has terrific athletes too. Such a small country population wide yet many great basketball players.
I’m in the USA and many of the very good Asian bball players are Filipino.

In my view, Yamagata San is the backbone of the Japanese Team. Of course, Cambridge San, the anchor, is very important. Nonetheless, the first 100 is so crucial, and Yamagata San won for the Empire of the Rising Sun - Dai Nippon!

Yes, i know this is a team work, all the runners did very well, but you cant deny that Zohri is the key of silver medal winning. Zohri the second leg, outrun the chinese's second leg, and the remaining runners did stabilize the position very well.
