      Ok so here is my dilemma; do I proactively replace and potentially introduce a problem on a perfectly good system or in an ounce of prevention replace now before there is a problem. There is a thing with too much maintenance introducing opportunities for issues or failure so I’m kinda paralyzed by that right now. Haha😂
      I ended up getting two of each for the black tank flush and fresh water connection. I have them in my “camper pile” of things to load for our next trip.

    Another method to get water into my fresh tank on my rig (2021 StarCraft Super Lite 212FB) is to use bucket full of fresh water and the water pump and siphon hose with the valves in the sanitize configuration. This will pump directly into the fresh tank. May take awhile, but an option nonetheless.

    Question about water pressure. If the trailer is outfitted with house grade pex tubing, why is a pressure regulator still required and why regulate down to 20psi?

    • @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS
      @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS  3 месяца назад +1

      not sure about yours, but most rvs are rated higher than 20 psi, and most people run around 45-50. the pex isnt the problem, that will withstand the pressure, its the plastic fittings that will break.

  • @scrub175

    Question about hose end quick connects. Have you seen any reductions in pressure or flow rate based on using quick connects? I tried a set once for car detailing and I observed a drop in volume of flow from the hose after. Perhaps it was the brand I chose at that time. I check for a link in your description of which you would recommend. Thank you.

    • @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS
      @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS  18 дней назад +1

      Personally, I havent, however either I dont pay attention enough, or the flow loss was so minimal I didnt notice while washing the truck. I I think that would be a good thing to test though 🤔

    I suspect the gravity fill ports are not threaded because if you directly connect a hose to the port and over fill the tank it will expand like a balloon and damage the tank and surrounding equipment. The vent isn’t large enough to let sufficient water out once it fully filled. Ask me how I know!!!

    • @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS
      @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS  3 месяца назад +1

      probably part of it, and yes what is the deal with these over fill valves? i have walked inside once (dont tell anyone lol) and noticed my floor swelling due to the tank expanding. This was probably 6 years ago, but remember the water was pouring out of the gravity fill, when it really should never make it past the overflow.

    This may be dumb question guys, but I am pretty new to RVing, I do NOT have pressure regulator, I was wondering what it is and why it's important to have one? Thank you.

    • @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS
      @RVTIPSANDTRAVELS  2 месяца назад +1

      because you are always "borrowing" water... you're never at the same campground, and different campgrounds will have different water pressures... some low, some high - too high for what the rv plumbing is rated for. a regulator will prevent too high of a pressure to damage your plumbing. rv plumbing lines are pex, and pex can well withstand the pressure, the problem is the plastic fittings that are used. get this one right here: amzn.to/3NcNRpu
