It's not the "main theme" of Warframe, but it is the theme song to one of the most significant plot events in the narrative for the player going through the main story. One of those twists where it totally restructures your perception of the game and what's going on. So it's got a huge place in the heart of the community, because everyone pretty much remembers hearing this for the first time, and the story/emotional impact of the gameplay going with it.
it has, sorta also become the kinda theme of the pc, as alot of times when the pc is being themselves/the hero this or aspects of it will creep into the background
Lately in-game this song's become a leitmotif during the conclusion of story segments. There's a moment when a bit of this plays as the character finally understands the conflict and sees the path through. The second quest I was listening for it and it gave me shivers.
This Is What You Are is not the main theme of Warframe but is the closest there is to a main theme. Warframe doesn't have an official main theme, but this track is often associated with a "main theme" for it's melody appearing in key story moments. This track is the first instance this melody appears in the game. The reason it is not the main theme is, to my interpretation, "This Is What You Are" appears too late into the story but in such a crucial moment that you can't separate it. The meaning behind the track would just fly over someone who doesn't know the context, it would just feel like another cool music track. Better yet, your analysis is a perfect example of what I just wrote: you are spot on with your analysis, but at the same time you completely missed the meaning of it and therefore your analysis is wrong. It's the type of track that you might hear at the start of a movie, but when it appears in the credits you hear it from a different perspective and understand the depth of it. I can't explain it without spoilers, this is how impactful this track is. It is possible to get a lot more story from this track then one might think.
One of the neat things about the structure of this song, is that it's pretty much the same musical piece just repeated over and over, with little to no change as far as the "lyrics" of it. It's just given different tonal inflection, musical accompaniment, sped up, slowed down, made instrumental, and then made purely choral. But ultimately, it's the same 4 or so lines of music, over and over
So yeah, this is a game that has this absolutely epic theme of This is what you are, sinthwave like March of Moa or Corpus Greed, opera of the Duviri Paradox, Onlyne, the 90s boys band and grunge piece like The Call, sea shanty Of Sleeping in the cold below, We all lift together chain gang song, heartbeaking Smiles from Juran, a love story of United, almost persian rithms of Sanctum Anatomica and religious chant For Narmer. The game, the music, is a real kaleidoscope of feelings, emotions and pespectives. Always in a move to show something new, yet still making all it's part work togeter the best way possible. Glad you are enjoying this journey
I think of this song as a "Lullaby" The first section is for "waking up, my love." The second section (drum) is for "Go out there (and see the world), my love" and the last (nearly end) section is for "Come home, my love. (Resting safely as I look over for you)"
The drumming and drums are in the style of Japanese Taiko and is often associated with battle or war. The shouts a vocalizations are often present in Taiko as well.
at the start it feels like( We know we lost but there is a hope) at middle (we fight for it) about the end (We Reach our goal) and at the end (We remember where we came from and return to it.)
In the game you can set up a playlist with every song to auto play when ever you are in your obitor ( home base) i must have heard this song a million times and it still hits me in the feels, probaply because it is assosiated with such an amazing story
This track and the quest surrounding it made me a long term fan of Warframe. It's one of those very rare moments you get to experience in fiction that sticks with you forever.
This song is such of a backbone to a lot of the story that parts of this are used and remixed in other parts of songs used in quests later. A sting is even used briefly in a song from 1999 which is the latest quest.
I always switch between "this is what you are" and "march of the moa" to play in my orbiter/dormizone/backroom. Have been for years, we have alot of stuff to choose from these days but I always jump back and forth between these two tracks
Ah, this was the one I was waiting for. Lemme watch before commenting further This is a story quest theme, and this one in particular might contain the greatest plot twist in gaming, if not it's certainly up there. It also used to be the most kept secret, but people have been a little loose recently lol. About the song though, something you missed is that there are two different vocalists, the woman, and the choir of children. That was something I kept hoping you would pick up on, but you seemed to miss it. Hopefully that gives you a little context to what the song (and I suppose by extension, the quest) is about, without giving too much away. I highly recommend you give Warframe a shot someday, lotsa fun and a very good story once you've gotten to it. Also, I recommend your next listen to be "Smiles from Juran". A bit short but amazing all the same.
There's been a fair number of Destiny 2 streamers switching to, or at least trying, Warframe. But I'm sure you already know that. Some have a large audience, 5k+ in one stream, so word has unfortunately gotten out.

It literally is the main theme. it wasn't originally but it eventually became so. or at least the motif did.

You absolutely need to hear "Smiles from Juran" and "To Take Its Pain Away" next.
I agree, but those are the same track, right? Am I misremembering something?
@@Orion_44 Theyre slightly different, To Take Away Its Pain is basically Smiles from Juran but with some Operator themeing added to it.

the penultimate section of the song reminds me of Mass Effect 2 and the suicide mission
Industrial? You connected this with skyrim and shouts. And then jump into workers? Not warriors or something like that. But workers? XD
