I'm laughing cause Andy didn't seemed too impressed with HIS FAVORITE VOCALIST back in DGD for Shelf Life 😂. Overall another solid release for sure! I remember Will Swan saying in an interview that they were focused on writing songs that moreso catered to the singer/more catchy songs/songwriting. In the past as you know they would mostly just throw the vocalists to the wolves and write all the instrumentation first then hand them off to the vocalists after for the most part. The funniest/saddest part about this album is that the wild more niche songs don't get nearly as much love and Spotify numbers show that. Look at "Shelf Life" or "Hair Song" and they don't hold a candle to "Count Bassy" or "Care". So in a way they kind of proved a point with their singles and how well they did. Not my favorite DGD record but it has some of my favorite and least favorite Jon Mess moments (his higher scream is my favorite and it really comes back on this album HARD). Hair Song is one of my favorite DGD songs ever, wish it got more love- Jon goes dummy on that one and the riffs are nutso Fun Facts about this album specifically. Martin from Secret band is a featured guitarist on Midnight Crusade, The Rattler, and Bloodsucker. Zac Garren(ex DGD guitarist) is featured on Care. Andrew Wells on Hair Song, Bloodsucker, and Evaporate. Lastly Bloodsucker is the only ever DGD song to not have Will Swan on it- it features Andrew Wells and Martin Bianchini from secret band only on guitars. THE MORE YOU KNOW 👀 Also to your point Andy of wanting more "Jon Centric Songs" look at the huge dip in streams from "The Rattler" to the rest of the songs. The people sadly don't want that as much as you might haha. I think that's why Secret Band exists haha
on that Bloodsucker note - maybe only album released DGD song without Will Swan, but the Semi-Charmed Life is also sans Swan. That is either Martin again or bro from Wolf & Bear.
11:40 for the Tree City Sessions version of Nasa, Jon actually seemingly forgot a lyric and he just screams "blah bleh bleh bleh bleh bleh blah bleh bleh blah blah" 😂 it's funny and something i think everyone should hear at least once, but i agree the city sessions isn't really worth a video reaction imo

Memphis May Fire, I believe, slowly put out their entire album through music videos, each one using the same set. Kinda like Underoath re-releasing the latest album as a live studio set. I kinda like that model. I think Story of the Year did that for Page Avenue anniversary too.
