The best concert I have ever attended in my life. As close to the meaning of musical artistic perfection as one could hop to experience. She had the audience spell bound.
Björk's the best! And Zeena Parkins! I love how she played all those glissandi without flinching from the pain. I know how it is. I've played harp for a long long while now but sometimes it still can hurt slightly on your fingertips. Anyway, loved everything about it! Generous Palmstroke rocks! Thanks! ~Chris Choi AKA Seoul's Lonely HarPist
that climax and break is really powerful. i agree with an earlier comment though, i wish somehow the audience could have held off their applause; i think the effect would have been incredible. this is definitely one of my favorite bjork songs.
Im like: this is the greates song ever....then I hear unison and thats the greatest ever, then hyperballad.....aaaarrrggggghhhhh they are all the greates. I cant belive it. She's amazing!
I like this song; so "in love" song! I'am strong in his hands, I'am beyond me... On my own i'am human and I do faults... I do confess, i feel you trickeling... Down my shoulders from above... I turn my self in, I gave my self out... I volunteer!! You own me I'm yours! You have to trust, I'm eternally yours! All that I gave them, I gave to you! LOVE BJORK SO MUCH!!!!
This is one of Björk's few songs that I think sound way better live than on record. The simplicity of the harp and voice fits this song much more than all the extra things in the cd version.
The 5.1 Dolby Digital sound with great HiFi speakers, amplifier and source, is absolutly amazing with this track. A lot of sound, especially bass when harpist player doing hardy handshake with his instrument !! Thanks for posting !
Her voice seems like one that would be to sing some kind of folk song not too well-known. You either love it or hate it. In this case, I find myself loving it ^_^
This is more, more powerful than anyother rock song! The way Zeena Barkins plays the harp... At 3:34 lacks a part of performance... At 4:06, she has an extraordinary expression, so tender, really nordic like a husky or malamute
@7me Yup, that always makes me smile. And I also LOVE the grimace she sends to the harphist after the song - like if she wanted to shout out loud "Yeah, we rock!"
yeah but you gotta admit, i heard it was a standing ovation at that point, thats an amazing achievment... meh wateva she's absolutely imperfectly perfect
@dmucci100 It's funny how emotions are always the same, from when you start singing, being a kid, to when you find yourself singing in front of an huge audience at the Royal Opera House.
Woah, I'm going to have to check out some of Zeena Parkins records now. I had never heard her stuff before. For a great female koto player, check out Miya Masaoka. She plays a harp made of lasers!
I HATE HATE HATE HATE that every single live recording of this is interrupted by applause. (you can picture me swearing in your head instead of in this comment)
Yes, but maybe they can't held back for her voice and the ability of Zeena in that moment. I don't blame the public, although if they remained silent...

Nobody is moved by Bjork's voice as much as I am. I simply can't fathom that anyone loves her as much as I do.
I love that expression she gives Zeena at the end. She knew she rocked it out.
at 4:10 her silent cheer at the harpist ughh i melted. how incredible this is.
WHOA! THE HARPIST WHOA! EVEN BJÖRK EXPRESSED HOW GOOD SHE WAS TO HER. I'M IN AWE, WHO IS THAT?!
Her name is Zeena Perkins, she is Irish. :)
thank you! :) i'll look up her work.
Zeena is American not Irish
Her name is Zeena Parkins, actually. She worked at my college.

I fell in love with this song immediately. The harp player, Zeena Parkins is amazing! Bjork rocks!

Definitely one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. Gave me goosebumps so many times... Björk is one of a kind.
I love how the harpist goes crazy near the middle It reminded me of someone going AROINYVAOEWNRYWEOIYRNOEWIYNROEWIROQWE With a keyboard
love the way she sings " Chuman"
I like this song; so "in love" song!

LOVE BJORK SO MUCH!!!!
is so beautiful.....an emotional landscape.
I love the way she looked at the harpist and at the beginning. they are both great!
my favorite artist she is an angel
Sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it...

I found my definition of love listening to this song. my love was this song.

I love her face at the end when she knows that she nailed it. (:
This is one of the best Björk's live performance that I've seen!
If I could travel through time I would go to this concert
AMAZING performance, i never get tired of this song, EVER!!
holy frick! that harpist is bind boggling!
she's crazy!
i love it!

absolutely wonderful! I'm crying

Zeena is coming to Mèxico!!!! not only Mèxico but Mèxico City. Damn B. She had to come here as well...
4:09 "Fuuuuuck!" Best moment ever.
Unique - that's High-End.
I turn my self in, I gave my self out...
I volunteer You own me I'm yours!
People, better going to see her shows, it's pure eargasm

Bjork: Vespertine - Live at Royal Opera House [DVD] [2002]
yeah but you gotta admit, i heard it was a standing ovation at that point, thats an amazing achievment... meh wateva she's absolutely imperfectly perfect
@mysterious493 nice mugshot! very inventive...
I was gonna go buy the studio version of this but..it sounds so much more....natural...emotional live ^^
perfect!!
Wordless.
@dmucci100 It's funny how emotions are always the same, from when you start singing, being a kid, to when you find yourself singing in front of an huge audience at the Royal Opera House.
i love the look on her face at 4:11 ^^
Who else in the "pop" world could write something as beautiful as this? Scott Walker 40 years ago? Maybe.
Woah, I'm going to have to check out some of Zeena Parkins records now. I had never heard her stuff before. For a great female koto player, check out Miya Masaoka. She plays a harp made of lasers!
Significa carinho, mais ou menos isso. ^^
harp made of lasers? sounds fascinating!
I HATE HATE HATE HATE that every single live recording of this is interrupted by applause. (you can picture me swearing in your head instead of in this comment)
zeena!
Björk. :)
@homegirrl Bjork would already have known that! Why do you think she employed her?
Powerful is as powerful does, and Terlaghan to that. What about Whitesnake?
Según leí ella se refiere a un golpe dado con la mano, más que un abrazo
Great Harp, Zeena Parkins is just great.
Bright.
4:09 it definitely looks like she says "fuck" to the harpist after the song. In a good way, I guess.
its a bonus track of vespertine
what is this from? Is it able to be purchased?
Stop at 4:06 *.* She resembles a very beutiful Alaskan Malamute: pale skin, black hair, little nose and pair of particular eyes...
why is this only on the deluxe version
Do you not find this song rather violent?
Trust me man, I even have a vegvisir tattooed on my arm, My Björk love is unconditional. Björk Hugs! Many manly Björk hugs.
Creo que significa "cachetada" ó "golpe"
of course they love it, but I wish people would wait until they know FOR SURE that the song is over
es como una caricia de palma de la mano pero mas fuerte...
Yes, but maybe they can't held back for her voice and the ability of Zeena in that moment. I don't blame the public, although if they remained silent...
como acaricia no? algo k tocas con la mano nose si es como acariciar nose si lo deletre bien hehe
No, I don't. This is powerful, not violent. Intelligently powerful, unlike many rock songs.
peleideleric
she just nailed gaga's talent
bjork has faults????
hahhaaa, oh yeah, and Imagine is about a dream of a fascist state, are you sick or what?
