I did EC with my daughter from three weeks old. I remember when she was somewhere between four and six months and my sister was holding her. She looked over at me with a log of urgency and I just knew she had to go potty. I grabbed her from my sister walked over to the bathroom and she went potty. I also have a video from when she was 2 1/2, nursing on me when she stops and started trying to get my attention… I didn’t realize that at the time while I was taking the video, but a few weeks later, I realize that she was trying to tell me she had to go potty. And I remember I cut the video off real fast because I felt her rumble. And the video she even said the word “poo poo” because slapping my face wasn’t clear enough for me, but you don’t think that a baby at that age can form a logical sound to portray their need so it went completely over my head until I heard it while re-watching the video. But it makes sense cause that is a very simple sound to make and she heard it about 5 million times a day for the last two months. They know, they just can’t get their own their own.
Unfortunately this is super common! The mentality that "babies aren't ready until X age" is rampant in daycares, just like it is in the population generally. Working hard to change that! Were you able to find a provider who DID support your child?
I have been given a snoo bassinet for my baby (due feb). There is a function which is designed to rock them when they become unsettled in the night (it’s supposed to get them back to sleep if they’re not hungry, just unsettled, it turns off if they don’t settle because that means they’re hungry or need your attention). Do you think that would make EC less effective because perhaps when the baby becomes unsettled but could go back to sleep, they actually want to pee or poo?
A young baby might become unsettled for a number of reasons in the night, primarily because their sleep cycles are immature and relatively short, so they will kind of rouse at the top of each cycle but usually will put themselves back to sleep if they are not too hungry or needing to potty. (However with a newborn-2 months, they would need to feed throughout the night and I would expect a pee/poop each time) So a snoo could be helpful just to help bridge that sleep gap, but generally if they really need to potty it will not work and they would let you know! My rule of thumb with EC at night is to only offer if they are fully awake and asking or you already have their diaper off. I would try it, and trust your intuition! If you're laying there thinking, I think they might actually need to potty...they probably do!
you cant blame diapers as a reason for somone not to be toilet trained every person is different and forcing potty training too early is not good history on potty training is available online what really needs to happen is the paper companies need to switch to hemp
I would never advocate for parents to "force" potty training. However babies do have a natural instinct as a newborn that if ignored, will absolutely make it more difficult to toilet train them later. And I'm all for more sustainable production of diapers themselves! Diapers are still a needed tool to use as a backup even for parents practicing EC!

Love this! Thanks so much for sharing your story!
you helped me so much with your videos! My baby is 6 weeks and we saved so many diapers so far :D
Amazing! So happy to hear that! ❤️
I literally had to change daycare providers because she would ignore my child. When she asked to go to the potty.
