GGG ain’t using his head or doesn’t understand that every game launches with bugs. Everything you said right there I always comment when I watch videos about bad things about the game. People just don’t know how to have fun especially GGG. BF5 is much worse than 2042 and 2042 is modern which is the best setting for battlefield.
@GetGoodGuy Been playing on Series X, and been getting MASSIVE frame drops, to the point it's basically unplayable. I just don't understand.. The only gun worth using for controller players is the PP-29 and I'm bored with it. All of the guns don't feel right, aiming doesn't feel right, the game just doesn't feel right. Really difficult to explain. I could go on and on but all I can say is I'm really disappointed. :/

Just like Battlefield V. This attitude of releasing any ole shite at launch and patching up it as you go. Is a complete lack of respect for the customers who buy their product. They could not care less. Mo Chara.

This is DICE’s equivalent to CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk. However, I do not see EA being humble enough to offer refunds until they actually fix the game. It’s stupid and broken and I know this was DICE just being pulled by their publisher to release during a time when they just weren’t ready. It’s starting to be the new normal that games are being released early and broken because of pressure from fans and publishers in hopes the day 1 patch and updates will fix it. NO! A day 1 patch is for polishing and fixing small bugs not to completely rework a broken game. They’ve completely fucked up.
I think I just hope that DICE will try to reorganize themselves and hopefully within a few years (maybe 4-5 years) they will soon release a good game

The solution is to quit buying the games. The only reason I have the game is because it came with my EA subscription. Glad I didn't pay money for it, but I did buy Vanguard.
The team at DICE is almost entirely different from the bf4-bf1 days. EA has murdered another great franchise. Battlefield is dead. It was on life support with 5 and this is soooo much worse. This needed to be excellent to save this franchise. EA ruins franchises. It's what they do. Shame on them.
TBH DICE did it themselves. After BF1 they had massive changes inside the studio. According to ex-devs, people were hired and promoted based on their political views and their contacts within DICE and EA, new managers were so focused on creating "positive atmosphere" within studio that they ignored all critisism from players and testers while they discouraged developers from giving negative feedback as it might "hurt feelings of those who worked hard on these games". Looking at how BFV and 2042 turned out, I am willing to believe these stories I've mentioned.

bf2042, the game where you are forced into playing running simulator only to be deleted by an enemy choppa or suicide on redeploy, great game! i am also starting to believe 2042 isn't the year set but the amount of bugs still in the game

You know what's worse about BF2042 than BFV?
With the reveal of BFV, most people already had a negative view of the game and weren't that hyped either to be dissapointed later. With BF2042, the damage is doubled, as the hype was tremendous at the moment of the reveal... only to fall flat on it's nose with the Beta and now, with the final product.
Most of the original Dice devs left after BF1 hence why everything else after that has been a shit show.

You're so true. Shame. Some of the other big Battlefield content providers aren't being as open and honest as you. I'm glad I got my refund after the beta shit show. I'm fine with my Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 servers. Just hope they continue being populated. Keep up the great content GGG. 👍
cod vanguard, and I know everyone loves to hate on cod, is in a MUCH better state than 2042. I played the free weekend and its actually pretty darn fun, gets to much hate imo.
I too got my refund after beta. I was frustrated to see class system gone.

I couldn’t get in most of my favourite bf4 servers last night it was so busy.

As a content creator myself...i just cant play it.
Even if it wasnt a buggy mess even if all these issues were not in the game...It just doesnt feel like a BF game. Yes the specialists are crap and a real issue for a lot of people. But its everything.
Take BF1.
Its got Atmosphere and Music in the background voice lines from soldiers with weight behind them and ambience to make you feel so immersed.
2042 has none of that. a rubbish theme song,no atmosphere,cheesy voice lines from the specialists at the end.
and the specialists is a way to negate teamwork when BF has always been about pushing teamwork.

I keep going back to play a few matches but I get pissed off and just quit every time. It’s horrible. Really enjoying halo right now though. I’ll be playing that for a hot minute. Game actually feels polished and they took their time with the year push back.
YES! people always say the bf4 has a shite launch, and 2042 will get its bugs fixed later too. But the problem with 2042 isn't even mainly the bugs, (even though they are a problem), its the core game and how that core game just isn't battlefield. So sad to see what could have been the greatest bf game ever turned into this. Because its not possible for the game to become 'amazing', when the core features that are missing like classes will never be added, dice's words. Maybe in the future, it will be a bug-free and stable game, but it will always be a cod apex clone with no soul of battlefield.

Cancelled my pre order after the beta. I was so ready for battlefield 2042….and ended up just being let down again. Hopefully, things change. Will be sticking with BF1 until something is done 😔
This is what happens when people accept crap. Battlefield V was an absolute turkey at launch. Yet nobody called it out. It was all "it's not as bad as Battlefield 4 at launch, and look how that turned out" ect ect. Criticism only really started to appear after about six months. This attitude of releasing any ole shite at launch needs to be called out from day 1. Good for you GGG for calling them out, it needs to be addressed Otherwise these companies will keep playing us for mugs!
Nah, Corporates dont give a shait about criticism if game already made its money for development, its all about dosh. Dont preorder, dont buy before reviews. People are sheeps and desperate for games, thats why they are "okaish" with crap we are getting last few years. They are already in making of BF 2023. I cant even think of a game that was not fucked up this year or delayed.

Exactly how most of us feel. Pre ordered as with most of the bf games and once again screwed over by dice. Played from early access and already bored with everything about this game. Starting to become the normal trend for ea and dice to release yet another broken bf game. Just give up guys
I was massively let down by BFV after the fantastic BF1 etc, I'm really sad for creators I grew to love during those great times having to put up with this stuff
It’s just unacceptable the state it’s released in. I wanna love this game, but from the serious design issues to the bugs it’s just terrible, especially at 128 players. I can enjoy the 64 player version on old Gen, but like you said it runs so poorly.
I personally think BFV has the best gunplay of any Battlfield game. It also has incredible sound design and pretty decent visuals even on low settings. I am still playing it now, and have no plans to play 2042 until its fixed and heavily discounted.

Just keep trying. It did this to me when I first got it. It would work after the 3rd or 4th try. This lasted a couple days and now it launches fine for me every time.
I completely agree with everything you said. I started playing BF1 a while ago cause i wanted to get into Battlefield again before 2042 came out cause i was really hyped...played the 10h Trial with EA Access and i was shocked...my hype was gone as soon as i finished my first round cause it was really really bad for me (also on Xbox). It just didnt felt nice for me at all. I switched back to BF1 and started grinding that again and it feels so much better, especially the atmosphere, the weapons all that stuff.
I really hope that Dice will patch a lot of the issues but tbh i am not really optimistic so i will probably stick to BF1 haha
It's really sad reading these comments. I personally feel like I've been manipulated into thinking the game would release in some state worthy of the price tag. I'm literally at a loss as to what content to make in what should be a sandbox experience that allows almost anything. It has to change soon or the game will die a very early death
Manipulated? Did you see anything about the beta? That was more hard evidence than any tweet or statement. Just don't believe what they say. Should have learned that from bfv, cyberpunk or any other occasion.
Streamers bashing warzone made people believe 2042 was going to be the 2nd coming. After the beta and how bad it was they either went mute or turned a blind eye to it all.
Glad I trusted my instincts from the broken BFV promises... So glad I didn't pre-order this and am even more pleased to have not been sucked in by the first-week pre-release content creator excitement. I'll be keeping my money in my pocket this time DICE.

Totally agree with you. I just feel cheated for buying this game early. It is broken, lacking in game modes, no campaign to get polished multiplayer ( this must be the biggest joke ever ) and they still sell it for a full price.
I've had some fun playing it but as it is for now I can't see myself playing this after one month :/

I’ve been playing on PS5 with cross play off and I’ve been having a good time. It has tons of issues but I’m confident (hopeful) they will get worked out before too long. All that being said, all your complaints and concerns are understandable and I agree with most of them.

You are having fun because you are able to easily turn cross play off and play against equal input levels. Xbox series x/s is controller console with broken aim assist vs M & K on more powerful hardware which we now find out is now going to get their aiming fixed and have been hobbled this entire time whilst drilling us into the ground so.... yay... Also I am a lvl 500 bfv player with litteral stupid amounts of play time. If I am struggling to be bothered playing 2042 the games a mess.
My worst bug is when a new round starts my loadout is blank so i need to quit the game mode and restart it every single time.
Also getting spotted on the map if you shoot ruins the game.

There's been a reason I've waited 3/6 months to buy the last THREE bf games. They just rush them out, all the time. Hardline, bf1 and bf5......and I'll be doing the same with this one.

Nice rant, I feel the same with what you said about portal. All I want to do is play tdm 32 players, hardcore, no veichles but there’s hardly any servers and I can’t level my weapons. :(
This is a brutally honest review, and that’s exactly what’s needed. Certain other gaming commentators are being far too kind.
BF2042 is quite simply a disaster and an expensive one at that, almost £70 for the basic version on Xbox Series X. Some of the decisions Dice and EA have made on this game are staggeringly bad. The map size and design is a major issue also, lots of running around in vast empty spaces, even with 128 players.
I know you mention not liking BFV, but I think it’s a good game albeit after another shocking start. Looks like it’s back to BFV and BF1 for the foreseeable future.
It’s also worth mentioning that Microsoft are denying refund requests even if you’ve only played the game for a few hours.

Been stopping by the streams past couple of days and can definitely see why there’s frustration and disappointment. Personally im trying to enjoy whats here right now even though out of 22 guns only 5/6 are viable and its just disappointing the lack of polish. hopefully these next two patches can fix some of the issues we all are having.

Good on you for giving your own critiques while also dismissing those "missing features" lists. In addition to the reason you gave, i've also seen multiple items on multiple lists that are actually in 2042. There's plenty to complain about without having to make stuff up!
I would like to add sir, on PS4 when I get revived, if I move the stick at all, it looks around very chaotically even after I stand up for a second. ALSO, the first ammo unlock for the DM7 is bugged. If it’s not in the first slot on the Plus Sign, it’ll bug out and make the whole gun disappear when you equip it.

Agree with that GGG I'm in that refund group gone back to BF1. The worst thing for me, which will not change as part of the fundamental design, is the player count, huge boring maps and most importantly lack teamwork element as casses removed

I want to install it but I have no more storage at the moment and it’s terrible having to constantly remove and install games I play to make room for new ones.
They put a lot of effort into marketing it based on BF3/4 Nostalgia and then delivered this half baked experience but the diet version, they took out all the sugar and spice that gives this game its spice like the franchise has had in the past. It’s like asking a new person to coffee to drink it black, and by that I mean you remove all the pleasure form it so to speak.
They went to bake us a new battlefield cake, didn’t leave it in long enough, skipped over little additives that make a big difference, and put icing on it that resembles a far better cake we had before. We had to send it back for some work but at least they didn’t forget the core ingredients when they mixed the batter.
This is diet battlefield, only unlike Diet Coke, it has little in the way of tasting good enough to share the same brand.
Dice marketed an apple to us, and then they have us an unripened tomato.
As someone who plays on old Gen (ps4) I think there is a huge disconnect right now between old and new Gen players. The recoil I experience due to frame rate and stuttering is INSANE. Then I come watch these videos and see no recoil for new Gen players. Lmao we are having totally different experiences with the game and yet they're somehow still both crap lol. But yeah not enough people realize how many people like me are still stuck with old Gen and are hating this game because of it especially poor performance on these consoles.
At this point it’s definitely where do we go because battlefield doesn’t do it anymore. War Thunder, Squad, Enlisted, Insurgency and Hell Let Loose all look like good options. I really like War Thunder so I’m really stoked to have a full fledged Enlisted on console

I enjoy it and have fun, I play on Xbox series X and I find it runs totally fine.
My main gripes are score board, how close a medic is, probably some other stuff that I can't think of.

I actually had some fun with this game earlier today with the new update. Gunplay is a lot better now, and the AK24 is a beast to use!! It's funny that the hovercraft are mostly gone now, but the Bolte has become the new quick vehicle meta!! Just had a superb Bolte run with my squadmate driving and me on the cannon, managed a 35-5 k/d run with it!! 😬
Not sure if they tweaked the helicopter controls, but I finally clicked with the Nightbird and can get many kills with it now, until someone AA Missiles me!! 😂
Still a lot of features that need adding to make it a rounded experience, but for now it's a positive update for me.

BF veteran since bf2. Literally tens of thousands of hrs in the franchise. Its dead for me now. Ignoring all the bugs and lacking content/features, the class system that fundamentally makes BF BF, is gone.
BF5 is sowly becoming Star Wars prequels of Battlefield franchise.

Well to be honest I have fun with the all out warfare breakthrough for mostly about 1 and a half or 2 hours then I get pissed and play Vanguard. So while I have fun with the game for a certain period of time I immediately recognize your very valid criticism and I am very concerned for the future of this game and even franchise.
I have seen the positive and the negative sides of this game from playing it since early access.
Let’s hope the next patch puts it more on the positive side

Every lobby on ps5 feels stuttery/ choppy with bad ping. Is this because I'm far away from the servers, or are the servers themselves the issue?

To think they also scrapped the idea of a campaign to put more effort on multiplayer.
I gave up multiplayer after 2 days....I've paid over £50 to only play solo mode in hope the gunplay gets fixed soon
I really don’t know how you can play on last gen, it feels like I’m shooting in water, I do think it will end up a classic and from the look of it 3 patches by Christmas is positive step (let’s just hope they don’t add a bug here & there by fixing others) it’s not like it’s never happened before

You are not wrong at all. I have been a fan since 1942 and enjoyed all versions until BF5. That was so disappointing I got a refund. Can't do the same this time, but am so disappointed and dismayed with the way DICE are treating us.
Whatever the reasons they came up with this, they did. "Love letter to fans"? It's a kick in the balls to fans.
First 2 patches have moved slowly in the right direction. I agree you can compare 2042s launch to bf4s launch simply because so much has changed. However, it can't be compared to Bf V either. Why? Well after the performance dice as a studio need a good showing on 2042. This is pretty much a make or break release for the franchise. It's in both dices and EAs best interest on a business level to ensure the game is turned around.
There's numerous updates in the pipeline to address performance, bugs and balance. The next few weeks will tell alot.

I really want platoons back! We have built a community, years of friendships, and we have friendly and nonfriendly rivals built up. It’s a huge part of battlefield! The creativity of emblems. It’s really sad and disappointing. We need this feature back among many others.
I feel all of the GGG... I was so excited and now I just feel let down.. after 1300 hours of bfv I was ready for something different.. something better.. and 2042 just isn't at the minute. I love battlefield and I really hope Dice can turn this around.
The series X version runs really good the only real problem is you have to play with PC and it's not fair at all.
Honestly, I'm giving it a hard pass because of the operators and lack of guns. Got way too many other games that I actually enjoy so I have absolutely no reason to waste what precious free time I have.
I couldn't be happier with your coverage of this game GGG! So many RUclipsrs I see are blindly supporting the game and are shilling for ea. I am especially disappointed in JackFrags and Westie because they have only criticized the game after it launched, obviously to preserve the sales. The game really is disgraceful, and I think most people can agree that bf5 is in a better state at this point. I really appreciate your honest feedback, seems so rare nowadays!

Still can't get into a console only hazard zone lobby. They also should add a vs bots mode for hazard zone beings that there is no single player campaign or at the very least add more extraction choppers....Gunfights are rng. For some reason sparks come out of your gun making it difficult to see where you are shooting at times. Breakaway is like the main maps that you get out into constantly. The objectives for breakthrough should not be on buildings or at the very least 9layers shouldn't be able to spawn vehicles on them. No server browser on all out warfare. The scoreboard as many people have pointed out. Lack of voice chat. Medic xp needs a buff so more people want to revive team mates. They need to allow you to leave a squad so if you don't cooperate then you end up alone. Stats don't count in portal(at least not for me) because the devs say xp farms which I dont get because it's not hurting anyone's game and at least people are playing battlefield so what if they xp farm.
My biggest issue though is hazard zone. 5 extract streak for a calling card? I have only gotten one because it's a pc dominated game mode which is good for them but I paid money for the game as well and think myself and others should be able to grind it out in solo or vs bots. No one is going to be op from grinding in a vs bots mode so I don't see an issue there especially when you lose everything for just one failed extraction.

Played a game yesterday and called in a robo-dog. The robo-dog was displayed as a red triangle (enemy colour) and when I mentioned it in chat people started flaming me and saying if you don't like the game don't play it. I don't hate the game I just want it to be better.

This was cathartic to watch. 100% agree. I am just baffled at how bad the map design is. There are barely any lanes/choke points, so it's just getting-shot-in-the-back-simulator. I just tried BFV for the first time a few days ago, and I can't believe how good it is (especially after a similarly rocky release). The gunplay is so satisfying!
I'm on old gen Xbox. I can't hit a guy standing right next to me with an entire clip. The bot (?) I tried to kill yesterday with a melee attack - I couldn't hit. Strangely - they did kill me - but it took thirty seconds of trying, and I didn't touch my sticks once.
Looking at this gameplay - if I could move, shoot and play like this - I would find it amazing. But in this game - I can't do jack. I'm willing to entertain the idea that I just suck also - but if thats the case - then I am over it. I'm all for having a skill gap - but good games allow anyone to play - even if to be good, one might have to be dedicated. I'm just running around with bot-like movement, not able to hit the broad side of a barn, only to get "sniped" by some guy who air-dropped a tank onto a water tower or something. A tank that cannot be destroyed even IF I manage to hit it with multiple rockets. Keep in mind that said tank is immobile.

I'm commenting 10 months late, but in general the game does seem to be doing better. Map reworks look decent, adding weapons from portal into the main game is a good idea and the specialist rework into class system looks promising.
It should never be hit or miss when buying a "triple A" game, I purchased the game from origin on release, played it once - found the optimization to be horrendous for my pc soooo am stuck now with a badly made unfinished game. Would really love to get my money back but I guess I can't now? :(
Great commentary. I definitely need an anger translator. I am dissapointed with the state of this game. But seriously conflicted because there is fun to be had. BF1 and BFV were not my cup of tea. So I really badly want this game to improve drastically before its too late.

And with how bad 2042 is doing, I think they should bring back support for battlefield 5 and continue after the Pacific update.

May as well forget that you own the game if you are using last gen. Worst gunplay since Medal of Honor Warfighter! Huge changes required before I’ll be back…and I’ve been a hardcore battlefield fan since Battlefield Modern Combat on original Xbox.
I haven't played a BF game for a while bc I really just enjoy modern era shooters much more so BF1 and 5 didn't hold as much interest for me and I played tons of BF3 and 4 years ago; so I was excited to see a new BF not set in the past, though I could do without the futuristic tone, at least it's not too heavy. I was really annoyed about the specialists, but figured I'd try to look past them as long as the game is fun. I expected a buggy mess on launch, BUT with fun maps/game modes, plenty of destruction and immersive audio making me feel like I was truly part of the epic battles, which was my favorite part of BF games. Well... we got the buggy mess... and nothing I actually wanted/was expecting. Not all past BF maps were good, but many were great, and even the bad ones usually had some good/fun areas in them; not here... the 2042 maps are just so horrid and unfun it's crazy. The destruction is practically nonexistent; destruction was like BF's calling card, how tf did they think it made sense to remove almost all of it? Where are the variety of game modes? Two(I'm not even counting hazard zone, that kind of game mode is not what I play BF games for), and they are both super large scale, breakthrough is a tad bit better bc it's more focused, but it's still huge; there's no standard game modes for smaller/tighter playstyle. The audio just kinda sounds flat, it just doesn't give any epic feelings at all. A lot of stuff is patchable, but I feel like the map design, lack of destruction, weak audio are too much at the core to be changed much; I hope I'm wrong. Unfortunately, I'm past my return period, otherwise I would not keep this junk, and I've never returned a game before. Sad day for BF fans...

And no. I don't mean add additional BF3 assets to Portal. I mean take BF3, the full game and remaster the damn thing. Hell, have a full definitive edition bundle with 1942/43, Bad Company 2 (including the Vietnam expansion) and BF3 with all of it's content (including the Premium exclusive stuff)

I've been a founder of a clan that's been playing Battlefield since 2012 and earlier ... we can't join other players if they have a 4 man squad which sucks but then again I see the positives that servers won't be stacked.... either way I'm tired of dice I'm tired of the community especially on twitter I'm tired of the drama queens who seek drama.
Between dice and the bf community they both are responsible for destroying the bf I fell in love with in 2012.

I haven't played the game other than the beta but there really isn't any excuse for how bad the game was then and seeing next to no improvement to current. I might pick it up later but there is gonna to have been some MAJOR patches and updates before then, for now BF1 and TF will suffice.
