People that listen to jazz think of themselves too highly these days, just because we listen to a style that is a niche these days, doesn't mean we are better than people that listen to other genres, that's why music is so beautiful. If some Korean dude shares this, be happy, it just means these wonderful tunes don't get lost in history, but they become immortal, which is what music is meant for.
comment needs more attention. Elitist attitudes would just kill the genre off since we'd create a toxic environment for new listeners. Couldnt have said it better myself.
I must admit that I discovered Chet Baker on RUclips purely by serendipity. My question is " How the heck did I get along without this awesome music?" Abso freakin lutely brilliant.
I discovered Chet Baker, let's say about 2 months ago. The first song of his that I listened to was Almost Blue. It touched my heart so much that I was speechless. Not to mention that in my 20s, I have been a jazz listener and fan since childhood. Chet inspired me a lot and made me sad that he left this world so early and he had such a beautiful voice that soothes the soul....He will always be remembered! R.I.P 🕊🥀
I first learned of Chet Baker from my first boyfriend. But it was years later, after living a little. After loving a little. After hurting a little bit more from life; from love...that I came to hear the voice. Chet Baker didn't have to meet the devil at the crossroads...the devil came to him.
Agreed but I think Bourbon is more appropriate to this music. Bourbon & Lucky Strikes. Almost to bad that I've given both up. But the music remains, timeless.
Drew SagarO I disagree, I'd have something like a neat lagavulin whilst listening to this. The intense grainy smokey taste, with the long lasting aftertaste...you can still taste it, even when it's long gone. Just like love.
The result of Chet Baker in 2012 is giving the people a chance to view honest, innocent, cool jazz. The Birth of Cool of Miles Davis, was supposedly named after this guy Chet right here. The solo of this song is as simple as it gets. He never over plays and underplays. His soul is the music understood as jazz.
You can tell Chet had some deep feelings by the songs he chooses to sing -- remarkable talent, both playing his trumpet and singing -- a double delight!
I'm glad a lot of people found Chet Baker through Taehyung and became expose to such beautiful jazz music if they haven't already. Jazz sure is powerful! Please give Sonny Stitt, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderly, Charlie Parker, and Charles Mingus a listen if you are looking for more stuff!
Every time I hear Chet Baker's voice and his music, I am like most people I think very deeply touched by his great honesty and sincerety. Sad songs of love suit him well just like this one or I GET ALONG WITHOUT YOU VERY WELL....There are so many. Just close your eyes and listen. It's an overwhelming experience....Thanks a lot for posting this wonderful song.
me too but after i decide to stay single i knew i was not a guy who should be with someone what i did and it was on internet so i didn't talk to her for a month and we broke up but now i'm free and happy but also sad about what i did..
Stumbled across this recording by chance a few days ago and has now become one of my favorite Chet Baker recordings. Chet will live on and be remembered as long as the jazz trumpet is played....Viva Chet Baker !!!
I fall in love too easily I fall in love too fast I fall in love too terribly hard For love to ever last My heart should be well-schooled 'Cause I've been fooled in the past But still I fall in love so easily I fall in love too fast My heart should be well-schooled 'Cause I've been fooled in the past But still I fall in love too easily I fall in love too fast
I came across this song while I was at the Malco Cinema in Rogers, AR before watching Rogue One. I fell in love with this song and it describes me perfectly, unfortunately.
I absolutely fell in love with Chet Baker from the first tme I saw him play here in Vancouer back in the '50's on his frst West Coat tour with Stan Getz and Gerry Mullign
just beautiful but thats chet.listened to him from late 40s on and never get tired of his wonderful playing and singing no wonder he is a cult figure and not just among us old stagers the youngsters dig him too.he was the man.
He was the siren of Heroin. Look and listen, but don't you dare touch.....It was if he was the fruit off "that" tree in the Garden that you didn't mess with, but you did, anyway. A monumental tragedy in an art form full of them. The Parthenon of Pain...
Wonderful. Would it be nice to listen to him play his trumpet or piano live with that smooth voice that is so distinct and unique and so relaxing. There is only one Chet and I guess wish you were born in my era I would listen to you all the time.
spiltmilkmaniac - great words....and Chet is just....thank him for his ART and pleasure and thought we think listening to him.....thank u! peace on yr soul..... "Heroin is only addictive because it's makes you feel better than society can make you feel. Lets make society better so heroin wont be as life crushing." guys....we ALL eat but then why r we different? the same with drugs. some r ingeniously inspired and some- getting low to mud....heroin won't work if u have no great talent....
Never heard this recording...it seems to go one forever and he sounds a little extra drunk/high or something but I still really love it...thanks for posting!

I fell in love with this too easily.

Exactly!
indeed
Ok great but what Korean guy?
I must admit that I discovered Chet Baker on RUclips purely by serendipity. My question is " How the heck did I get along without this awesome music?" Abso freakin lutely brilliant.
6:10-6:35.... That ending.... Speechless
Some of the most simple, yet sublime, phrases ever to come out of a trumpet... Ever.
-during the song- "This is a great song."
-6:35- "GOOD GOLLY, HE DID IT LIVE."
I had no idea a trumpet could sound so soft! Wow this is amazing ❤️
There’s a reason for his trumpet sound, he had no teeth.
Never heard any one play the horn in such a romantic way.
RIP Chet.
Greetings from Iran

Bobby Hackett comes close on "music for lovers"

RicardoL Serrano same here!
beautiful words
Love the post.
I absolutely love his voice and the way he plays the trumpet is different and sweet.
IS THIS WHATS CALLED PERFECTION?
오빠가 좋아했던 이곡
오늘은 오빠의 기일이라 다시 듣네요~ 지금은 어디에 있으려나
that moment when a singer from the 40's describes you better then you could yourself.
He starts singing in the late 50s
+marcos cantera oh i googled it,said something about in the 1940s, my mistake then
Exactly my thoughts
Too true for comfort.
@@BurgerPwner when he came out with “Chet Sings” it was a mind blower - - who knew?
Curious how hearing a genius suffering bring us peace as is curious how he suffered doing what he loved.
Thanks for being that brave, Chet Baker.
He died too young.
He will always be here, no matter time ... his music is here forever
Drugs are a gateway into our individually bright minds and our deepest darkest shadows... For me... Chet Baker's music has done the same...
So good it makes me want a whiskey neat every time i hear it. Gets me right in the feels!
yeah! I totally agree, this song asks for an scotch

Mathew Mayo .. or a scotch whisky which gives me a deeper appreciation of the wonderful ability of Chet!

The most underrated King of Jazz ever, I really wish people do more documentaries on him tho 😪
King of Cool* was his nickname.
Stumbled across this recording by chance a few days ago and has now become one of my favorite Chet Baker recordings.

Thanks Gerald
I toree agree wid you man.
I fall in love too easy myself... The fall is fun, but the injuries are not. They heal though.
beautiful..!!
from South Korea
Also loving this in Korea
I agree with you 100% !
It is. The music is called Jazz, and people still play/learn/write it, and probably will forever.
Jazz of this quality will be added to the classics just like Beethoven.
