Hi, this is the first time for me I hear a non-Genesis version of this masterpiece without missing any voice, instrument or sound. In other words, IMHO this is the absolutely best non-Genesis version ever. My first time I felt a strong listening emotion after the First time I listened to the original one. Massimo: the very first thing I noticed in your playing is that you play Genesis with the exact right touch, articulation, dynamics, sustain pedal work and timing (for my taste that is). Many (great) pianists (and orchestras BTW) play it with what sounds like a 100% classical approach to my ears - and the off beat (syncopated) notes sound all very stiff. Not so in your case - all syncopated notes fit perfectly into the flow - as in the original music! You have the touch of a pianist who plays classical and also jazz/latin. I checked your channel - "Bingo!". :-D Awesome!

Many of the ”classical“ pianists on YT are so ”engrossed“ that they end up butchering the soul out of Genesis songs.
Then there are the other ”types“ who don‘t have the technique or virtitude to do the music justice.

Beh ! per quello che vale la mia opinione , credo che sei uno dei piu' bravi interpreti della musica dei Genesis . Nè ho ascoltati diversi , dal piu' virtuoso al piu' fedele , ma tu Bucci mi sembri quello che da' piu' pregnanza ai loro brani , fedele ma nello stesso tempo , lasci intravedere tutta la " ricchezza " emotiva , che hanno questi brani .

Sono un ''vecchio'' estimatore del primo periodo Genesis, quello con Peter Gabriel e Steve Hackett.
''Selling England by the pound'' è, forse, il migliore album rock mai scritto, e l'apertura di piano di ''Firth of fifth'' crea uno spazio ideale, un'atmosfera quasi religiosa che predispone all'esperienza dell'ascolto.
Nella tua interpretazione ci sono tanta accuratezza quanta sensibilità, rispetto ed amore per lo spartito originale.

This is the best intro I’ve ever heard besides the original and the best cover. The dynamics control and contrast is just as close to perfect as one can get. Also the fact that you were able to successfully turn Steve’s guitar solo into a piano solo is just amazing. Strings to keys is not an easy transition. I listened to the original song a day after hearing this and it’s about as close as one can get. I think Tony would approve

Actually after this video I continued to work on the arrangement to make it even closer to the original and, at the same time, enrich it and better adapt it to the piano (in the vocal part and in the guitar solo). Heard a couple of pianists playing old Genesis. They were good. This is worldclass. OMG! As an old Genesis fan, I buy in all the way through Mr. Bucci and his Yamaha's performance to an extent, where nobody I have heard so far can even begin to match. E-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t and thank you!
I was expecting only the intro, and behold!....a gorgeous piano arrangement of the WHOLE piece! Played as beautifully as it was interpreted and arranged. It would be worth Tony Bank's time to hear your tribute for certain!

My FAVORITE piece of ANY Genesis song, I have all of their songs and this is by far the most beautiful song they ever released and as I am listening to you play this and heard the transition where the band normally joins in.... and there you are just playing the rest of the song, as a piano player for some reason I just started crying... this IS the most beautiful version of the song i've ever heard, all on piano. Ci sono tanti aggiustamenti nell'armonia della parte cantata e della parte in cui il Synth riprende l'introduzione del pianoforte, poi, ci sono nuovi elementi aggiunti prima della parte del flauto, c'è un cambio del basso prima della ripresa cantata e, infine, c'è la coda ampliata.

There are so many adjustments in the harmony of the sung part and of the part where Synth resumes the introduction of the piano, then there are new elements added before the flute part, there is a change of bass before the vocal shooting and, Finally, there is the enlarged tail.

Absolutely beautiful rendition of a Tony Banks classic. I believe a lot of Genesis' early work will stand the test of time. Much like the Classical music my father taught me to appreciate when I was young but didn't really grasp until I was older. Thank you Massimo for sharing your tremendous talent!!
