As a biomedical scientist and licensed aesthetician I feel so proud of you talking about mechanisms of action. Also, a lot of foot creams have ureia in them
Prequel urea is amazing! It pills under my makeup; however, as long as product has time to dry and rub it all the way in…❤. It’s also wonderful for the body & you cannot beat the price
I’ve never understood why people skip their neck, décolleté during their routines. Both areas on me always get treated with same facial skincare products. If I get products I don’t love on my face, they get used on hands & legs.
Me either.. every time I do my skincare, I basically cover everything from the bust and up, so my hands, arms, chest, décolleté, neck and face. And a few times a week I'll do my lower half with my serums etc that didn't work out for my face. It's like you reached inside my brain when you wrote that lol😂 but it's definitely a great habit to have, for sure:)
@@madelynnk9727 What about a very quick dry cream? I also hated the feeling of cream in my hands, but I got a Neutrogena quick dry cream, and I have been using it for a long time.
Because I'm poor and post my shower, which is when i do my skincare, I'm very cold and just want to get my pyjamas on or clothes and cover up. I also can't afford much by way of skin care aside from on my face. Does that help you understand? 😊
Urea has been in use in pharmacy-grade emollients for a long time … but going way back(20+years),when I used to suffer with horrendous splits in skin on my finger tips,I was advised to buy udder cream(that farmers use for their cows) as that was a urea-based product. Farmers had been using it on their own hands, for decades, too ,apparently . It was absolutely fantastic, for hands *and* feet … bright pink, like germolene and a completely mess to use ,but it was a veterinary product with useful human benefits.
I'm German, living in the US and due to my eczema I have loved and used urea for decades now - I'll bring most of my lotions and creme back when I visit Germany. BUT prequel's urea lotion is absolutely wonderful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Love your content 😍
I’ve got the prequel urea lotion & the soothing serum coming in the mail and I am excited! Gold bond has several high-urea moisturizers that I love, but I’m hoping the prequel will replace my ole henricksen cream
Eucerin - Urea Repair moisturiser! I picked it up on a whimp 2 years ago with no knowledge about it and i'm so glad I did! Feel that it comforts and gives a gentle exfloatian too
Good to know! Probably cause the spray isn’t as potent as the cream? Side note, I’d skip the Urea Repair Plus Hand Cream - if your hands are chapped. It’s going to sting
UREA IS SOOOO GOOD!! Transparent labs has 15% urea serum. It’s high in concentration but it works especially for hyper pigmentation. In fact they have a whole urea line.
My skincare focus is mainly to avoid painful acne, and avoid skin cancer. I'm trying not to focus too much on anti-aging because I reject the idea that especially AFAB people getting older is some horrible personal shame. Focusing on things that I can actually address and not the inevitable ravages of time feels more emotionally healthy for me, lol. That said, I'm not immune and We Live In A Society, so I do still have like an eye cream etc. I've pretty much promised myself I won't dye my silver hairs away, and I'm not even really into hair removal that much. I'm a mammal experiencing entropy, oh well.
I feel the same. The types of work best suited for me have my appearance as a factor, so I kind of have to care about it to a degree - however, I fought so hard to be alive to this point, that getting older is a sign of my badassery at this point. Like what bitch, judge me for aging they couldn't handle this life if they tried
I'm exactly the same, but I found what worked best for my acne was actually a retinoid serum and obviously I wear sun cream so anti - ageing seems to be taken care of by accident.... but I'm not complaining
I stopped using my red light mask (Omnilux) for 2 weeks when I was on vacation. I didn’t want to lose it while I was traveling. I’ve used it twice since being back and my skin looks smoother already.
Which version do you have? I've been researching the men's recently as it's supposed to include a wavelength that penetrates deeper, which to a layman (i.e., ME!) that sounds like it might be good, lol.
Oh I tried that one, but it was about 3 years ago, and at the time I didnt like it cause it didnt absorved. But propably they improved the formulation, Im going to give it a try when the Eucerin one that Im using runs out.
I'd like to recommend two face and one body products that contain urea... - Zeroid Richenic Cream Urea 5% - The Inkey List 10% Urea Moisturizer - Dermal Therapy Alpha Hydroxy Lotion (10% Urea and 10% Lactic Acid) This is the absolute best body lotion I've ever used!
So my suggestion is going to sound old school but it WORKS! I use Goldbond’s creams with urea for feet and hands (you can find them at drug store) and they work WONDERS!! My feet used to be so dry all the time and now not even a little bit :)
PHA changed my skin, hands down! I’ve been skincare obsessed and dedicated for 20 years but until adding inkey list PHA and neostrata pha cleaner, (double cleanse with a balm tho) I was always looking for better results. My skin is so smooth and better moisturized, my skin looks better than in 10 years, (maybe ever!) definitely worth it! Nothing else improved my skin the way pha did.
Urea has been an essential for me a few years now, my skin doesn’t feel moisturised enough without it. I love Eucerin’s urea skincare and body care range. But keen to try Altruist urea products next.
I just wanted to thank you. I have been watching you and using products you have recommended. Today, a lady stopped me and said, "you have beautiful skin!" I almost melted in 5he middle of the store. So thanks fie all your knowledge and recommendations. ❤❤❤❤

Thanks James. I recently entered my 50s and I’m in the market for a new moisturizer. I’m so sensitive, I simply can’t tolerate retinoids so these suggestions are just perfect timing for me. Thanks again lovely.
I absolutely LOVE the urea cream!! I use the same brand in the video. I have this one spot on my ankle that keeps cracking, super annoying as it always get caught on my bed sheets etc and hurts every time that happens. I've tried all kinds of super moisturizing hand creams, aquaphor healing ointment, dead skin remover, nothing worked! There was already significant improvement after the first time I applied the cream! Now it's finally no longer dry/cracking/red after using it for 3 weeks! It's a miracle!!! 😂
Nursem hand cream is my favourite - it was developed in association with nurses who are constantly washing their hands and is so soothing and smells amazing. No urea in it but so many other lovely ingredients.
Yessss, ureia hand cream!! We got a free tube from a clinic of the Dermal Therapy Very Rough Hands cream and my partner has seen amazing results with the ureia as an active in this hand cream, it helps with healing his constant cuts and broken skin, and it's reducing the overall rough feel too, after so many types of hand cream this one works we enough that he's used it consistently.
I’m a person that is in my late 40 with very dry and aging skin , I’m more into Korean Hanbang skincare that is focus on traditional Korean medicine , anti aging and skin support And of course I always apply skincare on my neck cause thats one important tip that I learned from ( Cindy Crawford)
I use Eucerins products, mind you, the body lotion (10 %) I can only use it around arms and legs. If using elsewhere I get itchy and develop rash. Don’t know why is that. Anyway, wouldn’t change it for the world. Does wonders to my skin!
Yay early!! I have a question tho, I’ve noticed that some of the videos (esp on the twin channel) haven’t had Ashon’s brilliant captions recently, so just wondering the reason or when they’ll be coming back??
I have the body lotion version of that same urea cream and I, too, use it on my face! It's worked really well on my body. I'm not sure yet about any noticeable effect on my face (didn't start doing this long ago), but it's a nice one!
I’ve been using Eucerin for years and it’s the only moisturiser that seems to help/keep my eczema at bay, I’m currently using the UreaRepair Plus 10% urea and I can’t go without
I need to incorporate this stuff. I've had a sugar addiction, and it really has destroyed my collagen prematurely. I'm only 24 and look 35+😂😢😅 thanks for the tips. Love from u.s.❤🎉
Been watching your RUclips videos for past 6 -7 years and I still waiting for your favourite product recommendations. Do you use any eye protectant when using face led mask? And what products do you use after led mask? Anything to avoid?
I've seen urea products in Germany, easily available in drugstores. In the Netherlands I've found the Kneipp special care body milk with 10% ureum. It's fantastic. I use it on my hands every night and also as spot treatment on my face if i have a dry patch!
Urea is a common ingredient used in products for scaly areas of the body like elbows and heels sold in Japan and is considered to be a low-grade OTC when formulated at 10% (used to work as a chemist there). Interestingly, Hada Labo marketed to the US has a gel moisturizer (Skin Plumping Gel Cream) that is formulated with a urea derivative (not marketed to have the same exfoliation efficacy as urea) and it is very moisturizing without being sticky! *Japanese version is the all-in-one gel from the gold line (Hada Labo Perfect Gel)
The urea lotion from Prequel is a newer favorite of mine! I've been using it for about a month now, and my skin is very happy. Helped to get rid of my keratosis pilaris on my arms. It also doesn't really have a scent to it, which I love. Also, their urea foot rescue is phenomenal for people who get callouses or cracks easily. Highly recommend.
On antiaging i am also drooling for mary and may sunscreen stick bakuchiool and peptides - the inventor must be genius (cause you re apply day in theory)! Urea btw also in ordinary but from your favorite brand cerave :P
Back in the day I used to use a Nivea(?) face cream with urea and it was never sold in the states. I think I got it from the UK bc I think at the time the US didn't allow it in skincare or something. Idk this was like 15 years ago. But I loved it. I'm so glad to see prequel has a lotion with urea in it. It's on my shelf ready to be tested as soon as the giant bottle of* barrier therapy is done. (Also rosacea type 1 here!)
Hi James,, greetings from New York City. I love your reviews, thank you and yes Prequel Urea Lotion is awesome, it works. I’m frankly surprised that area hasn’t been available as much as I believe it should be. Have a great day.😎
I mostly see urea in heel balms and other foot products that target dryness in the feet. It's a great adjunct to the acids found in many of these products.
Niche Beauty Lab (think Theramid) has a nice Urea Face Serum with 15% urea that I like. First Aid Ultra Barrier Repair is my go to for red, inflamed, cracked skin barrier and uses colloidal oatmeal as the active calming agent. Hope this is useful.
I love my red light panel! I got it for my skin and it ended up helping manage my long term neck pain! I wouldn’t bother with a red light mask- get a panel. More multipurpose!
Awesome content as usual ❤ Remedy’s Body Bumps is another good product with Urea aaaaand it has lactic acid aaaand retinol. Sounds pretty amazing. It just came back into stock a few days ago. Purchased it and hoping it’s good 🤞🏼
Amusingly, I can use urea products everywhere except my face and hands. Leaves both feeling and looking like 240 grit sandpaper; however, urea products work incredibly well everywhere else. The urea milk from Prequel is the least irritating to my face and hands but both require more intense moisture. Still searching for the perfect night facial moisturizer ...
Omg JAMES! I used my first (and obviously best) mask the other day but it was for hands! It was an impulse purchase i made months ago so its been sitting for quite a while. I was bored and decided to try it. I've NEVER seen such an instant, noticable, amazing difference from a mask before! AND, it was only a few dollars at Sally! Even a week later my hands still great! I'm half tempted to cut them and put them on my face 😆 I do also need to say, i put a few drops of castor oil on my hands before putting the masks on. And i also nodded off so they were on for an hour longer than the package suggested 😂
Just started using the inkey list urea which is supposed to be for dry skin. I use it in the evenings and already seen a difference in inflammation/ itchiness in just over a week. I have acne prone/ sensitive skin 🫡
I love your videos, and what you to know you've made an actual difference in my life and how I feel about myself. My skin looks and feels great because it's what I've learned from you, and I enjoy the brief skincare rituals I've built. Also, re the VT 700--I know you've been hesitant, but do it! The jump in "static" from 300 to 700 is less noticeable than from 100 to 300. I followed it with the mask and it's like face sex 🤣🤣 Highly recommend!!
I personally do find that most products with hyaluronic acid can cause irritation to my skin and unfortunately it is in almost everything so I have to be really careful. I also have rosacea so I am a bit more sensitive than most. Products with hyaluronic acid really sting around the corners of my nose so I can't really use any products there at all except for things like the Numbuzin Pure Full Toner and the Purito Relief Barrier moisturiser which don't contain hyaluronic acid or any serious actives. It's so frustrating.😅
Idk if anyone else has said this but I think it’s important to keep in mind how the natural process of subcutaneous fat loss as we age is going to be a massive factor in how we gauge how “well” we’re aging. Absolutely 100% do the most for your skin - I agree, but remember you will lose volume all over your body, and that will “age” you. That’s where filler, or more invasive cosmetic procedures will come into play in your beauty routine.
In the US we have a brand called Uderly Smooth it’s drug store and it’s main selling point is urea. Also how are people not doing their hands?! I’ve been slathering my hands with thick hand cream and sleeping in cotton gloves since my twenties. It’s simple and during the winter you’re saving your cuticles!
Hello James ☺️ I've been using urea cream for years because I get cracks in the skin around my nails, it was sold as "chapped heel balm" No mention of urea, but I noticed it was the privacy active ingredient. I'd have never thought of using on my neck, will give it a try, thanks! My mum recently gave me a retinol serum, I don't recall the brand, but wouldn't have been mega, as came from Waitrose. I used it for a few nights, I, like you have really reactive skin. Each night I applied it, my skin started to burn more & more, so I gave it back 😂 Is it worth me trying another brand? Any other suggestions? ❤
There is a Spanish brand canned ISDN that has ben using urea for decades. The best body cream I have ever used is called ureadin. In Spain it doesn’t smell like anything but the version they sell in Germany smells like.. old person (?). Thankfully it doesn’t linger. I would for sure try it if you have sensitive skin
I couldn't of said it better, I just want to look after my skin for my health but also to look and feel my best without having invasive procedures (terrified of needles so literally could never have botox) 😅
Red light panels are stronger than the masks but less convenient. I use my Mito red light panel everyday along with my FOREO Bear microcurrent face zapper thing. It is a commitment but I have definitely seen a marked improvement in my skin.😊
I have the CurrentBody 4 in 1 LED mask! I dont use the eye guards because I want my eye area to get treated too (fine lines and dark circles). I just close my eyes with a video on 🤷🏻♀️
Hyaluronic acid (for all adult ages), Collagen (muture skin), squalane (all adult ages). That is what I would say. I certainly would not recommend (Pro) Retinol because it is very agressive and can cause rash aespecially on the eyes. P.s if people have to guess my age they guess me 10 years younger than I really am.
BE CAREFUL putting 10% urea products for your feet/hands on your face!! I say this as someone who has made this error myself 😂 I like to try things what can I say! I don’t even have particular sensitive skin but - oh my god - the burning. I had to wash it off within 5 minutes. There are urea products with lower, more appropriate percentages of urea (including from shiseido) that are safer and much less irritating if you want to use it on your face. It’s also a great product for KP and ingrown hairs because it helps breaks down keratin - it’s great. Be careful if you’re going to use 10% on your face! Or just don’t do it haha ❤
Light therapy has been THE BEST treatment for my psoriasis. I don't advocate tanning beds for regular tanning, but sometimes in mid-winter I'll have extremely bad flare-ups and 5min 2x a week in a tanning bed for a couple weeks completely clears my skin up! (It's not even enough time to give my very pale skin a little bit of redness, just long enough to soak up the theraputic value. And I still use sunscreen on my face and neck/chest.) Also, niacinimide! My whole forehead was covered in psoriasis the winter I started using The Ordinary niacinamide; it was cleared up in 3 weeks.
I keep GA for my body, it did work well (superdrug naturally radiant one) for my face, until i got prescribed a round of duac (benzoyl peroxide + something), its the only time i damaged my skin barrier where water itself stung (did heal up in 2 weeks of no actives), since then ive only had pha and a SA tonic for my face
Oh I’m totally pivoting from addressing oily skin by use of AHA/BHA to using BHA twice a week but using waaaay more moisture. It works on my tone with lots less redness. Ret/SPF of course BUT more moisture that isn’t heavy has changed my skin. Essences ftw. I’m 53, pale as a ghost and aging just fine given my misspent yoof 🤣. Oh bit of stamping, Dr D Gross mask daily, ingesting collagen and drinking a lot of water. Boring but it works.
Great video James:) Hey so I have a request/question for you.. have you ever heard of the skincare brand called Iota? It's a body skincare targeted brand, and I just purchased their body serum and the brightening body wash this morning. It looks really good, the ingredients look great and the reviews are also really good as well. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm really excited to, and I'd love if if you could take a look at them and if you think you'd like it, maybe do a little review on them please?🙏❤ I think you'd like them:) Thanks so much!✨
Just saw a podcast on Andrew Huberman's channel on skin - very sciencey. The guest mentioned it is proven that retinoIDS reduce skin cancer risk. I didn't agree with everything said but I think you'd enjoy it overall, James.
I am currently using Niche Beauty Labs Transparent Labs Urea Face Serum. I like that it has 15% Urea, but I find sometimes with my skin any Dimethicone products cause any products put on afterward to pill quite a lot. Maybe I am using too much, but even with a small amount it seems to happen.
Oh I was searching for face led masks 😅 Considering buying one, but since Im in Europe, it gets expensive to buy one from US... 😬 This technology is very well studied, and thats true, it is needed discipline to use it regulary and to make the money wort it.

Sameeee unfortunately
Been watching your RUclips videos for past 6 -7 years and I still waiting for your favourite product recommendations. Do you use any eye protectant when using face led mask? And what products do you use after led mask? Anything to avoid?
Thank you 🥹 I do! If you search ‘tanning bed eye protection’ into Amazon, I use those like..black eye protector things lol
Love this urea cream by Shiseido. Saves my hands every time. I use it after the shower
Isdin has a urea body cream, and its so smooth in the skin!
On antiaging i am also drooling for mary and may sunscreen stick bakuchiool and peptides - the inventor must be genius (cause you re apply day in theory)! Urea btw also in ordinary but from your favorite brand cerave :P
God I love cerave 🥲😂 omg I always forget about that sunscreen! 😍
Have a great day.😎
I need to find an inexpensive dark spot remover
There’s a company I love called Midermus that has a whole line of products with urea as an ingredient. Honestly love them and are quite affordable
I mostly see urea in heel balms and other foot products that target dryness in the feet. It's a great adjunct to the acids found in many of these products.
James what do you think of the Made by Mitchell skin prep skincare collection?? Could you maybe review it / go through the ingredients etc please xx 😊
I use Altruist Dry Skin Repair Cream 10% Urea I get it for £5.66 for 200ml on Amazon, I have dry sensitive skin and it's great!
Thank you for sharing the better-aging and firming powers of reneseed and goat milk exesomes, James!!
I actually like the Altruist 10% Urea dry skin repair cream
Love you I really take a lot of advice from your skin care. Thank you for all you do.❤
A lot of Goldbond lotions have urea...cheap & available almost everywhere in the US.
Altruist has got amazing urea products, I'm ding the hand cream and is fantastic ❤
Wow that’s really educating. Thanks
My husband has mild psoriasis and swears by The Inkey List 10% Urea Moisturiser!
Omg I forgot they did one!
I use that one for my face at night, its good!
The new proactiv commercial is using a line very similar to the one you always open your videos with about progression over perfection
Eucerin Urea Repair and Kerasal ointment are both excellent products with urea.
The urea hand creams you have are by Shiseido! Great brand, this is their drugstore line.
I'm half tempted to cut them and put them on my face 😆
I do also need to say, i put a few drops of castor oil on my hands before putting the masks on. And i also nodded off so they were on for an hour longer than the package suggested 😂
My next big purchase will be a red light unit, they are definitely an investment. Thank you for this video!
My urea rec is from Dr Gray actually the Hada Labo Perfect Gel Cream. Great as a layer before my moisturizer.
Die Totes-Meersalz-Creme von Bio Allgäu ist ein echter Feuchtigkeitsspender für meine Haut, ich bin begeistert.
I followed it with the mask and it's like face sex 🤣🤣
Highly recommend!!
Thankyou James 😊❤
Also: the Medline Remedy line has several offerings containing urea. I found them on Amazon, but I'm pretty sure they have their own website.
I really like Beekman1802 products. My skin loves Milk Shake and their SPF Milk Primer is my favorite mineral sunscreen.
When will prequel deliver to the UK 😮💨
Prequel makes a urea based cream. It’s great!
Yessssss I’ve lost some weight recently but I also feel like I’ve aged 5 years haha
@@JamesWelsh I feel you, things don’t snap back into place like they used to 🥲🥲
In the US we have a brand called Uderly Smooth it’s drug store and it’s main selling point is urea. Also how are people not doing their hands?! I’ve been slathering my hands with thick hand cream and sleeping in cotton gloves since my twenties. It’s simple and during the winter you’re saving your cuticles!
Transparant Lab has a few urea products for the face that are both nice to use and affordable
Oh I’ve not heard of them before!
Each night I applied it, my skin started to burn more & more, so I gave it back 😂
Is it worth me trying another brand? Any other suggestions?
❤
There is a Spanish brand canned ISDN that has ben using urea for decades. The best body cream I have ever used is called ureadin. In Spain it doesn’t smell like anything but the version they sell in Germany smells like.. old person (?). Thankfully it doesn’t linger. I would for sure try it if you have sensitive skin
I couldn't of said it better, I just want to look after my skin for my health but also to look and feel my best without having invasive procedures (terrified of needles so literally could never have botox) 😅
Yeah and that’s what’s most important to me. I think we should care for our changing skin as we age
I just close my eyes with a video on 🤷🏻♀️
I noticed in Germany the drugstores have a lot of lotions and showergels with urea
Drs. Maxfield and Shah from @Doctorly agree with your assessment about the red light wands. 😊. Thank you for this video! Very helpful.
BE CAREFUL putting 10% urea products for your feet/hands on your face!!
I say this as someone who has made this error myself 😂
I like to try things what can I say!
I’ve visited Beekman Farm and met their goats!
I love goats!!
He’s constantly debunked by scientists! Please don’t listen to Huberman.
For me, adding copper peptides and tranexamic acid to my skincare made a huge difference.
The ODD EYE CIRCLE Girl Front sample in the beginning 😭
🥲
Oh I was searching for face led masks 😅
Considering buying one, but since Im in Europe, it gets expensive to buy one from US... 😬
This technology is very well studied, and thats true, it is needed discipline to use it regulary and to make the money wort it.
