I hate these content creators ruining it for everyone. A lot of us grew up as quiet polite people who grew up on Japanese media (music games and of course anime). Now a bunch of people who look like me are now going to Japan and giving us a bad name. These types of people used to disdain people who liked Japanese culture and media as "for nerds" and now they are going to Japan and ruining things.

@@LIIIIIFEyou have to understand the “black” people in these videos are of AFRICAN descent. They are not black Americans who are the descendants of those who were enslaved. We are a different ethnic group and have had relations with Japan for decades. Hence why hip hop culture is big there. You can find old videos of black Americans going to Japan doing culture exchange. But black Americans do not immigrate very much so Africans are the ones coming there seeing how Japan loves black American culture and using that to come there and pretend to be the same people. Look at the backgrounds of those acting up there. They are African. Mostly Nigerian and ghanian sadly but also East African like Somali and Sudanese whenever I check their background.

i live in Nairobi, Kenya, and you wouldn't believe it if i told you that just yesterday on Saturday while walking through central Nairobi, i got stopped by a nuisance "content creator" from another african country asking really dumb questions to passers by, many of whom were nonplussed by the sheer stupidity of the things they were asked. It appears that many of these "content creators" know that Kenya is a place that they are GUARANTEED to have their numbers blow up on account of our huge share of the digital space on our continent, so they come here unhinged with 1 intention only: subs and likes. The questions asked were borderline insane so i won't elaborate since i respect RUclips family values principles on comments/content uploaded. But as we seen with a certain individual who 1st created a scene while he was in Japan & is about to FAFO in South Korea, it only takes a handful of such folks to mess it up for all of us. & just a while ago, a 65 year old White dude from American got in trouble in Japan for messing with a shrine. It's as tourists forgot tour rule #1- respect the values & culture of the country you're visiting.

I don't see "them" apologizing or feeling any apprehension whenever they step abroad for the actions that their entire nations have done. Remember that when a few of us engage in ignorance, it is always highlighted more than "others." We rarely control the narrative of ourselves, especially internationally.
It's a shame that we live in a world where ignorance is rewarded. There once was a time when we would never do anything publicly that would bring shame back to our families, but that does not exist in a world where people have no shame. It's all about the likes and viewership.

Nuisance streamers aren’t just doing it for money (there are many other ways to stream and make much more money), they do it because on some level they derive pleasure from seeking negative attention and humiliating or causing distress/discomfort in others (and so do the people who find this kind of content entertaining). Black People are highly respected in Japan in regards of Jazz, Hip Hop and Art since the 50s, influencing generations, specially after the horrors they suffer after WW2. Sadly, Narcissist content creators from all over the world, but specially from USA, are in Japan just for the easy money with no empathy at all from a tolerant culture. Japanese and Asians are not Judea-Christians (the colonialist victimization mind control sect that we normalize who tolerates abuse) but they are Sintoist and Confusionists, that means they think in the good of the collective first and second. This is the reason why Japanese are tolerant, not because they are weak. Since Hiroshima they can relate with the modern world genocide victims from places, Japanese embassy do a fenomenal work helping Africa & South America with technology. Thank you for talking about this, this problem started last year with American Karens taking pictures to Geishas in an aggressive way. Cheers!

In Japan, it is very common to use animenized animals such as bears, foxes, raccoons, and monkeys in posters. Of course, these animals don’t represent or imply any specific race or ethnicity.
To avoid misunderstanding, it’s important not to project your cultural or societal context onto others.

    • @NarutoOnDope
      @NarutoOnDope Месяц назад +8

@Glowsaphinebaker i'm going to delve a bit deep into psychology, sociology, and be straight up. it's because of how we're portrayed in the media. A lot of humans as a survival mechanism create negative unconscious biases towards certain groups based off patterns that could be "threatening" to their tribe. So when said "group" that has a similar appearance is shown to be linked with "low vibration" and "negative" things. Unfortunately, people from the outside are going to be more critical of us. Another aspect of it, for hundreds of years now, white people have socially engineered people to view them as "conquerors and the epitome of what success looks like". They've colonized the world. So naturally, humans will be less critical of them when they make mistakes or do bad things because these people simp for them. I'm a black man and this has hurt me for years but I just deal with it and live my best life. The only thing we can do is continue to be respectful around Japanese people.

The other poster is real, but notice there are a variety of animals on the train including foxes, bears, and lions. Sora said those posters are not new and have been there before the recent drama so it is not directed to him or people of his race. Basically being loud on the train in JP is considered rude.
As for people treating JP like a giant tourist attraction or theme park? People from different countries come to the U.S. and do the same things. I think there is a Tiktok dedicated to them where they are called "tourons" (so tourist morons) that show people doing things to cause damage at national parks, monuments, and other places.

This is not just a recent occurrence. This has been going on for decades in Japan, from I had experienced while being deployed there back in 84, 90, and being stationed there in 1994, it was primarily certain member's of the U.S. Military on liberty. These 5% would go out on liberty and start showing their ass giving the U.S. military as a whole, a bad look and name. I remember back then, every time I was over there, there would be protest by Japanese wanting the U.S. Military removed. Sometimes, when going out on liberty, I felt embarrassed and guilty leaving the base

Japan is approaching the problem wrong. How can it hold millions of respectful tourists responsible for the individual trouble maker’s behavior? That’s collective punishment mentality. Why can’t they arrest the individual and give him/her a warning? If the individual repeats it, deport them and ban him/her for a period of time. If after the banned period, the individual does it again, ban him/her for life. It’s quite simple to solve. Why complicate the problem by blaming tourists and races?

There is a lot to take from this video but one thing is that as for foreigners, especially American and even more for black (and I know some may dispute but it is fact) it only takes ONE person to act out and behave crudely to cause MORE stereotypes and prejudice about all black people, and for foreigners that act out it does impact and that should be regarded as well but the impact still isn't the same. Ranzo is right it takes one bad apple; humans are naturally more likely to be triggered and remember Negative events than positive and it sucks. Mainland Japan may become more like Okinawa, where there has been protesting for decades about foreigners, not only because of military presence but because of a few military men causing problems raping and even killing girls, being disruptive and even military members' kids being disrespectful to property which I witnessed a few years ago so its still happening. For people like Ranzo and myself who spent time in countries like Japan, being courteous, respectful, friendly and setting a good example, that is all muddled by behavior like this.
As for the sign with the apes that was created, this is also a problem, it may have taken ONE person who worked with the city and was directly targeted by an incident and angered to come up with that sign in retaliation and post it, but Japanese will not say anything if seeing it nor will speak against and just let the sign be or ignore it because it does not directly pertain to them.
But it still reflects on all of Japan to the rest of the world who sees it in this video/elsewhere, they should think about who allowed this to be printed and think it is ok as a response to combat that behavior in the country, as if any black person would actually read that and abide by it? I don't see that being the goal here. There are better ways to combat this issue that labeling all black people as wild apes.
Also again about the guy who did that in the train station and is from NY?? must not have seen the news about the guy choke hold to death in the NYC subway (I know the incident is another topic but focusing on those with behavior that heavily disturbs others on a train) - should be mindful of behavior in public, and to think that to bother people in Tokyo is going to be more accepted? He should ask himself is that how he would like to be treated. But he possibly could have some underlying mental issue or else just immature- along with the others "inspired", and if that is the case he really has no business being in another country let alone in public behaving this way and should seek help, and sadly I guarantee the viral views are mostly coming from kids (I have seen so may age 10-17 more in the comments of similar content ,not on Tiktok but other social streams stating their age -boasting probably since some bans are coming out for underage social media use primarily in the US and NZ not sure about others- and the way they talk is so disturbing and disrespectful, what is happening with this generation??). not saying its only kids but its the most I and others have seen behaving like this.
I will conclude by saying as someone who studied a bit in to psychology and human behavior, that the lack of humanity and moral behavior is getting WORSE. Being American, I think it hits 'home' more but I think globally there should be more pushes for addressing mental health and behavioral issues because it only takes is one small incident and then another life is carelessly lost. And unfortunately world peace and even total intercultural unity is a goal and not a foreseen possibility (speaking as a realist here) , humans will always judge heavily against whoever is not in their cultural/ethnic group, not everyone but some. But that doesn't mean we don't try to keep striving to reach that goal of unity and unbiased judgment as well as humanity. We should always strive to treat others as we want to be treated and with respect.

As being half Japanese, I'm going to say that while there are nuances to Japan's distaste for outsiders, it all just comes down to xenophobia - Japan doesn't like anyone. Even if you were full blood Japanese but grew up elsewhere, they still look at you differently. Now speaking to the "black" part, News Flash: Not many places care for black people or more specifically, "darker people". Many nations have a history with colorism that existed well before encountering European colonialism. Even throughout the African continent, we're not "one of them".

Stereotypes are hard enough to escape for us so the last thing we need is people actively going out in public bringing us all down. Respect the culture of other countries and be respectful in public. I can't understand why that's hard for some people. Johnny Samali and streamers like him need to be made an example out of and either be arrested for disturbing the peace or be placed on a permanent no fly list from these countries he's been acting like an idiot in. Tourist misbehavior like defacing cultural landmarks or abusing wildlife often reflects a combination of ignorance, entitlement, and a lack of cultural sensitivity.
Here’s a deeper analysis of why such incidents occur. Some tourists may not fully understand or respect the cultural significance of the places they visit.
Shrines in Japan, for instance, are deeply spiritual and sacred, and harming them can offend locals and disrupt cultural heritage. Misunderstanding local customs, like the treatment of Nara’s sacred deer, also contributes to disrespectful actions.
Certain tourists, particularly those from wealthier or more dominant cultural backgrounds, may exhibit entitlement, viewing foreign destinations as playgrounds for personal amusement rather than places deserving respect.
