- Our Beko WM74155 LW waching machine door handle broke off so we sourced the part from the BEKO website for £6.10 and I decided to fix it myself in stead of calling out a washing machine engineer for £80.00
The repair took 30 minutes. hope this video helps.

Top drawer advice there my man. Wife isn't talking to me, the kids have run away and the dog is hiding in the shed, but, I fixed it. The air was blue I tell you.
You're a legend!
Cheers mate,
Ed.
Got a code 8 on my beko wm series . Found out with the help of youtube repaired my self ,whipped the motor out and replaced the brushes. Great vid will be saved!!!!😃😃😃😃😃😃☕☕☕☕☕
I’ve just replaced mine with the use of your video. Stalled at getting tension on the spring. After checking several times the correct fitting of spring and handle, which I had done correctly. It was the positioning of the two prongs on the spring. It would have been helpful to have shown before putting on the facing panel where these should have been positioned and that sliding the panel across rather than putting it on the top and pushing down would actually made things easier. Took me an age to work it out but do have to say the rest of the video was very helpful. You may want to add a clip pointing out the location of the spring prongs which would make it clearer.😊
Always nice to see you repair most anything. The real take away from you or anybody else repairing things is, even if you don't know how something is assembled, taking pictures, or in your case video, as you disassembling anything enables you to reassembly it back again without any issues. And as you disassemble anything, a little general understanding of things really helps to figure out how it works. If you don't have that general ability to understand such things, let someone else do it! Thumbs Up Martin!
Hi Martin .
Thank you for your in depth video relating to putting a new catch on a Beko washing machine. It's the best one on RUclips as I have watch a few others and they definitely leave important bits out . Has saved a bit of money for me which I am very grateful for .
Very interesting video Martin and Sharon. My hubby loves watching you as he learns something new each time. Thank you
Martin you are a jack of all trades you can come and mend my washing machine but live to far away in Essex .well done mate. love the videos.👍
I can't lie. Your a life saver bro
Grand job, great assistant well done both x
Many thanks for the video, it's just enabled me to fix our machine having done the classic "take it apart without taking pictures and immediatly forget how it went together".
You're welcome!
Literally me today! 😆😅
Absolute legend mate. You're the only video on RUclips that showed the bit about the spring having to clip in properly with the ring. Was stumped for ages wondering why it wouldn't lock when I had it all back together. Big thanks!
No problem 👍
Exactly the same thing happened to me. stumped for hours until I looked at your video were you showed the spring having to clip in properly. Thanks
I think this has just solved my problem too…
Thank you for this video Martin very clear and concise and saving folks lots of money.
Looks like Barney's thinking I helped too (so sweet)!
Excellent video. Helped me successfully replace the door handle after I got stuck trying to sort it out myself! Quite a tricky repair, so thank you very much.
For the record, our model is WM 7043 CW
Glad it helped!
Thanks mate this helped me do mine couldn’t work that spring out for ages! Another video I watched didn’t show him do it. Thanks again!
Brilliant instructions for fixing the door handle, used 2 other videos, neither showed how to get the back plate for the hinge out, so ours dropped into the depths of the machine, luckily we were able to tip the machine and retrieve it, nor did they mention about the spring position. Well done, you're a life saver!
Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video
This is great, saved me a repair vi$it. I found that it helped to angle the door plate to push the spring toward the edge while reassembling. This makes sure that the spring is tensioned on when everything goes together.
Nice to see your other projects around the house. Now it is time to go back to the Trotter van!
Well done Martin another brilliant video
Was lovely seeing you both together brilliant video.
john UK London
Thank you Martin very helpful. Cheers Tony
Martin, you have absolutely no idea how many people worldwide will be like "thank goodness I've seen this thing on RUclips by that Retro Dude" when their door handle breaks, just like mine did, having no idea how to fix it and being appalled at what the service dude was gonna charge! 👍👍👍
This video is awesome! Big thank you! 👍
Great video Martin. People should definitely give it a go and try to fix some of the problems themselves, most of the fixes are just common sense really.
Cheers, Jeff.
agree but a little guide gives you more clues as what to watch out for.
Another fantastic video cheers Martin and Mrs B👍👍
Thanks for the vid my machine has done the same you have saved me a few quid there only thing I need is a glamorous assistant
Great job repairing the door.
Nice job "Del Boy", thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this video and actually talking about the spring. It's worked and I now have a functioning door handle again!
You're welcome!
Excellent video much better than the others particularly as it shows you the problem with getting the spring right cheers mate
Thank you Martin you make the job look so easy really enjoy watching from South Africa

Many thanks for posting this video, a really good tutorial that helped me fix my washing machine! I managed to replace the handle without removing the hinge from the machine which saved a bit of time / hassle 👍
Glad it helped

Nearest you've come to using a washing machine for a while! 😂 easy fix when you know how. Can't beat the old twin tub!!
nice easy fix martin well done now Sharon can get he washing done
Great job
Happy washing 😂
U handled that well Martin 😀😀😀
I can tell you have done that before Martin top job! 👍🏻
It worked well, thank you 😊 🙏.
God bless 🙌.
It was good washing this vid ! Cheers Martin
Well done to the lady as without the part is not much you can do :) . LOL - well done to both of you.
Superb, helped me fix my machine. Many thanks.
You're welcome!
Thank you! Replaced our door handle with the help of your video
Glad it helped!
Nice, clear video
Same thing happened to my beko, I did it myself too, nearly a year ago.
It’s gut wrenching how much it costs for a service call, then the part markup. My Whirlpool washer lid switch failed 2 years ago. The machine wouldn’t spin out. Pattern part on Amazon for $7.00., dealer $48.00, after a couple of RUclips videos, and Vickie’s help, after 30 minutes, all good. Just gotta diy!
Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much, this was perfect for me to follow and fix my machine handle! Really clear instructions and explanations, much appreciated! :)
Getting that sprung wire back on was tricksy though! I got my glamorous assistant to pin the wire in place with the edge of a screwdriver, while I worked the spring and rest of the wire back on with two other screwdrivers, where the extra section of rubber sits to the bottom left. All in working order and looks like it's all right! Thanks again for a great tutorial ,👍🌟🌟🌟
Well done and you saved yourself a call out charge too.
@@retrorestore aye, that's a massive saving!
Great video, saved me a few quid 👌👍
Thank you buddy. Your video is very good. I changed today Door Handle
Great 👍
I just thank God that your big retro Y Fronts had been removed from the drum before you took the job on Mart!!!
Nice...👍
Nice one mate 👍
Thanks bud
thanks for this - saved us a load of money! :)
You're welcome!!
Nice tidy fix Martin.
Cheers Pete
Did someone try and open the door before the door timer was ready lol another interesting video that a lot of people will find useful.
just wear n tear
perfect martin buddy
Martin, knowing what you know now, you would've got away with not disturbing the door seal if you'd been very careful but it was a wise precaution and not a problem. Who'd have though that even washing machines have Torx screws these days? I've just checked our Beko WMB 714422 B and that has Torx screws too. Nice to know that genuine replacement parts aren't always expensive. We used to have a White Knight 77AW tumble dryer that I'd repaired a few times. We now have a Beko DCU 7230 B that compliments our washing machine quite nicely.
Yes Dave but if a ham fisted person removed the door, they might have still disturbed the bracket so removing is showed how the lugs sit for the rear bracket. Not only that, it also showed how the seal as held in place.
Good video but popping the metal ring on at the end was not clear. Use some clamps to clamp ring in place and feed round leaving the spring part last and ease over
Nice one - saved a few bob there mate! :0)
You don't even need to take the seal off. Just be careful not to hit it after the door is off,as it's hooked on. Great vid,no annoying music.
Hi Martin, it's funny that you have the washing machine in the kitchen in Australia we have a separate laundry room.
In UK we have them fitted in Kitchen, we are limited with house space here.
In Albania (I am Albanian) we have them fitted in Bathrooms
@@dinocitozi9216 That is properly a good idea.
I do the same thing for my Frigidaire washer and dryers God bless Parts catalogs
Martin my wife said Sharon needs her own toolbox. My wife said Come on Sharon you can do it!
Haha, her tool box is the cutlery draw lol
@@retrorestore okay. I will tell my wife. This is not to be good!
Good fix Martin & sharon I think baby needs a mention as she helped 💃
TOP !!!!
Nicely done Martin I bet that metal clip on the seal was a nightmare
Yes, it was a bit tricky
Can't beat beko appliances. We have a beko washing machine and tumble dryer and dishwasher and cooker
jobs a good un Martin and Sharon.
good job martin gary from crewe
Martin- I feel like you have done that repair before. I bet you got a box full of those latch parts in your shed. 🤣
Anyway. I know people that would go out and buy a new machine instead of the repair. I bet you saved somebody some money by showing this video.
I watched all your tshirt programs
Good job saved a few quid-not necessary to bother yourself taking the seal clamp off thats why the backing plate has the lugs so it stays in place when screws have been removed -the model numbers and letters stand for certain stuff ie WM=Washing Machine then 7 is the kg capacity, 15 is for 1500 spin and the LW the W for the colour the 4 ,5 and L I'm not sure but could be to do with the amount of main wash progs and special progs -bit of useless info for ya -great vids keep em coming
Yes, Lee, thanks for the info.
Hello ,MR & MRS.B
happy wife happy life.
Thanks Martin I will share this with dusty just in case SHE breaks it .lol
Haha, nice one Snobby lol
Por favor coloque legenda português Brasil
Great one martin theses are skills most don’t have but should basic diy
Otherwise some folk may have got a new machine because of age as cheapness of some new machine
For the sake of just over £6 it the. COST of certain householders repairs would it not make common sense
To learn from books or this learning platform like you have martin first class content
Thanks Chris.
Martin , Make sure you disconnect the mains supply before placing your hand inside the washing machine . Don't want you getting electrocuted.
I was a sparks for 25 + years Steve.
BTW, Martin, I just left my plastic coffee pot too near a hot stove and a part of the bottom just started to melt and got disfigured all over. The container inside is still watertight and ok. The thing cost 59 Euros and I don't wanna dump it just like that (I'm from Swabia, Germany, and we're legendarily parsimonious...😎). Could you maybe do a video on how to repair melted plastic parts if the rest of the item is still functional? That would be great!
I wouldn't know where to start with that one i'm afraid lol.
we have this exact model, may I ask after the washing is done the light is on "End" but the door is not opening. I have checked the filter drained the water but the door still is not opening , do you know why? and how can i fix it?
Sorry, I wouldn't know without seeing it.
@@retrorestore thanks for the response
Just like that
Went through 2 washing machines about 3 years back, one was a beko, absolutely rubbish (the one I had was anyway) electric faults knew no end. Was a shame as we used to have a beko previously and it lasted us about 10 years, so I assume they're made somewhere different, with lower quality control of late. Was that pi$$ed off with it all, I invested in a Miele. Not cheap, but bl00dy good quality machine!
Beko are Turkish but like most manufacturing its all done as cheaply as poss so quality suffers-even some of the top brands have sold out on quality
Happy wife, happy life 😀😀
Crap! We have chucked machines away when the handle has broken! Paul
Lol WM is the range and also stands for Washing Machine and 741 meand 7kg 1400rpm spin
How do you get it open if it snap off when it was closed?
Now there's a good question.
If anyone else is wondering, use a flat head screw driver and push it into the snapped part(towards yourself) to lever the switch the way the handle would, just came across this problem and found this method much easier than the string method or opening the top.
What happens if you drop metal plat ??
You'll need to get it out.
You dont need to take the DOOR SEAL off the back panel is hooked on so it wont fall off
Yes I know but it could drop off in the hands of someone who doesn't know. It was shown in the video though that it latches on.
Nice one I wonder how long your missis was waiting for it to be fixed LOL 😆😅😂
One day this time, Can't be without a washing machine.
Just think of all those pairs of Martins pants then have been washed in there haha shocking 🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣😁
I have no idea what a washing machine does but it lives in kitchen with the wife...
the glass from a washing machine door makes a awesome mixing bowl wen that washer come to the end of its life
Yes, that did cross my mind too lol
@@retrorestore we had one for years wen I way young. There quite hevy so don't slide to much wen needing bread
I had to replace the heater blower for a modern beko. Rubbish machine that was. Since bought a ew one.
