  • How to Replace Windows in Piper Arrow: After some debate, I decided to make installing new windows into the plane part of the Piper Arrow interior renovation project. So I bought and installed 6 new side windows. I opted for 3/16" thick to replace the original 1/16" ones. This will add to the soundproofing and I also opted for a very slight gray tint and some extra UV protection.

    Manufacturer was Great Lakes Aero:

VERY happy with the windows - great fit and very well packed for shipping.
    I actually ordered from Knots2U:

The windshield (which I did not replace), and the large side windows were the same price from either, however, I did later notice that the smaller side windows are actually cheaper by ordering direct from Great Lakes Aero.
Vampliers - these are a incredible tool. Extremely handy on a project like this because of so many often old stripped screws. Invaluable!

Thank you for the great videos. I have an Archer II. I bought my windows from LP Aero, the Pilot and Copilot are 1/4" with a vent window on both. the rest are 3/16th. I had to trim the window over the baggage door, because it's about a 1/2 shorter than the pilot side rear window. I used a Milwaukee 3" metal cutting wheel to trim the windows and to round out the corners. It works great on plexiglass. Thanks again.

Sounds great. I thought about getting the front passenger window with the vent. I think it’s a great option for your passengers. Thanks for watching!

Great video, I don't see the link for the black sealant you used on the exterior, I see that they have a clear option WELD-On #40 from Great Lakes Aero, can you please advise on which sealant you used and if the clear option is the same thing? I have the window and the foam tape but I need that last component

It was something my A&P recommended and had on hand. Its a 2 part mixture. I'll text him in the morning to get the name of it for you. I'm sure that what GLA is recommending would do the job, but I do like the way the black came out, kind of outlining the window. I should have an answer for you tomorrow.

You are apparently restoring your airplane. All o that work is really expensive and time consuming. As I said in another video, this must be a labor of love. Are you single? Some women really don't like their men to have other hobbies besides them.

I try keep a good balance between the plane, work and family.
