Barry Allen (Wally West is most my siblings tho), Dick Grayson, and John Stewart. Some of the first comics I read were Green Lantern mosaic and the flash so those are like my all time favorite characters.
I'm 48, so grew up with Tim Drake as Robin, Wally West as Flash and Kyle as GL. They will always hold my loyalty but Geoff Johns in the 2000s made Hal and Barry cool again. Grew to love Damian too. Thanks Scott
I started reading Flash during Mark Waid's "Return of Barry Allen" storyline, and it's still one of my favorite comic stories. So Wally is my flash. I also loved the Chuck Dixon Robin series and Nightwing series around that time, so Tim was my Robin but Dick as also super cool as Nightwing. Hal for GL.
Seeing a lot of the comments echoing my personal views as well, Robin - Tim Drake, GL would be Kyle or John (JLU was very formative for me but I did read a lot of comics with Kyle before then) and then Wally as Flash for similar reasons. I've never had a problem with any of the other incarnations of those characters either though, depends on the story, era, vibe, etc. I read DC stuff when it was current from around Identity Crisis to just after Final Crisis but while doing that went back and read lots of the classic stuff (and had read some of that in bits and pieces when I was much younger, from the library and stuff) so yeah, I was in it for the period where it felt like the creators were reverting a lot of those heroes back to their previous identities, sometimes gracefully, other times with all the subtlety of a hammer to the face. Combined with what Marvel did in 2010 or so with the "Heroic Age" thing and my only local comic shop closing down, kinda felt like a good jumping off point for trying to keep up with stuff month to month and just switching to "I'm going to read full story arcs when they're done and finished and have had a bit of time to have a wider opinion on the full context of the entire thing develop" way of enjoying comics. Good for the ol wallet as well of course. Enjoying the unboxings as always. Looks like a fun set, as always, I wish there were more villains though.
This set is looking better than the last two. Glad to see some creative and interesting dials in the common and uncommon slots (not including Animal Man, of course). My versions: Wally West Flash - he became the official Flash when I started reading DC comics - I have a long run of Waid's work from 1 into the 100's. The Justice League animated series cemented my love for the character. GL: While I collected the heck out of the Kyle Rayner comics, if I am looking to field one it is either John Stewart or Guy Gardner - and if I need one in the set, it is one-punch Guy. Robin, I liked Tim a lot but my son was 10 years old at the same time Damian Wayne came onto the scene and Peter Tomasi's writing of the father/son relationship and the fear and hope Bruce had for Damian (and the death stuff) really hit me. I am so stoked for that Damian, he will always be the Robin I use with Batman.
I returned to comics full time in 1988. My Flash was Wally West. My Green Lantern was Guy Gardner. And there was no Robin, so I adopted Tim Drake later on. But my Superman was the Christopher Reeve type in the comics, my Batman was more detective and people friendly but not quite Adam West, and Wonder Woman was very much like season 2 Lynda Carter.
So remember alot of us grew up watching the animated series from Kids WB and Cartoon networks Teen Titans. My Robin is Dick Grayon, I have two green lanturns Jon Stewart and Kyle, and my flash was Barry and Wally lol
Yes A beast boy at 60 points that you can switch for any other beast boy at 60 points. It is the same as his morphing or change ability. That is just amazing that we can get an interchangeable beast boy.
So as a kid I wasn’t really into comics like I am now. My introduction to DC was the tv shows. So my Robin was Dick. GL was Hal and Flash was Barry. This was from the old 70’s 80’s super friends cartoon. And from the 90’s Batman
