Wow is all I can say. Everytime I listen Fr..Rohr I feel closer to God. Awesome question to bring out more insightful conversation. The Holy Spirit was working through both of you God Blesd
He introduced and somehow goes in depth into the Holy Trinity so aptly but not many would attempt it!!!! At some point Catholic Traditionalism came up and he (Richard Rohr) said that he (meaning himself) was as traditional as you can get. It sounded funny until he explained that what Catholics describe as "Traditional" today, is just the Pomp that the Church was practicing in the 1800s, but what he describes as the true tradition of the Church, is what was established originally by the Desert Fathers and Mothers of the Church 2,000 yrs ago.
Referring to God as Father and Son is how God reveals Himself. We don't have to go so far left that we cannot recognize this and tip toe around it. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. I am enjoying these RR talks on RUclips but let's keep it real 🙂
Funny how those who dismiss Rohr , never bother to give an example or link to scripture,. They just call him 'Heretic ', a liberal, ( even a 'hippy' ;)) et … But never bother to point out the exact reason why it is so..
None of this doctrine is historically accurate. In fact the Easterners fought brutally over Trinitarian dogmatics, anathematizing each other for centuries. What we call the Trinity is actually the final result of those theological battles once the dust cleared. That's not to say the Trinity is unbiblical or anti-scriptural as is often inferred. In fact, it is precisely because of the apostles' language that some triune deity had to be put forth. For example, John records Jesus saying, "I and the Father are one," while Paul (who is almost always careful to avoid calling Jesus "God" but instead "Lord") affirms that the Spirit is also "Lord." In any case, to all non-trinitarians, it should be remembered that the Son (Jesus) is worthy of worship as God, having every moral attribute of God, and salvation is vested solely in his name.

God speaks sign language and our lives are a prayer. I look on the little one , wagging finger, " Ok, You're asking for it!"
Great conversation! Richard's explanation of the Trinity is mind blowing.
