One of my all time favourite. His association with prime Bastareaud in Toulon was a thing of beauty. You couldn't have two more opposite centers and yet that's what made it so perfect.
He was so creative, so skillfull, so smart... We still need players like him to make rugby beautiful to watch.
😢And the sad news came. He's now finally....called it day. Your talent will not be forgotten. GOAT indeed.
nah this aint sad bro hes going to make an amazing coach.
Haha he's back playing for San Diego at 41 guy will retire at 45.
@@Taurion4467alongside nonu who's in his 40s. Got one of the best centre's and best 10/12 utility back
That 2007 Barbarians game against SA was some of the greatest rugby entertainment. You had the world champions against a XV comprised of some of the greatest to ever play: Nonu, Smith, Giteau, Robinson, Rokocoko, Collins.
Watching Jason Robinson dance through 4 players only to be followed by Nonu and Smith carving the Boks up was just amazing. And you had Habana at the top of his game.
Honestly that's a game that should be in the history books
He made rugby look easy. More importantly, he made rugby look fun. What a player. Thanks Andrew.
That final nail in the coffin against England in RWC 2015 will always be my favourite moment of him
💯
Run, dribbling, speed, try then kick and repeat. What player, mate.
so good!! Came to the States and won the MLR championship game with the Giltini's
How incredible was that Toulon side btw?
Excellent vid of the maestro
Giteau was defiantly an underrated fly-half. Unfortunately he flew a bit under the radar since he was born in the same era as Carter & Wilkinson, so he could never claim best 10 in the world, but he was certainly Australia's best 10 (probably ever) He had the spark of greatness that we've been lacking in our 10's for the last 7-8 years.
Larkham would have to be Australia's best 10 surely
@brendanryan8439 gitau for me he can play 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, and knows how to deliver a slick pass and runs great lines plus reasonable boot on him,
One of the greats! The old Giteau bounce pass!
Proof that sometimes a 10 playing 12 can work. Just not for England.
He's like Owen Farrel except creative and hard to read lmao
Giteau was best at 12 to me as he could run, make breaks, as well as kick and distribute. Perfect 2nd five eighth. He was also a great 9. Farrell can't run or break the gainline which is why it doesn't come so natural to him. He worked very well at 12 with Ford as the 2 played together in those positions for u20.
He played the game with a good deal of skill and some imagination. Will be sorely missed.
Poetry in moetion.
Great joy to watch
Still dont understand why he was left at home for the 2011 RWC, still wouldnt have made a difference though.
Scapegoat after defeat v Samoa
la classe
Was that a knock-on by Fiji number 13 at 1:27 or is that only if it hits the ground?
It's still a knock-on. If one of his teammates had picked it up, the ref would have called a scrum to Australia. But since Giteau picked it up, the ref just plays advantage.
@@reefrunnerart thanks!
Player yam madoda!!!
I would have liked to see fewer easy tries and more of the long passes and bold play choices that were the specialty of this fantastic player
Easy tries do not exist. That is called supporting play and reading of the game. Basically the difference between great footballers and average rugby players.
@@EllliotJackRussel1i know that there is no easy try but this is just 1% of his talent
As a South African, I hated him. As a rugby fan, I loved him.
Dudes still playing 😂 in USA
Would be keen to see a Blair Kinghorn or an updated Gary Ringrose vid like this 👍
