if you love this band spread the word, share their music!!! I've been listening to them since I was 10 and I'm 28 now, all the garbage you hear today and people are just finding out who these guys are!!! smh that's sad, one of my all time favorite little secrets, keep playing your incredible music guys, a staple in my life and I ty from the bottom of my heart!!
I did a gig last week replacing a guitarist and the drumer of the band as soon as I told I was a fan of Warren Hayes and Dereck Trucks he told about this band. Man thank you for sharing this band with me. now they are one of my favorites.
Y'all rock totally! I first heard you in Abilene, Texas about 10-12 years ago at Bob's which is long since gone.. I have every cd. You're my mantra as I have a lot of windshield time as I drive or fly all over the West for work. You just get better and better.
was fortunate that i got to meet them and get a couple of CDs signed when i saw them at the doheny blues festival back in 2005, when it was still all four original members. they jammed then and this jams, too. if you ever get the chance...they shred live
1st heard u on aboriginal awards..u've got a beautiful voice n enjoy ur music..doya come over 2 Canada 2 do sum concerts..preferably Sask..recently moved from Alta..n where can l buy ur music....ur da man ..lol
AMAZING! Keep it coming please! Damn Mato has become good at singing! Anyone noticed how insane he's become since, lets say Things We Do, or Indigenous?
YES WE LOVE MATO/INDIGENOUS! They do a mean Hey Joe. I almost passed out when I heard it at a concert at the State Theater in Va. MORE VIDEO'S, MORE VIDEO'S....
To be honest, if I hadn't been working in a distribution center for a local music chain some 10 years ago, and happened to pick up one of their CD's out of a box of promos, I'd have never heard of them myself. As far as him being the draw, yeah. The other members of the original band talked about that on a video I have on them. Don't know if it's still available, simply called Indigenous Live.
Yes, he is growing up. . gotta say, he's still got the fire! Much more comfortable onstage. I miss the family, but glad he's still rockin' out, no matter what! Would love to see Mato Nanji and Henry Garza onstage together!
TY!!!!!!!! for posting. MATO is amazing. I'm in love lol. Actually I love his guitar playing =) This is the newest thing I've heard since their earlier cd's. I love this video. Thanks again for posting.
Saw these guys a couple of weeks ago. Brand new band than what is shown in this video. If you have a chance to check Mato out, don't miss it!. He blew my socks off!!
The chords for this song are B flat- Gminor- Dsharp- Bflat for the verses, F- Gminor- Dsharp- Bflat for the chorus and F- Gminor-F- Gminor-DSharp for the bridge. Goes verse -chorus- verse- chorus- bridge - SOLO- then chorus again. Hope that helps! Good luck!
I know what you're talkin bout Mr.Notatuba.Jazzfest @ Place des Arts patio outdoors or Jazzfest @ Mt.Tremblant under the stars.Super Smoothie Nights. Fireworks, racing cars and Crescent St.
Not kidding... check out the liner notes from their last CD, "Chasing The Sun." That was back in 2006, so, who knows, by now they could have regrouped. Also, look at this video. The original drummer Mato's was sister, Pte. That certainly isn't her behind those drums.
Hmm, there is nothing about this on the Indigenous website. Such a shame! I've advised my music students to attend their upcoming performance in Cleveland but didn't know half the band is no longer in the band.
Mato Is obviously awesome... but I love this drummer! Stays in the pocket and chimes in where there's room. Great feel and timing in the rhythm section here....
i wish i could help you, but i only heard it live at that one concert. mato does such a crazy version of that song, i don't know why he doesn't play it more often. if i find it i will let you know, and please do the same for me if you locate it.
You google "Indigenous" or even search You-Tube for these guys and you get some bullshit documentary... lol, these guys are AMAZING... love their bluesier music
Seems to me there's been some changes in this band since I first saw them at the n'Sect Club in Hampton back in the early 90's. I have a ticket stub around here somewhere...Saw them again last night at The jewish Mother in Va Beach and posted a bit of it. was a good show I was impressed, very tight sounded good. the psychedelic stuff was a gas but I'd like to see them do some quirkier material. Nice shoot btw would be interested in knowing what you shot it with.
Mato is the only "old" Indigenous left in the band. He still plays with some incredibly talented people though. It's just not very Indigenous anymore. He has become a much better singer now though!

One of the prettiest most soulful songs he does.
Also. Why this man is not more famous than what he is currently is beyond me.
Y'all are my new favorite blues band,I've been playing blues guitar for 40+- years now,I can't believe I've just now heard of y'all, sorry.
I did a gig last week replacing a guitarist and the drumer of the band as soon as I told I was a fan of Warren Hayes and Dereck Trucks he told about this band. Man thank you for sharing this band with me. now they are one of my favorites.
Great song. This is the best version of this song I've heard so far.

Man, what a great voice. Inspirational, no doubt.
YES WE LOVE MATO/INDIGENOUS! They do a mean Hey Joe. I almost passed out when I heard it at a concert at the State Theater in Va. MORE VIDEO'S, MORE VIDEO'S....
Someone needs to record those shows if it isn't too late already! I WANT to see my two favorite players together!
To be honest, if I hadn't been working in a distribution center for a local music chain some 10 years ago, and happened to pick up one of their CD's out of a box of promos, I'd have never heard of them myself.

Great Vid. Love Mato's voice.

Oh, man...I'm gonna go see them tonight at the Ryman. They're supposed to be opening for Jonny Lang. I can tell this is going to be a good night!
freakin awesome song
The chords for this song are B flat- Gminor- Dsharp- Bflat for the verses,
F- Gminor- Dsharp- Bflat for the chorus and F- Gminor-F- Gminor-DSharp for the bridge.
Goes verse -chorus- verse- chorus- bridge - SOLO- then chorus again.

i know this by heart
Mato Is obviously awesome... but I love this drummer! Stays in the pocket and chimes in where there's room. Great feel and timing in the rhythm section here....
Nothing like a good three piece! Rockin
My thoughts exactly.
Whoa, I felt that...all the way across the Pacific Ocean-MEAN
Don't forget! New Album drops tomorrow!!!
i wish i could help you, but i only heard it live at that one concert. mato does such a crazy version of that song, i don't know why he doesn't play it more often.
if i find it i will let you know, and please do the same for me if you locate it.
totally awesome is the only word for them
Wow! They broke up? I've seen them a half-dozen times, from the very first tour on... I wonder why? I wonder why?
Pte is gone, Wanbdi is gone and Horse left far earlier as far as I recall.
Pte is in some other band now, and I think Wanbdi has a song up on myspace.
Mato is the Man!!
good lord, that man has a voice.
Amazing! Even live! MATO rocks!
six people need to go on home
love it, rock on my american brothers!
You google "Indigenous" or even search You-Tube for these guys and you get some bullshit documentary... lol, these guys are AMAZING... love their bluesier music
1998 i was ridin the train to mexico i heard asong an said. dam
as good as it gets
Pte is on the Indigenous band but Horse is gone as is the drummer.
sons of anarchy brought me here, cool sounds.
Seems to me there's been some changes in this band since I first saw them at the n'Sect Club in Hampton back in the early 90's. I have a ticket stub around here somewhere...Saw them again last night at The jewish Mother in Va Beach and posted a bit of it. was a good show I was impressed, very tight sounded good. the psychedelic stuff was a gas but I'd like to see them do some quirkier material. i dig it
@blisterbeetle85 ....he is already in my mind.
oh NO! I meant to give this comment thumbs UP UP UP, not down - darn...
wow!
yup id never let go
..
Make the sister's name Wanbdi. Pte was his brother, and the bands' original bassist.
@jtomasik His voice is incredible.
it's tuned half a step down and played in B flat.
Yes, it's only Mato left now.
Indigenous is like heroin, I am hopelessly addicted and want more more more
He usually only tunes it ½ step down.
@blisterbeetle85 i know right i love him
This is really great, but why isn't Wanbdi on drums?
I know what u mean!!!!!! :)
Mato nanji "rules"
Agreed-guitar playing not bad either
Especially at 15 ft away
Pte is not touring. Saw them last month.
When You come to Hungary!?
Do you have any more videos of this concert? I heard someone yelling C'mon Suzie at the end of the song - Man I'd like to see that one!
Exactly, add to that shame that the original band has been dumped. Mato Nanji is the only member left, from what was a band made up of family members.
"going to be"? he already is!
Izzat the Bastard Fairies mutton chopped guitarist on drums?
Mato is the only "old" Indigenous left in the band. He still plays with some incredibly talented people though. It's just not very Indigenous anymore.
He has become a much better singer now though!
Maribel
anyone know the chords of that music?!??! or tabs or some video cover?!?!?! tks
See my reply above
is he tuning a harp
Tuning down 1/2 step
Do you really have them? Because I will take all the indigenous song chords you can provide
Status is this....Stays in the pocket? Who even talks like that? Slave days are over!
How bout Hendrix? His guitar was always out of tune... When you play like this you don't need no Peterson whatsoever.
