Great reaction boys! A little early in your Tool journey to tackle that beast of a song, but you made it through alive, so it's all good 😂. If you guys ever listen to that entire album the song is on while on psychedelics, it will fvcking change you 😂. Way too early for that tho boys, not sure sure you'd survive it 😂, so take your time, you're still just Tool pups. See ya on the next one. Cheers!

If that was one of your first tool songs. Bravo on not only making it through it in one piece but actually semi understanding what the hell was going on. Prying open your third eye can be a very painful experience and the music sonically takes you on that Journey ...it is from the peaceful parts to the violent parts of prying open your third eye. And becoming one with your inner consciousness of who you are as a person, the good and bad and how you connect to the rest of the universe.

You’re doing it right. You’re far away from being able to handle the Grudge or Rosetta Stoned but get those on your radar.

Plus they need to do the two songs that lead into it; Lipan Conjuring and Lost Keys, THEN Rosetta Stoned. All three in one reaction video, in that order... but only when the time is right. It's a little too soon right now.

Ok so what i think the meaning of the chorus is is that it symbolises the hemisync and the rebirth of the right hemisphere, at the chorus the left hemisphere is talking witht he right hemisphere, the opening line of the chorus goes like this; "so good to see you i missed you so much so glad its over i missed you so much" the right hemisphere was dominant when you were a child so that implies why he says i missed you so much, people miss how they were, also the next line is saying; came out to watch you play why are you running away" it symbolises the right hemisphere being playful and by running away, i think the character of this song was on a trip and his meeting with the right hemisphere happened there, and the drugs effects started fading out and to him its like the right hemisphere is running away, but it can also symbolise his young ages when he became a teen the righ hemisphere basically ran away, and then later the right hemisphere is talking and saying how it thinked the left hemisphere ran away chasing the trails of reason or something like that i dont know the lyrics fully but it goes something like that, but yeah i just probably made yall even more confused with all that mumbo jumbo shit i just said, but to understand the chorus you need to understand alot of philosophy and a bit of neuroscinece, but i dont know if thats the definitive answer, the song probably haves more meanings and should be interpeted in many different ways...

"Prying open my third eye" is talking about using drugs to "force" open your third eye, as opposed to meditation and whatnot. The song begins by talking about how the singer has drifted away from his intuitive and spiritual connections within himself, expressed as losing contact with his third eye. And how he has used drugs to bring him back to it. That's the whole bit that sounds like he's having a conversation with his third eye, where they talk about having lost track of each other. This theme of inner journey/spiritual awakening is carried on in what many Tool fans consider their greatest song: Lateralus. As I write this comment, you just reacted to Rosetta Stoned. Third Eye and Rosetta Stoned taken together express the flip sides of drugs. "Third Eye" is about the spiritual awakening and transcendent experiences drugs can give you. "Rosetta Stoned" is about a bad trip where you're just flippin' out and losing control of basic bodily functions. Rosetta Stoned, by the way, is about a real drug trip that a friend of theirs described to them. At some point, you'll tackle Lateralus. That song is way more intricate than you would suspect without knowing about it's composition, so if you don't mind I'll give you some insight into the song Lateralus for the rest of this comment. The opening riff of the song has the time signatures of 9/8 - 8/8 - 7/8. What that means isn't important except that from it you can see the number 987. 987 is a number in what's known as the Fibonacci Sequence. You can look it up if you want, but basically it's a mathematical series of numbers. These numbers are often graphed out as a spiral. Within the song, at certain points, each line of the lyrics has the same number of syllables as a number in the Fibonacci sequence. The lyrics' syllables count up the sequence, then back down... then back up, then back down. On a graph, that would be spiraling out, then spiraling back in, then out, etc. Another more poetic way of expressing it is "swinging on the spiral", which along with "spiraling out" are exactly the lyrics used to express the idea of expanding your consciousness to push into new ideas and experiences that you hadn't ever encountered before. The composition of the song is complex in other ways as well, but that gives the core idea without exposing too much of the song itself in advance.

This song to me is essentially a forceful spiritual awakening induced by psychedelics. Notice how he says he's prying open his third eye. Prying usually implies the use of force, and that force is the intense psychedelic experience the protagonist had/is having. My personal experience, psychedelics definitely can have that effect on you. I used to be a hardcore atheist until I took psychedelics. Psychedelics made me realize their reality is way too f****** complicated for any human to try to reduce down to a sentence a paragraph or even a book.

I don’t know if it’s been said yet, but it sounds like the song is really about DMT and the type of trip you take and everyone always reporting that at some point they’ve had a trip where they approach this being who appears to be some type of creator of things, but not like in the sense of “God”, this is a faceless and nameless being that they can’t understand but are never able to actually find out who it is. And with the album art being inspired by DMT art, it’s a natural thought progression.
