Tina created one of the easiest yet greatest bass riffs, and still, learning the full song requires tons of practice.
I think in Once in a Lifetime she litterally plays 2 notes and a slide the entire song. That's some crazy minimalism.
What makes this great is how simple yet memorable & unique it is. Tina is indeed one of the greatest bassists of all time.
Wow that Hofner Bridge pickup growl... So distinct! It sounds fat in the mix but very nasal in solo... Fascinating!
edit: She probably recorded this on the Mustang or P bass actually... but still the sound is very small and the lows in the mix come from the drums which is cool... and there is Bass bleed in the drum channels which adds some ooomph... nice
Qu'est-ce que c'est!
Some of the best bass lines don’t require a lot of notes, this is a fantastic example where less is more.
This is what a good bass player does. They don't just play the bass notes to the chord; they play bass RIFFS within the chord!
Great bassline, easy for a pizza maker like myself.
Beautiful!
Thank you this is helpful for learning

Hi. Is Tina using Flatwounds? Thanks
Either flats or tapes I reckon
Sounds like flats to me. I can get a similar tone with d'adarrio chrome flats on a fender american pro ii p-bass.
