I've loved the Metal Slug series ever since I played MS3, and I always thought: "What if Metal Slug was released on a variation of the Neo Geo that allowed up to four players?"
I love MS too you know, the first game that i played in the series was MS advance before other MS games, also 4 players is epic if NEO GEO accepted that in the future.

When they realize they got negative reactions from the fans, they brought Eri and Tarma back. Besides MS4 just had a lot of rehash backgrounds from the previous games and the metal system they used was sort of pointless hence why it was eschewed from MS5.

In one of my videos I played Metal Slug 4 in Split Mode with Xbox360 Wireless Joypad & Xbox360 Guitar Hero 3 Wireless Guitar Controller. No cheats, no autofire or save states were used. By the way, yout channel is great man!

Yeah... Metal Slug 6 was pretty cool but I wish it had more time to cook in the oven because it felt very half assed despite having a fantastic premise and cool enemy designs.

@GoosyGooseMX Difiero un poco. El 1, 2 y 3 no se parecen nada entre ellos. Cada uno tiene su propio estilo y la evolución de las mecánicas y los gráficos se sentía. En MS4 si te das cuenta prácticamente no tiene nada de original o casi nada. Absolutamente todo era reciclado de los tres juegos originales. Estoy consciente que eso era comprensible porque SNK en ese momento había quebrado y puedo suponer que ya no tenían la misma capacidad de desarrollo que antes.

taylond grant It's a method of censoring the massive amount of carnage and gore and it's a bit ridiculous but I kinda like it, sorta like the series own style of making the game look awesome.
Metal Slug fans give this game a lot of shit, and I honestly think it's undeserved. Listening to them you'd think the game was reused levels with reused enemies and reused bosses, when really it's it's own game with its own levels with just a few reused assets per level. Like at 22:10 when they reused the sinking enemy boat, they draw new sprites for the new pirate soldiers specifically for that reused boat's unique water pump animation. The mission 3 boss looks like total ass, I agree, but the mission 4 boss is almost an entirely new boss and it looks great, like a true Metal Slug setpiece. And the mission 2 boss plays like ass, but we've never fought a Saturn V rocket in Metal Slug before, that's a cool concept for a setpiece
I feel it's just more than "a few" and especially bad when this series is so well revered for it's presentation, but this time around it generally looks like a slop job with little to show for itself. People definitely bash it too hard, but it also failed to leave a lasting impression (even if metal slug 3 was an impossible standard to meet going forward)
This game has cool concepts, like motorcycle/truck chase, control enemy tanks, rope section, ship mission is realy good and verry good music. Underrated game
