IMHO, this was one of THE best movie figures. The transformation sequence was brilliantly complex, especially the way the windshield was engineered to transform into his chest. Nowadays they're just too basic for my taste.
I picked this up from Walmart when they moved it to the clearance isle for about $22 or so but when I got it to the register to pay for it something magical happened. I brought it over to the home and garden section to check out as per usual in the closest Walmart, they had four registers open with 20 people per line. The worker tried to ring it up but it gave problems, at one point I thought it rang up for full price but the guy said don't worry. I checked the receipt and it wasn't on it. Free
@Baltmatrix, if you looked at the instructions, you'd see that the "battle mode" isn't fully transformed and those "heel pieces" at around 6:00, are actually guns for the battle mode. There's also a portion of the legs that isn't transformed correctly, if you look on TFW2005, there should be posts in his feedback thread that show you how to transform the legs properly.
You can peg the shield on the arm. Peg on of the MechTech ports onto the holes in the forearms. You can make a rust cannon with it. Peg on of the MechTech pegs at the top of the shield to one of the ports next to the siren, then you plug the lower peg into the forearm. Rust cannon.
That gap in the legs is supposed to be filled in with those tiny panels on the leg panels. The pegs on the smaller panels peg into where the wheel once was.
I got this guy because he looked all big and impressive in robot mode in the box. One of the shoulder clips broke pretty quickly because they are small and flimsy. I got the Voyager toy instead and while it has a less interesting transformation it's less frustrating, less fragile, stands up better, and stays in one piece with fewer issues.
You missed a few features of this toy, my friend. The "useless grey bits" you encounter while forming the feet during transformation, are small cannons that are to be deployed in weaponized vehicle mode, and under the cab, there's another cannon too, that can also be deplyed. That cannon is on the voyager version as well
The leader class figure I had a problem with was Hunt for the Decepticons Optimus Prime. The problem was the snap-out hooks that would always snap out during transformation, otherwise he was great to transform. And Baltmatrix, as you found the sound effect gimmick annoying, you should have removed the batteries.
you want something cool you can do with him? HA Backfire has a gun mode that plugs into his shoulder like a cannon and THAT can also help with the balance
A solid review as always Spada. Though I will disagree with you overall, you did touch on key points particularly the back heaviness and the sensitivity of the shoulders in robot mode. The one bad thing I think you failed to comment on was the way the feet don't actually go anywhere in vehicle mode they just smoosh together. As well, I have had no trouble with the sword coming apart. Also I have my figure standing right now without too much tweaking to his posture so it is possible
He "doesn't stay together" because you mistransform him. Also, I wouldn't call him a "shell former" seeing as how you form his legs out the panels as well as his chest. Great figure.
There is also a panel in the legs that you forgot to open up though I don't know if it is just for looks or will help with stability. On the front bumper is also a small firehouse that can flip out.
The instructions for dotm are confussing coz they are blacked out versions of the toy with the part your ment to be transforming in red and its not easy to see what to do
Great review m8. I hear a lot of people say that this fig is easier to transform than ROTF Prime, but i have to disagree. ROTF Prime everything goes into place nice and secure, on Sentinel you need to waste 10 mins massaging every vehicle panel into place. Still i do think it's a good figure, but standing him is tricky. It's sad the hose arm is rubber at the tip or you'd be able to use that as support.
I personally think he is an awesome figure. I just did a bit of fiddling with the heels so that it's pointed downward and clicks and also got the batteries out, and it's great. Your right he is really top heavy, but overall, I think he is a great representation of the character
Hm... I myself find no problems getting him pack into vehicle mode. It's fun, complicated and pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I don't follow the directions, but find my own way to transform figures after watching a number of video reviews.
The things in his feet are supossed to unfold for vehicle attack mode. I do like it a lot, it´s not like I want it to play with, I just want him to stand in the back of my shelve and look cool.
one of the best Transformers they ever made. he just has a solid feel to him, he stands fine for me, i dont think your transforming the panels in the back correctly. I do models as well and he has the detail of a gundam and the heft of a solid action figure. not knocking you but i disagree
He didn't transform it correctly but lots of people complained about panels not fitting together right. And the shoulder clips on mine broke pretty quickly because they are TINY. I sold it to a guy who just glued it together in robot mode and left in that way.
1st you can put the shield on his arm. 2nd screw the voyager class with his gun and no sword. 3rd he is an awesome fig imo. and easy for me to transform into both modes. 4th i plan on getting most of the cyberverse figs so most likely i will pick him up sometime.
I have a Leader Class Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime, which I bought about a year ago or two... After seeing this video, I'm kinda glad that I bought ROTF Optimus instead of Sentinel...
I wish he had his gun. But I'm looking forward to the sub-line (Cause lets face it, there will be one, 99% chance). Hopefully we'll se 2 decepticon leaders. Megatron and Shockwave. But, that's me being optimistic.
I have the cyberverse version, the leader class version is in toys r us where I live, I'm hoping to get him one day, but the voyager figure is not in the toys r s where I live.

shell former?..sorry man, but the voyager class is the real shell former, this guy parts are all over him hided, and the voyager just put all the panels behid as a real shell...ok, its youre taste, its ok and i respec it, but...i think this guy is fun, a litle bit of a chalenge if u want, but fun and full of detail. Even so i understand why ure so frustrated jaja, but in time it becomes easyer and absouly all panels close ver well. Of course, thsts just me :)
This guy has quickly become a self warmer. Everywhere I go he is all I see on selves next to bumblebee. I wont buy this leader class I did by the voyger SP and very happy with it.. I think hasbro had a chance to make a great leader SP but they didnt they put it in Ironhide which is great. Maybe Takara will make a better one.

I hope we get a Studio Series Sentinel Prime. Always liked the robot design and fire truck mode, but the DotM toys never really nailed it for me.

That section on the foot is for vehicle mode, it's a missile. I have to get him and the voyager so then leader can have all of his weapons.

I’ve had this figure since about 2011 and I’ve never had a standing problem, still hard af to transform no doubt 😂

thats one thing Leader class Bee has going for himself. All his electronics are separate from the main toy. Its all in his accessory of a jet pack.

if u push the shield button while its connected in vehicle mode, it does make a laser cannon sound. And in robot mode he has additional lines.

Zoltán Perei Movie series Leader Class toys in general are aimed at older collectors. This was not a toy for 9 year olds.

Removing the batteries may help the back-heavyness.
