    Just wondering if you would be selling just rack without the basket? I like the look of just the rack on the car.

      Thanks for your question.
      The rack is available as a stand alone item but it may be more useful with an extra cross bar and possibly some other mods so let's talk about a slghtly custom approach. Please contact me through my website or fb page. Www.balmerfab.com

    As someone who never welder before but wants a machine powerful enough (amps?) to handle this level fabrication, what type of arc welder do you recommend?

    • @BalmersWorkshop
      @BalmersWorkshop  2 года назад +1

      I would go with a welder that's approximately 180 amps. This will allow you to make single pass welds on 3/16" material which will be as thick as you're likely to work with commonly. If you need to weld thicker material, you can do multiple passes. I'd recommend a Lincoln welder - the 180HD is a good choice. Other brads are worth looking at too - check reviews in this regard. Make sure you go with a MIG welder rather than a gassless wire feed! All the best!

      I'll be offering them for the 4-doors sooner or later as I've finally picked up my own 4-door to base the design on! Stay tuned to the website if you're interested in a rack/basket or stay tuned to the channel for more fabrication tips n' tricks :)

    Where did you get that fuel can carrier and what hardware did you use to mount it?

    • @BalmersWorkshop

      ...I'm a bit late with my response to say the least, thanks for watching! It's just a Princess Auto/Harbor Freight type thing. Stock hardware from the tire carrier I believe.

    Howdy‼️👋🤠 from Texas.
    Good video! I was wondering where you got the plastic replacement for that Gen1 Sidekick? & Do you know if they make a replacement top for a Gen2 2000 Chevy Tracker?

    How are you removing the rack for powder coating after it has been riveted to the vehicle?

    • @BalmersWorkshop
      @BalmersWorkshop  3 года назад +1

      The rivets can be drilled out using a 3/16" drill bit. There is a slight chance of opening the holes up if not being careful so it's important to be accurate with the drilling. New rivets are used in the same holes for the final installation. If a person accidentally enlarges one or more of the holes during removal then larger diameter rivets could be used or Riv-Nut style fasteners could be used instead.

      @@BalmersWorkshop that makes sense. A little extra work, but worth the trouble for a great paint job.
