    Live Nassau Coliseum '76 was issued in a deluxe edition of Station To Station, which is where the 2010 mix comes from as well, with the exact same track list and labels.

    I have every album downloaded, but there's something very impersonal about it. I've recently started buying the CD's. I say "It's for the car" but it's more about actually owning something. I thought about starting an LP collection, but never got around to it.

    I just received my own copy this past Monday. Loving the live material as well as my two faves, 'Diamond Dogs' and 'Young Americans'. Out of all my boxed sets, this has to be the most colorful, glossiest packaging I've ever seen--just beautiful! Looking forward to more of your reviews! :)

    Hi, New Yorker and Bowie fan, here. The coliseum where the Station To Station concert was held is pronounced NAS-saw. It's on Long Island, a suburban region of two counties just east of the New York City borough of Queens.
    There are soundboard recordings for most concerts Bowie did (supposedly there are tons of them in his archives that he'd collected), and this concert album was originally a bootleg made from the soundboard of that show, just cleaned up a bit. I had a copy of the boot myself at uni that someone taped off vinyl for me. The official releases don't have the 13-minute version of _Panic In Detroit_ with Dennis Davis' extended drum solo, which served both as a chance for Davis to shine and as a short break for David and the rest of the band.
    I was alive when this tour happened, but only 6 years old and living in a different state, so I feel your pain. Saw him around that time on a US TV music show called Soul Train, though! Couldn't miss him. He was one of the few white performers ever featured on the program, which was basically a TOTP for then-current soul and R&B hits. _Fame_ and _Golden Years_ were on the US soul charts as well as rock charts in '75/'76.
    /thus endeth the lessons
    Which one did you end up listening to first? :D

    New subscriber here. I picked this up yesterday and it is genuinely superb. Not many are a fan of it but I actually really like the David Live album.

      Thanks for the sub, David live is great, I wasn't sure but now I'm convinced. The Nassau live album is absolutely stunning though.

      He's one of the only artists who's LIVE albums are just as good as his studio albums. I love his 71' Aylesbury gig, not that it was a released LIVE album or anything but its pretty great, he was a funny guy.

      The new 3 disc version of David Live is absolutely superb, have a copy of the RCA black label from 1983 but the new version blows it out the water.

    I'm watching this video for the second or third time, and I'd like to let you know that I always appreciate your Bowie videos. Your love and sincere passion for David Bowie shows in your videos and I recognize my own passion for him in you. This comment is meant to thank you for your beautiful videos that are a tribute to David. In a few weeks, the third box will released, which I'm really look forward to. I hope you will enjoy it just as much as the first two box sets. Take care :-))

      Jos Housen thank you so much for your kind words. Indeed I am very excited for the new box and I shall make a video just as soon as I can. I'm not sure I could watch my own videos 2 or 3 times, let alone expect anyone else to! Thank you again

    My favourite Bowie album, David live, im guessing the diamond dog tour, would have been great if they had released a double live from the philly dogs tour that followed, the second david live set is the full concert, played in the order it was performed in,

    Great set. Can't wait to get my hands on one. Hey do you know, or anyone else out there, if there is a schedule for future releases? I mean are they going up through the 80s, 90s, etc with sets?

    • @vinyljunkie7788
      @vinyljunkie7788  7 лет назад +2

      mrhoffame I imagine so. The next box would be the Berlin years box then early 80's etc. The next box (if it is Berlin) is the one that REALLY excited me

    • @mrhoffame
      @mrhoffame 7 лет назад +1

      Vinyl Junkie That would be great! Even though I favor the early years of Bowie like Ziggy, for some reason I am so excited about the thought of the 80s years potentially coming out.

      @fenixman2 7 лет назад +3

      Yeah I'm also REALLY excited for the next box, I really hope they include Scary Monsters in it, making it 1977-1980, But then again maybe they'd like to keep it for a 1980-1987 one or something, which honestly would be a shame since I'm not buying an expensive box set that is half filled with shit records.

      I echo this, up to (and including) Let's dance I'm all in. I can give it a break then until earthling onwards.

    it's looks great. i feels odd being in a situation of rebuying a few old cds on vinyl to feel the art and tangibility (lol) but for me i need more rarities or discovering rather than forking out too much for because the quality of packaging is great. although i'm only a big bowie fan rather than a massive one.

    I'm sort of amazed you don't know the difference between the two versions of "live?" personally love the latter version since it's in the correct order and i feel a far better mix and balance.
    Personally what is more annoying to me with these bowie boxes is that they don't have all the rarities that are available on other comps and were officially released.
    I love Bowie, but i think they could have done a far better job with the rarities.
    Somewhere on you tube their is a kind knowledgeable gentleman whom breaks down all the missing and official rare tracks that did not get on the five years boxset, and some are far more interesting then just shortened album versions that aren't different just shortened.
    Something that annoys me over all is bands putting out these boxsets but not really giving the fans the whole of whats out there. Why? simply, because if going to put out this stuff really go for it, two other examples, the Buffalo Springfield box, what about the stuff on the first boxset and the longer bluebird? also, the Beatles white anniversary, were the hell is the single from this period remixed? And, R.E.M. how about a cd or two if needed of B-Sides?
    I love these bands but when their are obvious omissions, why? just seems sloppy or as read in an interview with Levon Helm before he passed, why won't Robbie release all of the last waltz? because he'll beed some money later.
    sorry, i love music, but i sort of wish more bands would do the Beatles "Past Masters" idea, and put together collections of singles that are truly different and b-sides.
    then again no one says have to buy this stuff, well thanks for showing off the boxset, looks nice.

    Mr. VJ, you use the "D" word a little too much in a disconnected way. How about, since David's passing. No offence meant at all I promise. I hope The Gouster is bringing you huge amounts of joy. X

      Vinyl Junkie I'm sorry I'm having terrible problems with people constantly using the word dead. I've been a BowieBoy since the early 70s, my first LP was Aladdin Sane and this year has been too much to cope with. I loved your video on Who Can I Be Now? It makes me so happy watching people discover new albums or songs by Our Dear Friend. Going to see Lazarus in a few weeks, I hope you get to enjoy that too. Again, sorry for being so defensive... I'm just struggling. From one BowieBoy to another, keep up the good work. Let's keep this shining.
