Of you're going to clip off feathers, I'd hold the chicken on their back on your lap so you can see where their wing actually is
Thank you SO much for sharing this information! I am new to raising chickens and this was incredibly helpful!
Also, Mr. Ruefer reminds me so much of my late father that I lost 5 years ago. Their way of being seems so similar (and their build is identical) that I almost cry every time I see him here.
Please keep up the excellent work. It’s more valuable than I can tell you!
Thank you for sharing this with us. I am sure your father was a very good man and sorry for your loss. Mr. Rueffer is one of the kindest people I have ever known. We appreciate your kind words, they really encourage us to continue.
I just started following this family 😊 Their way of life and thinking and living is so peaceful and beautiful it makes me wanna cry. I want this so bad for my children. I am improving my credit and saving my money so I can buy a home for my family and get cows and chickens and grow my own fruits and vegetables. I started baking homemade bread, learned how to start a starter for my Sourdough breads and I also made butter out of whipping cream. I saved the buttermilk to start my starter for my bread. I'm teaching my children and I want them to have all of this knowledge so my grandchildren can have a beautiful life. It's not easy work, but in the end it's so rewarding 😊
Thank you. this is super helpful.
very good video thank you!
That Rocky just loved perching up top, didn't she!
We have an little Ancona that flies the coop every day. IF I can catch her...
I've clipped wings before, but never the whole wing. I'm going to try this with little Miss Ancona.
Pretty little Orpington!
Thank you. Hope the severe weather misses you this weekend.
Yes, so funny the hen looks down into the house from the tank house. She watches us! The little gold chicken is my Chicken Little. She is on our channel trailer as a chick in our garden screened house. We did escape any bad weather, only a drizzle on Saturday morning. Thank you for watching and have a blessed week!
If you keep chickens then you will need to know how to keep them from flying out of their pen. There are many dangers on the other side and keeping them in their pen is so important! Please ask Mr. Rueffer any questions you might have, he has been raising chickens his whole life.
Netting over the pen instead will stop flying predators and cats getting in
Don't really agree with that
Kinder to put roofing/netting over their pen
I didn’t realize you could clip so high up on there wing I just clip down the middle of the big feathers, I can’t keep my bantams in the run lol they fly so high 😂😩 hopefully this works
Hello Ruthie, thank you for watching. Notice how Mr. Rueffer has his thumb feeling as he goes. Yes, bantams get be hard to keep in. Good luck!
