TheHRJR Yes. I love how he interpretated the words differently. Taylor album is more free and independent and happy while his is hurtful and bittersweet. It really shows that no matter what the lyrics are they always have different meanings to different people.
So, effectively what you are saying is that Ryan Adams now OWNS these songs.....i know what you are saying..credited on the song are Taylor and Imogen Heap. Folk should be worried...an opinion...Ryan Adams could OWN any song he chose to sing. Betting he'd OWN this one in a heartbeat..mellow but play it and tell me i'm wrong...listen to the words in it... STRONG by JASMINE LAMPORT.
@@minxymoo2325 I have that malleability written in, but what you’re groping for is ‘male’ or ‘female’ and as Swift shaking her arse does preclude for meaning
After hearing Ryan's versions of these songs, it has had the surprising effect of making me appreciate Taylor Swift's versions more than I think I ever would have.
i can´t put words together when it comes to actually say something to describe this amazing use of my time, literally i´m shocked, because i thought only tay can sing her songs and make you feel exactly what she felt, but ryan OMG... congrats THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME
I am obsessed w this whole album..Ryan Adams makes this even more of a masterpiece..My favorites are this song, All u had to do was stay; Wish u would; this love ; bad blood and welcome to NY..literally can relate to all the emotions..love..happiness and heartbreak..love this so much
Kelly Bond I know Right. I think the greatest part is seeing how differently he interpretated the album. To him it's sad and bittersweet where Taylor's is more independent and free and happy.
The drought was the very worst When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst It was months and months of back-and-forth You're still all over me like a wine-stained shirt I can't wear anymore Hung my head as I lost the war And the sky turned black like a perfect storm [Chorus:] The rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe And by morning, gone was any trace of you Think that I am finally clean There was nothing left to do When the butterflies turned to dust, they covered my whole room So I punched a hole in the roof Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you The water filled my lungs, and I screamed so loud But nobody heard a thing [Chorus:] And the rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe That morning, gone was any trace of you Think that I am finally clean Ten months sober, I must admit Just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it Ten months older, I won't give in Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it [Chorus:] The rain came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe By morning, gone was any trace of you I think that I am finally clean It came pouring down When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe By morning, gone was any trace of you Gone was any trace of you Gone was any trace, gone was any trace Gone was any trace, gone was any trace Gone was any trace, gone was any trace
I have been a fan of Ryan Adams since his early "Whiskeytown" Days. The only thing that would have made RA's masterpiece upgrading of Taylor Swift's 1989 would to bring in Whiskeytown"s Caitlin Cary on a song or two. Watching Adams on some of his home videos of making the LP in his home studio with his two ears I can see why he didn't want to muddy up the process. I find it Ironic the Ryan has the blessing of Taylor and now some of her fans are "Coming Over to the Other Side" of the POP world into non-mainstream music.
the magnitude of musical envelopment requires a tremendous amount of collating(working at it) and ryan adams does that to an extent that is hard to ignore when the product is constantly producing original(innovative) and 'good' music that requires listeners to notice the improvement with each of the many presentations.

No way would I have bought (or made a point of listening to) any of Swift's works... but I sure as hell would by Ryan's. The interpretation is just breathtaking. Is it fair to say they complement each other very well?
I thought this is his 'original' single. I'm drowning everytime i hear this song. And just now, i realize this is just a cover. I dont know why , but my heart breaks a little knowing that was cover from swift's. so? This is the best cover i've ever heard! Such a perfect arrangement ryan! Love it. :) i'm listening Taylor's as well
Adinda Sholiha Why is it bad? Writers write for one reason: for others to relate. Taylor is a writer. She's gained her fame because she writes all her own music and knows what she wants. She knows how to get her message out there and that's what people want. We listen to music because the lyrics say what we feel without us being able to make the music ourselves. Ryan said 1989 helped him through his divorce and that's why he did tma cover of her album. Just like us he found meaning behind the lyrics. Our hearts shouldn't break because it's a cover, they should be excited because he's just like everyone else. He finds meaning in other pieces of art. And he. changed it to make it his own. The music was changed because he wanted to make it his own. Have your her heard the original Bad Blood? It's very upbeat. Its like "you messed up and I'm over it and you're hurting while I'm shining." Ryan's version of Bad Blood is not like that. For him it's sad. Its like "well it's over and it hurts and I don't want to move on."
+John hearts T. Swift #DealWithIt you mean tour video? i agree :') and btw im kinda sad that he wont the deluxe version because you r in love's cover would have been really cool...
Interesting you say that, i think that of so many songs here both for Ryan and Taylor. Both fascinating listens. I feel like Ryan was going through the pain where as Taylor was past it when making the albums......
Sargoss Golek Sadly even Taylor's version of this song doesn't get as much recognition as the rest of the album. It truly is the most meaningful and beautiful songs on both albums.
Nice to fantasize a woman’s perspective although I always write with that oversight: yes. I wrote every lyric on the album and a lengthy session for discussing the impetus per cut would necessitate

You’re closer to the facts than you can help: Adams arranged the entire album before Swift ever saw one cut from it
And all the lyrics are mine
@@minxymoo2325 I have that malleability written in, but what you’re groping for is ‘male’ or ‘female’ and as Swift shaking her arse does preclude for meaning

You’re making shit up, Adams arranged the entire album’s cuts for Swift and on the original Swift 1989 album every storyline was from my portfolio..
the whole album is great, but, for me, this song is on a whole different level.
AMAZINGG. Love Taylor's version just as much, but oh my days, these lyrics in general are a masterpiece👏🏼
Pure 1980s heartland Americana. Love this.
What about New Romantic, Your are in love and Wonderland? We want the bonus track too!
Marianna Leão ive been requesting for it my whole life 💔💔💔
YESSS in my opinion these and Out of the Woods are the best songs of the album 😭😭 (and Blank Space, Clean, I Know Places well i gotta stop)

NICE ONE...couldn't have put it any better myself.
Love this version because of the arrangement and the vibe but taylor's version is the only one that could make me cry.
Easily the best song in the album. Ryan took it on a whole freaking different level!
I don't know-- his cover of Wildest Dreams and All You Had to Do Was Stay are phenomenal lol but this one is beautiful too
I love “All You Had to Do was Stay” ❤
this shows what a talented and versatile artist Ryan Adams is...
WELCOME.
Just amazing.
+ChloeGilbert4 I agree!
I love his rendition 😭😭😭😭
Been listening to this song on repeat for 2 straight days; it's that great!
I love it how WTNY starts with seagulls and Clean ends with them.
Eerika E What do you mean?
Minxy Moo if you listen closely, Ryan Adams' WTNY has seagull sounds in the beginning, and Clean has them in the end
that's why i play clean first fading next to wtny, i always did it feels like both are the same song

This guy is an incredible musician. This song touches my heart as do so many of his songs. I miss seeing him perform live. #forgiveryanadams
I agree
The drought was the very worst
When the flowers that we'd grown together died of thirst
It was months and months of back-and-forth
You're still all over me like a wine-stained shirt I can't wear anymore
Hung my head as I lost the war
And the sky turned black like a perfect storm
[Chorus:]
The rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
And by morning, gone was any trace of you
Think that I am finally clean
There was nothing left to do
When the butterflies turned to dust, they covered my whole room
So I punched a hole in the roof
Let the flood carry away all my pictures of you
The water filled my lungs, and I screamed so loud
But nobody heard a thing
[Chorus:]
And the rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
That morning, gone was any trace of you
Think that I am finally clean
Ten months sober, I must admit
Just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it
Ten months older, I won't give in
Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it
Now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it
[Chorus:]
The rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
By morning, gone was any trace of you
I think that I am finally clean
It came pouring down
When I was drowning, that's when I could finally breathe
By morning, gone was any trace of you
Gone was any trace of you
Gone was any trace, gone was any trace
Gone was any trace, gone was any trace
Gone was any trace, gone was any trace
Pretty much about as perfect as a record could be. From start to finish, no gimmicks and no filler. Bravo!
THIS IS SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL.
Oh the lyrics and imagery is absolutely brilliant. I like Ryans 'resigned' acceptance on this version.
clean is my favorite song put of all the song shes released

you get by this evolution that Taylor got this from adams, not otherwise

an artist in progress not an electronic overdub
Amazing Ryan - the whole album x
Absolute great mood and the chorus turnaround is so melodic and bright

Ergui minha cabeça enquanto perdia a guerra
A chuva caiu forte
Quando eu estava me afogando
Deixei a enchente carregar
Todas as minhas fotos suas
A água encheu os meus pulmões, eu gritei
Tão alto, mas ninguém ouviu nada
A chuva caiu forte
Quando eu estava me afogando
A chuva caiu forte
Quando eu estava me afogando
Foi aí que eu pude finalmente respirar
E pela manhã
Se foi qualquer vestígio seu
Eu acho que estou finalmente limpa
A chuva caiu forte
Quando eu estava me afogando
Foi aí que eu pude finalmente respirar
E pela manhã
Se foi qualquer vestígio seu
Eu acho que estou finalmente limpa
Finalmente limpa
Acho que estou finalmente limpa
Ah, ah
Acho que estou finalmente limpa

+Scott Zaccagnini Yessir. Without question.
+Scott Zaccagnini Also Matt Nathanson. And Bruce Springsteen. Possibly the Smiths.

Taylor Swift has co-writers......Imogen Heap co-wrote this with her.
SONIC FOXX MUSIC...(D.N.A... Developing New Artists)
Actually Imogen Heap wrote in a blog that the entire lyrics and melody were completely by Taylor.
Amazing. Really amazing.
Can't stop listening / downloading!
I hope New Romantics will pop up soon too. Great job Ryan (as usual)!
+SamanthaJackson It won't, it is part of the Deluxe Version, he isn't gonna cover neither "New Romantics", "You are in Love" or "Wonderland"
Oh ok,thank you
+John hearts T. Swift #DealWithIt it is sad because i like the songs in the deluxe version more

Now Taylor should cover an indie rock album.
humm

Welp that aged like fine wine
Ryan adams u r the fucking man ... bravo
Such a different feel but i love it
this cover has all wow factors
What took so long? This is amazig!
Why do I feel like this was his favorite?
'cause you tried......
Interesting you say that, i think that of so many songs here both for Ryan and Taylor. Both fascinating listens. I feel like Ryan was going through the pain where as Taylor was past it when making the albums......
OBSESSED

Strong influence of Johnny Marr (The Smiths) here.
I actually came here after listening to some songs of The Smiths!
finalmente💜💜💞💞💖
Finally!!!
If you want to see an amazing cover of this song you should check out ingrid michaelson's live rendition. I repeat, it's amazing.
Great😍
you hear what you are capable of gleaming capped ( predominated) by what you listen to:
Like this...listen to More than This by Roxy Music. ..a similar vibe. A very sweet groove.
I love you💖
finally 💜💜💞💞💖
" Wine stained suit " :)
I think he says shirt, but you're right-we could hardly expect him to be complaining about a dress he can't wear anymore, can we? Hahah
Easily my fave on his version of "1989"...
⭐️🙌🏼
❤️
so few views!!!!!!!!!! WTF
He released it later than the others. That might be why.
hope u r rite!
such a beaut song

I like Taylor swift
When Taylor heard this, she was all like "why didn't I do it country-style?"!
Clean
1980s vibes..
I'm Clean.🤔😎💖🌬💜🤲🙏💥
Achei meio clean. Gostei.
MY NIECE GAVE THESE LYRICS TO ADAMS..WELL, maybe not as a gift: i still wonder how i didn't notice these missing from my portfolio..
Nice to fantasize a woman’s perspective although I always write with that oversight: yes. I wrote every lyric on the album and a lengthy session for discussing the impetus per cut would necessitate
Ryan musical interpretation, however, including the seagull overwatch
Start reminds me of Coldplay(THE HARDEST PART).
😘
or possibly the next investment should be for ryan one entitled 'clear'
Did you just redo her whole album?
Honestly the lyrics to this song work best with Taylor's version. Soft, sweet and pure poetry. This is good but Taylor's is WAY better
What about WONDERLAND, YOU'RE IN LOVE AND NEW ROMANTICS?????? :'(
Angel Rodriguez because it's just a bonus track :3
