excellent viewing choice! Loved the Jowett ice van, The LD luton van, Hampshire pickup, Devon van, and grand 30s tourers like the Standard. late 30s /40s had all the character, seemed to go downhill by the 60s.
Riley 9 van: Riley never made vans, but this is a recent creation by Blue Diamond Riley Services (at Bicester Heritage) and was built from a 1935 Kestrel.
I think it's been a van for a while, a search online for its registration showed it pre-restoration, with a taller rear roof, my guess it was first converted maybe back in or shortly after WW2?
Wished I could go but nec is sooo massive and my old body won't let me walk round 🙁 so love the pictures and videos I see on here, watched 2 hub nut vids yesterday You asked which favs, I like the Jags, the old Austins and Morris's Think its time I looked in to getting a mobility scooter 🤭 Thanks for pics 👍

I like you have never seen a 'woody' prefect , wounder if it was 'coach built' as a special? I love all the old jaguar cars . I believe E-Type's sell for large sums of money. I do wounder why some of those vehicles sold so cheaply, maybe they had no reserve wich is always risky or as I heard recently some pre.50's models seem to be selling at bargin prices . It could be that people are frightened to work on them, i don't know. Anyway thanks for the snapshot tour much appreciated. 👍
That was great, really enjoyed that stroll down memory lane. I was amazed at how many of these old models I've owned buying them for a few hundred dollars or less at the end of their lives, many I got for nothing but the price of getting them running again, driving them till they died or fell apart, and moving on to the next cheap old bomb. As a young guy driving old 50's 60's n 70s cars hard killed them or bent them in a few months to a year but they were cheap and plentiful at the time, traffic laws weren't enforced so diligently and the penalties were nowhere near as harsh back then. Driving old cars and fixing the many little issues that stopped them going did teach me a lot and I enjoyed playing with cars. I was even too cheap to buy new parts unless I absolutely had to, even using 2nd hand oil if it leaked or burnt a lot. I still remember when I got the first car built in the 70s, an old Ford Falcon and then the 80s a Toyota, and I still drive a car built in 98. I think 2001 is the newest car I've ever owned LOL. Thanks for reminding me of the fun I had ;).

Loved the Vitesse coupe, are you planning to pop down to Brighton on the 8th of May for the finish of the HCVS London - Brighton run? My Cologne built 1944 is entered and there’s a strong steam contingent this year👍
Hi, this show has an emphasis on restoration projects, un-restored cars, barn finds etc etc although there are also lots of shiny cars too. Thanks for watching
parents had an 1800 when i was little. D reg. lovely car, leather seats as standard, ineffectual handbrake in the dashboard and the dip/full beam light was a foot button. it had horizontal slit shaped lights on the back and i think they changed the design of them as the years went by. turning circle less than a tank and my mum got trapped on a hairpin corner on the road down from harlech castle and because of the ineffectual handbrake, couldn't do a reverse hill start to back away from a stone garden wall. big man (in a plastic pig) going the other direction stopped and actually braced himself against the front of the car to give the handbrake a fighting chance. 😄 aahh! summer days out in wales with sweaty cheese sandwiches in a tupperware box on the back window shelf, chipsticks and orange squash.

07:25 'C' reg isn't necessarily 1965. In March 1965 my dad imported an Austin A55 that had been used overseas for some years and it received a 'C' plate - DYE518C. I can't remember when DVLC switched from date of registration to date of manufacture for the age indicator; maybe coincident with the introduction of 'Q' plates.
I don't suppose the current fuel prices had anything to do with the £5K plus extras, Packard straight eight?? Suitable for a large family? Foden-type fuel consumptions?? :)
There were plenty of other larger-engined cars in the auction that seemed to do ok, somehow old US iron tends to get overlooked which can make for some great buys IMO
Hi Rick, I was there on the Saturday, saw you from a distance (recognised the hat 😂) then you disappeared in the crowd was going to say hello. Some fantastic displays. My favourite in show was a P4 Rover 110 in maroon. The paintwork was immaculate. They were trying to start that Rover 10 hp you showed, using easy start it kept bursting into flames 😳 That Humber Hawk Estate would make a great replacement for the Volvo you sold? David
:-) I didn't see the start attempts on the Rover 10, not sure easy start does anything any favours really. Yes a mighty Humber estate would be a great "regular user" although the fuel bills might not be insignificant ... something sub-2 litre would probably be better for me
I had a Celica in the mid 70s in Germany (I was there with BAOR) but sold it when I left as it was a left hooker. I was disappointed that it wasn't the babe magnet I hoped it would be, probably the wrong pole to me.
The high bids are over on the CCA auctions website I think, from memory the Chrysler did £12,600 (now on ebay ....), I don't yet know the 2023 dates. There's the main classic car show held at the NEC in November this year.
I didn't have a close look at the Packard but from a cursory inspection it looked fab, it needed some re-commissioning I believe but all the photos on the auction's website looked promising
A wonderful selection of photos, with many memories. Pity about the background music - too monotonous; you should be able to do better than that! I agree that the Allegro estate was a better looking vehicle than the saloon - one of the vehicles that I regret letting go. As a youth I often dreamed of a Super Snipe estate, but it never happened. I do have a pre-production Land Rover 127 sitting in a barn, waiting for someone to 'find' it in due course.

The November show is much larger but one day isn't enough to get around it, so plan on two days minimum unless you like rushing!
