I really appreciate your honest video assessment of this device. When you mentioned the cons, the size of the case is not relevant for me I’m not clumsy. But having to reconnect every time you’re going to shoot, a picture is very relevant as is the fact that it is not to video yet. I will wait on purchasing based upon your review. Thank you very much and I am a new subscriber because it was such a great review. Thank you.
I'm on pre-order, looking forward to getting mine in 2/2024. I love the scroll dial idea. I so wish that apple would replace the up/down buttons with a dial.
Really liked your review and agree with much of what you have said….. I’m really enjoying my Fjorden but really feel they need to keep up with the production of cases to mirror the way apple update their iPhone versions. I have also decided after months of use that I don’t like the Fjorden MagSafe adaptor very much as I have an iPhone 15 and Fjorden only make cases for the pro versions, something I wasn’t truly aware of before purchase with this is mind I cannot use my Fjorden wrist strap as it only fits their cases .
Seriously considering the Fjorden. In looking at the Moments accessories, the telephoto lens would be useful. Can you give a review of it? Would you leave it on the phone or take it off when not using it? How bulky does it make the phone? How difficult is it to take on and off? Would you carry it with you to use when you see a long range shot? Does it fit in the pouch that comes with the package? Sorry for all the questions but I want to know what to expect. I also live in Hawaii. Thanks, Don
Was interested in what you had to say, but I had two questions that were over arching considerations. 1) is there an built-in battery that augments the built in iPhone battery? 2) is there a 1/4"- 20 socket. After listening to your opinions (and the justifications for those opinions), I still don't have the answers I'm looking for.
Thanks for the review! How is the hand-feel of the grip itself? Can you use it one-handed like a point and shoot on the street? I like that its so low profile, but I'm concerned that hampers its purpose as a camera grip compared to something like the SnapGrip.
I like the grip. Like you said, it’s nice that it’s so low profile. You can shoot one handed, but it would definitely be easier on a bulkier grip. I’ve never really shot one handed on a phone or a camera though.
@thesnoc this is exactly what I was wondering, from the video and online pics the profile of ‘the grip’ seems quite shallow, especially compared to the shiftcam PG leaving me concerned as to how easy it is to safely hold the phone and shoot with one hand?
Does the Fjorden have a basic shutter button that works with the native camera app of iPhone? My use case is as follows: I like to keep my phone away and out of sight when I am spending time with my daughter. However, I have these precious moments I like to capture. When the moment arises I would like to quickly take out my phone, snap, and put it back into my pocket. Is this possible with the Fjorden at all? This use case is why I still carry my pocket camera with me as its so quick to take pictures and put away.
This is actually super cool, was expecting a higher price tag too. The link was a bit of a pain at first, but maybe just because I'm at work. Prob gotta upgrade the 'ol iphone 8 before considering though :p
The idea is very intriguing to the point to where I am interested in buying one. Do you know if you have to use the fjorden case or can you use alternative MagSafe cases? Also can I use the grip with future iPhone models or do I need to buy a different grip each time?
You can use a different case or attach it directly onto the iPhone if necessary. You can also continue using the same grip on different models, you just have to remove it from the current iPhone.
@@WakeUpMatt from your testing, does the grip support burst shooting? And besides the grip needing to connect again when opening your phone, are there any delays when pressing down on the shutter button to win the camera actually takes the picture?
It has been a while since I have used it. I do remember that there was not a delay when pushing the shutter button but I can’t remember if it supports burst shooting. However I want to say yes to that to, that it does because I don’t believe I would have kept it if it didn’t because at the time I was looking for a setup that would on account of using it for my son’s t-ball games.
Hi @@VBMSerenity - we'd love to make Fjorden compatible with Android (I used to have a Huawei P30 Pro and loved the Leica lenses!), but unfortunately, we don’t currently have the resources to build a great Android camera app. It's a bit trickier than on iOS, due to the many variations of the camera systems on different Android phones. We hope to get there in the future! Cheers, Victor Founder & CEO, Fjorden
I think the main reason is just to have something that makes taking photos on your phone more fun and engaging and gives a more hands on feel. And the app provides way more functionality and options for taking those photos. Hope that helps!
Been waiting for a real hands-on review so thank you for this! COMMENT: Looks like it might provide a UX roughly in line with a Ricoh GR (haven't looked to see if implementing snappy zone focusing is gaining traction in their suggestions box--or if it is already in the app...but that UX is fun and potentially perspective-training) QUESTION: Am curious to know if the shutter button can wake a phone and open their app simultaneously (possibly mitigating some of the bt reconnection "delay")
Although I understand the point of the app and grip in this video, the title is misleading. An iPhone in it's purest form IS a mirrorless camera - no mirror, therefore, mirrorless. How about the title: "Fjorden - get the same feel as a DSLR using your iPhone"
Let me know your thoughts on Fjorden!!
This is actually sweet! For me this is the missing link to actually enjoying photography with my iPhone.
Yeah, it’s great!!😄🤘🏼

Thanks for this, I was about to purchase until the video compatibility. Ill def pick it up once the video is added.

@@WakeUpMatt so the grip just attaches to the iphone via mag safe (or adhesive for non-mag safe)?

To answer your question, the grip does not support burst shooting
Wish u showed us more of the actual product… Not just specs we wanna see it
Cool! Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
My pleasure!!😀
Once they add support for video I’m in! 😉
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
Yeah! I can’t wait for the update. They’ve got a ton of others coming too!
When are they going to make it compatible with Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra?

I really like the look of this. But I'm struggling with a simple question: if you have to tap the screen anyway why bother?
I think the main reason is just to have something that makes taking photos on your phone more fun and engaging and gives a more hands on feel. And the app provides way more functionality and options for taking those photos. Hope that helps!
Truly looks like it could bring some joy to iPhone shooting. But that price tag has me over it real quick.
Will the video support be a hardware or just an App update?
I would assume an app update as the hardware would work great for video mode too.
Can it be used with other pro apps?
I don't think so.
Been waiting for a real hands-on review so thank you for this!

It does not
Ordered the kit 2 years ago, still waiting for delivery. Don‘t think it actually exists anymore…
O shit…. I was afraid of this, just emails on delays….
Ordered mine and received it within 3 weeks lol
Is this project dead?
First fjorden review i guess
Is the app support flip image preview?, im planning using the app with dof adapter
Not the first review, but I still had a ton of fun reviewing it! The app does support flipping to selfie mode, if that’s what you mean.
At that price point, I'll pass.
