Chris Potter yes! We enjoy the elbow room particularly when something doesn’t work like it should and we have to troubleshoot. If the builders had to spend a week cruising and really using their own design I believe you would see better designs. 😎
A very wonderful video. Thank you for the explanation. At minute 05: 3, watch a black shape that looks like a doll. What is its name and what is its role?A very wonderful video. Not sure if you are looking at the exhaust hose and muffler or the black object that was on the upper screen for a second or two- that is a ventilator blower fan.
@@AskCaptainChris thanks for the reply. But I was asking in a more general aspect. Do these diamond series engines typically come with grid heaters or glow plugs and is there a way I could easily tell by looking? Thanks!
If it’s a plastic orange stick that you have then the red transmission ATF fluid is difficult to see. Lay it against a paper towel and read the stain. The markings are clear but the fluid may not be easy to see.
Ray M there’s really no excuse for anything else. Even in an older boat the engine room is a terrific indication of how well it’s been maintained...or not.
This is a B series but I’m sorry, as this was from training aboard a clients boat a few years ago I cannot say which model. If you’d like a private tour with your boat, and some education in your engine room and below deck systems, we can do that either in person or using FaceTime or zoom. Ask Captain Chris 772-205-1859
@@abdessamadmessabihi2267 there should be a builders plate somewhere on the valve cover or injection pump. That will show the engine model and serial number. Then you can email a Cummins dealer worldwide to get information you are looking for.
Sorry I do not have that information. Best to look at the owner's manual. The service is based on hours of operation and if it is marine or other use. Oil and filter change, fuel filter, valve clearance, turbo inspection and more. Best answer I can provide.
Scott Goodwin thanks for sharing your comments. I was filming this video early in the morning while the new owners were relaxing with their coffee. Trying to be respectful of their peace and quiet. As Jon Lovitz says,” I’m an ACTOR!” Oh wait...I’m not. Just an experienced cruiser and professional captain trying to share a few learning opportunities with those who want to learn. Been 8 years since aboard, thank you for refresher.
@@calh4010 I can also do a FaceTime with you in your below deck spaces. Just call me.
Helpful on the basics so I can follow my diesel course and maintain our Cummins diesel as we cruise to Alaska.

if thats 1100 degree exhaust going out before it gets mixed with water you got problems... 850 is your safe sustained temp
Thank you. If you find an error in the question, I am translating it. I am not good at English
how much would it cost to rebuild 5,9 cummins
Do these engines have grid heaters or glow plugs? I didn’t see a spot for a grid heater on the turbo supply air distribution.
Nope. That is a Southern boat. No heaters or glow plugs.

What level should the transmission fluid be on the little orange stick

We are using Cummins 6CTA for generator. We have frequency fluctuation problem . anyone plz can help what could be the reason ?
If the generator engine is maintaining 1800RPMs then it must be an electrical issue.
I have a cummins motor and have it ZF 200A ratio 1.533
I want to know the engine power and gauge
ZF is a reduction gear. Call your local Cummins dealer for more specifics.
@@AskCaptainChris There is no authorized agency here for cummins so I want you to help me how to choose helice and how to know the power of the engine
