The best drivers are never the drivers who think they are the best, because it breeds complacency. An important lesson learned that most drivers/operators of machinery have to learn at some stage, just be glad your lesson wasn't that expensive, just don't forget it. Keep up the good work! ;)

Don’t let the incident destroy your confidence
I’ve had plenty of them over the years .
Good luck and keep on trucking .
It takes one lapse in judgement in a HGV to have an incident 👍

I remember, i was driving in germany through the town with these narrow streets, cobble stone kinda town, houses right on the pavement kinda place, made a turn and the back of thr trailer hit the corner of her roof. Took the gutter right off. 2 or 3 weeks later, i was loading at dhl, put it in reverse, then want to go fwd to straighten things up, got flustered and reversed back into the dock wall 😅 funny now but at the time, couldnt have felt more embarrassed. That was 5/6yrs ago, havent messed up since. I enjoy your videos, youre honest in your words. Most can relate to these kinda moments.

On exercise (in the 80s) on some forest tracks and I missed a turn so decided to reverse back, unfortunately for me a landcover had been following me closely and was in my blindspot... quick mirror check, selected reverse (nae fancy cameras at the back) and crunch, before he could blow the horn...

i'm class 2, i do 2-7 drops max .. the company i am at now, i do 2-4 .. i'd never do 17 drops unless they were next door to each other, f000k that .. everyone hits something eventually .. this is why companies have insurance .. my main issue is tail swing in my 26t .. i am very weary about every corner, bend and island .. glad you're learning and evolving, it'll make you a better driver in the long run

I takes a long time to get to grips with being an HGV driver. I've been doing it 30 years and can still get sweaty on some jobs. Get your Class 1 asap, they are much, much easier to drive and less deliveries or collections; normally. You won't look back.

On the truck accident richter scale, hitting a fence is -10. Every truck driver will near enough hit something. Reversing is always a problem because of lack of space and other distractions. Keep confident and do not doubt yourself ever!

Good wages here. We are given sheets and PDA. The orders are loaded for us when we get to the depot. We sometimes have to load top-ups ourselves if the orders are adjusted last minute.

Welcome to the real world. Sorry but make things easier for yourself and not others. As long as you stay legal, like tacho, parking and unloading restrictions. The more you try to accommodate other road users the more chance of mistakes and accidents. Also there are a lot of idiots and impatient people.

  • @dhenbhoy

Tip: Until you get real experience, stop talking to the camera whilst manoeuvring and focus 100% on the task at hand.
You "realised what you were doing"? That certainly didn't come across in the video, you stated you thought it was the front wheel on the kerb.
    Anyhoo, unlucky driver...
