    Let's talk about the i5-2400 and i5-3470 in 2020, can they play games well with a GTX 1650 Super even? Or will they fall behind in titles like Call of Duty Warzone, Fortnite, RDR2 and Doom Eternal at 1080p. Let's find out.
    Basically the i5-2400 and 3470 are having a very tough time keeping up in 2020, though they still hold some places for budget gaming PCs:

    In this modern day, I wouldn't touch a quad core without hyperthreading unless you're pairing it with a GTX 1050 or lower. My i5 2320 was bottlenecking my GTX 1050 Ti in CS:GO and PUBG. I've gotten an i7 2600K and that has given me a 25-50% fps boost. It's amazing how multiple cores are being used better now compared to 2006-2016 where single core performance mattered most and people just stuck with old Core2 Quads or i5 2400s

There is still a office HP OEM being used in my house as an for office duties with a 2500 that still works like new, it'sbeen on 24/7 for the last 5 years, doesn't miss a beat. Speaking of cheap CPUs, I'd love to get a head to head between the old Xeon CPUs. Keep seeing these benchmarks where they all look good, but it would great to see a head-to-head, with all optimizations, so we can see which one winds up on top for price/performance. Throw in a 1600AF as a standard budget CPU, for easier comparison to the rest of the available CPUs, and it'd be a fantastic reference.
    All other references for CPU performance I can find online show far worse performance than your videos, so it feels like they're not optimizing the CPUs, if they test the old Xeons at all.

    This honestly depends on where you live. I've been flipping some PCs with 750 Ti's for cheap and people love them. I have one here with an i5 2500s, 8GB DDR3 and a 120GB SSD that will work perfectly fine for an entry level gaming PC, especially for the price I'm going to flip it.
    The main difference is that a 1080p screen is far from being the most common resolution out here, the VAST majority of laptops under 600€ still come with a TN 1366x768 resolution screen, so having a 1080p monitor is something most people don't care enough to upgrade to when they have a perfectly working one at home (I still see lots of 1280x1024 and 720p screens around).

    • @rhyzon
      @rhyzon 4 года назад +1

      @Setzer K you can find them online for around 400€ (the really crappy Celeron ones). Problem is, since most people buy a laptop while in the shop and not online, they very rarely have them on display or even in stock, so most end up buying whatever is in there.
      Also, monitors tend to last a really long time, and the usual motto here is "if it isn't broken there's no need for a replacement". I know people perfectly happy gaming on 17" CRT monitors because "it still works".

    • @rhyzon
      @rhyzon 4 года назад

      @Setzer K Portugal. Most people still don't like the idea of paying first and receiving the product later, stores know this and take advantage. Finding a current model laptop at a decent price on a store is extremely rare.
      Right now I'm fixing a 9-10 year old laptop. It needs a new screen, new battery, possibly new keyboard and to replace the old HDD with a new SSD. I told the person in question that it wasn't worth it, it might be better to buy a refurbished laptop or a new one for some more money, but no, they want to spend money on the one they have for some reason.

    • @rhyzon

    This had me thinking, when considering that the price of a used i7 2600/3770 from ebay is $60-75 Buy it now. What about chips like Xeon E3-1245? 4 cores/8 threads sandy bridge. Basically a 2600 with some clock differences for a better value potentially?
