I'm so excited for the future videos of this channel. You talk about unappreciated things because they are the noble aspects of humanity that has been devalued in the systems we are using...healing, justice, harmony, free access to knowledge. Devaluing these stopped the benefits all were receiving from them. And that's only about how we think about things. Our imagination is programmed to serve other people's purposes. I am Christian and now feel my imagination was used to learn some concepts i don't agree with now, (in the new testament) and questioning what i was taught in the church i was at. No more church for me since 2004 when mom died and my life was uprooted where i was. Good & positvity are in order. Healing, justice and knowledge are my efforts too for my country Ko Hawaii Pae Aina aka Hawaiian Islands 🌺

It's the same project actually! Sadly, the title The Diaspora Strikes Back has already been taken (by a Caribbean author more than 10 years ago), and OUP said they preferred something more specific. Release is scheduled maybe end of next year, and I'll definitely keep you updated... Well, if I write the final typescript on time!
Salam, I know this might sound but I just wanted to ask you cause you’re a sociologist. Do you know why there has been rise in crime in certain european countries due to migration(well that’s what’s been proposed)
Salaam there's no simple answer, as is it about crimes committed by migrant, or crimes committed against migrants, or both? There are two factors roughly (but it's much more complex): how precarious is the situation of the newcomers; and what support are the newcomers given. In most countries, people who are the most disadvantaged are the more at risk of undertaking illegal activities because legal ways are either non existent or complicated - this is why before immigration, some countries develop gangs amongst the poorest (peaky blinders in the UK is a prime example). If there's a strong support system, people usually don't need to resort to illegal activities to survive. Migration brings on top of that the trauma of displacement, separation from loved ones, or from very difficult situations like war - which makes people more desperate for stability and safety. Then, there is the reception offered by the local authorities. If politicians or the media are hostile to newcomers, people are more likely to commit violence against certain groups. An interesting case is that of Polish migrants in Europe. They were badly received in France because people felt they were "too religious", they were badly received in Britain because they were accused of being "incompatible" with British culture, stealing jobs, etc... and people who feel alienated have more risks of going underground to avoid rejection...but in Iceland, Polish people have virtually no problems. I'm not sure why, but I would guess a strong social support system, and a society that is not too affected by ultra nationalism maybe helps. If newcomers are considered as normal human beings and potential contributors to the society instead of a plague that endangers the culture, I think it helps; and that's one big difference between Iceland, for example and other countries like France.
Usually I just get annoyed cause people see that the migrants that commit crime are Muslims and say ‘look Islam bad, Muslim culture bad’ when Islam literally doesn’t allow the crimes commited
