Can we just take a moment to appreciate all the background characters in this film? Aside from the gas-masked soldiers, a lot of these guys look well designed and seem to have their own personality, so for me it feels a little extra tragic when they’re all inevitably killed
I don't know why, but I love how at 4:59, she looks at Milo with pity, but at 5:00 she glares angrily at Rourke. So much emotion packed into just a couple seconds. Truly an underrated masterpiece.

Well, ya know, if I’m not mistaken, that’s not the first time a Disney female’s lips disappear, and if I remember correctly, there was also Ariel from The Little Mermaid when she protests against Sebastian about going back to the ocean w/ her father, her sisters, and the fishes when she wants to b w/ Eric.
I would like to thank you for editing the movie which features Audrey. I never fully paid true attention to the detail that the Disney artists put into her character. I appreciate that they showed the emotions in her eyes. Her demeanor was accurately reflected. Good Show!
That part at 0:26 can send shivers down your spine when you realise that the watertight doors coming down also happened only 2 years previously after Titanic hit an ice berg as it started to founder with this film set in 1914 😱😱
@@wombunktules1973 It makes fairly good sense when you realise that "with this film taking place in 1914" relates to the "only two years previously" part. The sentence got out of hand and jumbled around, but I've definitely seen worse. :D
What is truly terrifying is the absolute necessity of that action/decision in a sub taking on water. Your better instincts are screaming to give every last crewman a chance, but the reality is even a seconds' delay could spell the end for all aboard. And 'the end' is even more terrifying, particularly in modern, very-deep-sea subs. The physics of 'crush depth' in deep water are mind-warping.
0:35 never realized that mistake. she says that they are taking water, if cold sea water touches something as hot as the boilers it will explode and break the ship in half, or in this case the submarine. but there is one problem... steam boilers need to vent large amounts of smoke. how are they venting smoke without the water pouring into the boilers? at a depth of what it looks like 500 meters? they could have just said that she was worried about water reaching the batteries. this movie takes place in 1914, at that time the Germans had Uboats that where powered by batteries when traveling underwater and if seawater came in contact they would produce this deadly acid gas, they could have said that instead of the boiler line lol

You got it a bit wrong. 1876 is when the 38th state was admitted. But the USA consisting of 38 states lasted all the way till 1889 when the next four were admitted. That was a fairly significant length of time for the US to be "all of 38" and stick in his memory that way.

Nice info, thanks
even better question is: where do they got oxygen to run the boilers? and non-saline water?)
Or they could have had diesel engines instead, which was the standard at that time over steam engines.
