the missing chorus is awesome! I think Pendulum fans are now used to the definitive version of it but this missing part is like the final piece in the Jigsaw
I know this was posted like 2 yrs ago, but ever since finding this I can't listen to the normal Propane anymore. I really like the chorus because it gives a new depth to the song for me.
You know, if you said that this was the product of a text-to-speech AI learning Rob's voice and you had it write and sing a chorus for Propane Nightmares, I would've believed that too.
Fun fact: this version was available on MySpace via Chrysalis music, and is preserved on the WebArchive's MySpace archive, though the quality is obviosly worse than the CD version.
Wait what??? The Propane Nightmares most know wasn't the original? Was trying to find a karaoke version but instead saw this goddamn. This is a find and thank you for posting it! Tbf I like the actual one maybe a tiny bit more but this is almost as good. Both versions are fantastic and it's a shame that this has only 180k views...
I love how there's an additional bit of "lore" in the missing chorus. If we go by the music video, - "I can't help you" The priest is declaring someone unsavable (probably the same girl who's "mind is willing but soul remains") - "She's the Archer's child from the dark side" I'm guessing Archer is some sort of euphemism for devil? - "You know that I can't help you" Song structure more than anything lol - "We're out of time, we're going tonight" The folks are conducting their final ceremony, so the child can't be "purified" or anything because there's literally no time. Something to do with a comet, if I recall correctly.
They all killed themselves at a specific time because a comet (or meteor shower possibly) was passing overhead and they believed they would leave their ‘earthly vessels’ (aka bodies) and catch a ride on the comet and travel to either a new galaxy or heaven. Craziness
@@balamlopez1294 You know it. Also @tb3420 that's pretty interesting. Sorry for responding late because I had no idea my comment actually got any attention. lmao
I have half a mind to make that edit myself because of how hard I agree with you, the issue is I don't know anything about audio editing whatsoever, I have like surface level knowledge of how some tools in Audacity work and that's it 😅 but the actual propane nightmares with this added in right at the end would be PERFECTION
Hot take: the chorus here is good but I feel like it works better as a bridge maybe and makes the song feel like it has two different choruses. It might be why they got rid of it. If not the bridge maybe have it lead into the chorus we all know and love more. It feels like it kinda breaks up the song except AFTER the regular chorus. Make the chorus we know of a pre-chorus and this one the main chorus, basically.
I always loved Propane Nightmares as a standalone track and as (in my humble opinion) one of Pendulum's best. And now I have another version of it to listen to. Feels like I've been catapulted back 13 years to when I listened to In Silico for the first time. Thank you for that
Nice to see all these pendulum uploads in 2020; like a blast from the past. Glad people like you are keeping the most legendary drum and bass band alive. Much love :) And damn this sounds so different from the final product- not bad tho.

Very interesting but I gotta admit that I’m glad that they removed and revamped some vocal parts from this demo version. Sounds too cluttered to me. Also, aren’t the vocals a lot louder in this version? Big up for uploading this btw!
yeah super loud vocals, robs documentation on in silico shows that he often merges different songs and versions into one to create preview / playout versions and this is one of those!
I think i understand why they removed the extra chorus, the way it starts with "IIIII cant help you" kind of overlaps with the previous bar and steps on the "bring it on home" (or whatever's there in this version). If it was me, I'd start the "I" on the offbeat just after and shorten it a bit.
True. I think that section is repeated too much in this version. Just doing it once at the end without vocals makes it more impactful. Putting the Dune sample in its place was a masterstroke.
@@Paperkutchy okay will do. suppose i shouldve come up with a template by now :p unfortunately i also dont have the submarines source anymore, but what i do know is that it is from r/wallpapers , around the time of the video's upload
This is an awesome find. I've always wanted to hear early versions of this song. Another question I've always had is what instruments they use in the 'drop' sections? It sounds like a combination of like trumpet and guitar or something... either way this is huge.
we have recovered a couple promos and a misprint of in silico but unfortunately all of them had a final version so any versions of make the magic aka 9k miles demo are out of reach currently!
I always felt like the studio version left a little to be desired. Just slap that cut "Archer's child" chorus into the album version and it's a complete product. I'm a little torn though because the half-time section in the album version (about 3:00) absolutely s l a p s! The autotune in the verses and the 'bring it on home' at the end is more polished too...but man, that cut chorus is a little more juicy than just repeating 'bring it on home'
Isn't the second line of lyrics messed up? I don't think that it's "death from above", more like "coming from you" like in Propane Nightmares we know from In Silico. Or I'm missing something? Anyway, thank you Greg for this upload. Great work as always ^^
This chorus! Goddamn! Propane Nightmares is one of my favourite songs of all time. I love the release version, but hearing this makes it hard to go back. I'm seeing the band next week and it pains me know that Rob wont sing this part.
While the Chorus does add some nice flare, this version feels like a demo. The Chorus part feels like an experimental insert that doesn't exactly feel right in some parts. But, I think it works great as part of the ending before the last verse of the song. It's unfortunate that it wasn't included in the final release.
Possible upload to Spotify or SoundCloud would be amazing. If this happens I’m on repeat for a long... time. Otherwise really great work! Following you for a while.
