Your progression over the last couple of years has been amazing to watch! Such an inspiration. I was a sponsored street skater back in the 90's. I had a bad knee injury in the 2000's. Trying to get back into skating, but keep the compression/impact of back and knees low, is a challenge. So I started riding pools and dabbling in freestyle. That's when I came across your videos. It's been fun to learn these tricks along with you! I found your analytical approach interesting. It's not a thing that a lot of people wanted to share back in my day... foot placement -- kick angle etc... you either knew or you didn't. I know there's other tutorials out there -- Osterman, Tony Gale, etc... and I love those as well, but you make your vids super approachable, and besides that, there's something so pure about your love of skating, and that makes me want to root for you. There have been times when I've yelled "go faster! or "just kick the tail harder!" at you, mostly during your railslide and noseslide vids, which is hilarious. But I would find myself manualing between parking lines, trying to build my knee strength, and I would think about you and that would keep me pushing forward. Anyways, keep up the good work! I'm a fan.
Welcome back to skateboarding! I'm glad you've been able to find some new skate niches to bring it back into your life. That's awesome! And thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. I'm sure I swing and miss sometimes, but making tricks "approachable" is definitely a underlying goal I have 😃 So, hearing that is encouraging! Also, I admit, I'm sure I need someone yelling "go faster" next to me when I do those tricks, but happy to report, I have recently gone faster (emphasis on "er") during board slide attempts 😂 I won't be giving up at the very least haha And also cheering you on too! Hope you're having fun with bowl and freestyle!
I had such a similar experience this past week where I realized I was trying to flip on the wrong side of the board (tail instead of nose). So cool to see you had a similar experience. Now I need to go out and actually land it. Thanks for the tips!!
I love this trick. I never learned it in the old days but it is high on my list of things to learn when I start back up. I’ve got an Element street set up with Andy Anderson dragons and a Waltz freestyle setup coming this week. I’m definitely recording my first steps back on. This should be hilarious. Don’t know if I will share it 😂
it's always fun watching you break down your understanding of the tricks. Question: about the thumb problem at 9:12 , did you experience any wounds/blisters? since your fingers would rub with the griptape a lot when grabbing the deck. I look forward to the trick for the letter C
thanks Azzam! Glad you enjoy that 😃 I use DKL rubber grip tape for the most part. So, I didn't hurt my hand at all. I'm sure you could cut your fingers using real grip on this trick. But I don't think it'll be as bad as like a carousel.
My butterflips are pretty wierd, i trow the board trew my legs like a reintges flip, but this is the way i learn it without having someone explaining it to me. I can’t do normal ones, only the dangerous ones trew the legs 😅
Can you explain how Reintges flips and Butter flips are different? I thought the technique is almost the same except you catch the Butter flip with the hand and you let the Reintges flip float down? (Ignoring the fact that butter flips are most often done off the tail and Reintges flips off the nose)?
I think most people do the butterflip and reintges flips on opposite ends of the board. (Not tail and nose, but opposite ends). The path they travel is different though. The butterflip comes up and can drop back down where it started. So, if I do the butter flip off the tail, the nose comes up into my left hand and then can drop back down where it started. The nose always stays to the left side of my body. (I cannot but) If I did a reintges flip...I would flip off the nose, and the tail comes up, crosses my body and lands on the other side of me. So the tail starts on the right side of my body and lands on the left side of my body. And I kind of stay in the center. So, for the butter flip, the nose and tail stay in the same spot they start. With the reintges flip, the board turns end over end (the nose and tail swap positions). Does that make sense? 😂 I certainly confused them when I started trying butterflips.
standing on 1 wheel and the tail with your feet together like that? i wear size 13 shoes. how the hell LOL. thats wild. once again your skate talent is very fun to watch. 👏
you've gotten so good since i started watching you a few years ago. you landed this because you're a BADASS skateboarder Sarah !
haha thank you 😂 definitely can feel the difference compared to a few years ago

Haha 😂 I've had the opposite thoughts quite often too. Like...my legs are too short for this lol But we got it! 💪
