I was 9 when this movie came out and loved it growing up. It was my favorite Thanksgiving movie. I had never seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles until my girlfriend showed it to me last Thanksgiving and she had never seen Dutch until this past weekend when I showed it to her! Great timing that you watched it, too! Glad you laughed a lot!
I haven’t seen this movie in decades. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Fun fact: Ed O’Neill is a martial arts expert and was fairly proficient at it when he ‘got his keester kicked’ in this movie.
Hey. I was the one who recommended this film last year for a Thanksgiving film for the season and I'm so glad you got around to checking it out even though this movie isn't the most well known. Ed O'Neal killed this role and I just never could get enough of him. Great festive selection for after Halloween!
Ed O'Niel has made a career of being a surly grump and does it so well. This is a very young Ethan Embry. He would do a lot of movies in his teens-20s and still pops up here and there. Highlights are Vegas Vacation (the 4th National Lampoon's Vacation) and Can't Hardly Wait, an ensemble teen house party comedy.
Yes this is some peak Ed O'Neill. He really wasn't in that many movies or anything, but I know your Patrons would salivate and drool over new episodes if you worked through Married with Children
I love this movie, it's great, I haven't seen it in years, Good job on probably being the first person ever to first time watch this on youtube lol. You were the first I'd wager... love your channel, keep up the good work, and enjoying these movies.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this movie. 1. Ed O'Neil doesn't even like this movie. So much so that he made fun of it twice on Married...With Children. 2. Best line in the movie: "You hurt her, I'll hit you so fuckin' hard your dog will bleed."🤣 3. E. G. Daily, "As long as I have a face...."😋 Check her out in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure".
My father loved this movie so much! Back in 2005 he was in a rehab for a broken back, and I got permission from the staff to play the movie in his room. However, word got out amongst the elderly residents and I was asked by management to play it in their theater. Me showing movies actually became a weekly event there for a few years. I'd send out a poll as to what the elderly residents would like to watch. Surprisingly, they loved "Superbad," "The 40 Year Old Virgin," and "American Pie," which I was unprepared for. I got a lot of unusual requests, particularly a real hankering for Russ Meyer movies from old ladies, which is rather hilarious. James, since you are still new-ish to movies, I'll explain; Russ Meyer was an independent film maker who loved filming women who had comically gigantic, natural breasts. What his films lacked in plot, they made up for in truly gorgeous cinematography, as Meyer was originally a photographer who shot the first few issues of Playboy magazine. A lot of his film and photographs from WWII have been used in film and print, including textbooks.
Wow did you just meet Al Bundy? What a great movie. I think he was calling his name incorrectly to annoy him and show it wasn't about HIM all the time but when it mattered, he got the name correct. Like when the car was hit by the truck
This movie made me a fan of Ethan Embry (credited here as Ethan Randall) for life. Nice to see he still works get steady. In his 20s Embry reunited with O'Neill on the Dick Wolf produced reboot "L.A. Dragnet".
Believe it or not, I'd never heard of "Dutch" before. Interestingly, Ethan Embry, who played Doyle, was credited as Ethan Randall for this one. I don't know why this was, though - perhaps a maiden name. You can add him to the actor list, too - he was The Bass Player in That Thing You Do! and as astronaut Pete Conrad in First Man.
Great Awesome movie Dutch, Edward Leonard O'Neill in the early 90's starred in some great movies this being one of them the other being The Adventures of Ford Fairlane starring Andrew Dice Clay.
Not to mention Cruisin' / Disorganized Crime / Blue Chips / Wayne's World 1&2 / Wreck-it-Ralph / Finding Dory, and the like! (Of course, who could forget Miami Vice / Married With Children / Modern Family; considering they're all shows O'Neill has appeared on?!)
8:20 - I don't get boarding schools either. If I had a lot of money, my kid would be at home with tutors one on one. Not half way across the country where I don't see him every day.
This Movie & Planes,Trains & Automobiles,I Watch Both Of These Movie's Every Thanksgiving, That's My Tradition, Which Is Tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving Everyone & Great Reaction To This Great Classic Movie 😊
Never saw someone reacting to it and haven't seen myself for a long time. Loved to watch it probably in my late teens when they would run it on our cable station. I have watched episodes of Married with Children before that, so was familiar with Ed O'Neill's comedic prowess :)
This Movie & Planes,Trains & Automobiles,I Watch These Movie's Every Thanksgiving, That's My Tradition, Which Is Tomorrow & Great Reaction To This Great Classic Movie 😊
I forgot all about this movie thanks for the reminder. I have another suggestion it was a sleeper and often missed movie called kissing a fool(1998) and I think you will recognize someone even tho they act completely different

You keep saying how you were or are a masive book worm. Who are some of your favorite authors or books? There are a great deal of movies taken from books. You reacted to some steven King movies but didn't seem to know the stories. I think it would be kinda neat to find a story you're already familiar with and watch the movie version of it. Great reaction, btw. i didn't think this movie was that popular to get on a voting list. Now you got to bindge the show married with children
This concept has been brought up a lot. But if I've read the book then I basically know everything that's going to happen. The Martian has been requested a ton. But I read it twice. The only thing I could react to is what's different. I know about the potatoes, the saving him, the struggles. See the problem
That pinwheel firework is supposed to be horizontal not virtical whata why it it miss fired can't beat a Ford for good breaks and can't beat a native tennesseean for fireworks
The movie was not a hit . In fact it was joked about on Ed O'Neil show married with children how bad it did. I thought it was on par will planes trains and automobiles
I saw this in the theatre when I was 11 and didn't like it much at all..I don't think I liked the kid and Al Bundy wasn't Al Bundy enough..we'll see how it goes at 43..
7:05 I ran out of tolerance watching you and your over the top laughter; another point i wanted to make is that, you take up entirely to much screen time talking more than you should especially when your head takes up the entire screen and the movie is temporarily blurred out because you just cannot wait to talk. I mean IDK 🤷🏽♂️ your style of commentary may work well with your current audience, but as of now? ( it definitely won't be me). With all due respect 💯
@AwesomeUSMovies I'm not here in an attempt to change who or what you are ( this is your channel, of course). Do what you want. It'll be better IMO if you allowed the film to play for at least 🤔 10 seconds? Instead of interrupting it every 3 to 5 seconds to talk ( yes, I've counted the many times you've done it). Dutch is my favorite underrated movie 🎬, your first-time reactions, however. I can do without. But ok💯👋
such an under rated comedy. love it.

It's a great fun movie for sure
There's something wonderful about seeing you watch this and enjoy it so much.
Especially for something that is, to an extent, unknown to many.
I haven’t seen this movie in decades. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Fun fact: Ed O’Neill is a martial arts expert and was fairly proficient at it when he ‘got his keester kicked’ in this movie.

Also he's great in "That Thing You Do!" He was also fun on "Grace and Frankie".
Great overlooked movie
Ed O'Neill plays
Al Bundy in Married with Children.
And Al Bundy is the GOAT.
Best character in a comedy serie of all time.
10:08 - fathers are vital, because one day you need to do that to a pissed off teenager and a mom won't be able to.
Over thirty years later and after every time I cook bacon I quote this movie. "Nothing burps better than bacon". I would buy the t-shirt. Nice review
This is one of my favorite forgotten comedies. Totally appropriate for the holidays
Al Bundy at his best. Lol

James, this is a great and truly under rated movie. Lots of fun and set in your part of the woods.
It's very funny.
I knew you would love this film!!! It is hilarious and one of my favorites. Never fails to crack me up and your reaction did not disappoint. 😊

I'm really glad you liked Dutch...Add these to the list (Homeward Bound the Incredible journey 1993) & (Look Who's Talking 1989).
Oh man, I can't watch this reaction. For Dutch, I've got to subscribe on Patreon and watch the full thing. So stoked that you reacted to this one!

Randall is his birth name. He was credited as this early on in his career. Embry was his grandfathers name and he switched to that later on.
