That's also went against me before. I'm just very submission oriented, I don't care about points. One time I was up in a match 11-0 with 1:30 left and got tired of sitting in back mount. Went for the bow & arrow choke and missed it and got subbed with 40 seconds left.
Me too. Total disbelief! How the f did he lose that fight? If he was struggling why didn't he just stand up and lift opponent off the ground earlier, so then you go back to starting point
I've used the baseball bat a bunch in comps, white belt more than blue belt and I'm not a purple yet. The thing about the baseball bat, is you only need one grip until you're ready to choke, and you make it easier to pass on one side, which usually distracts them with going for the pass, when they go for the pass then you grab your second grip, and rip into it like your life depends on it because if it does not work you are screwed 🤣 but I agree he went for it early and the opponent just kept pressuring
take your time to get the grips, bait your opponent by letting them pass the guard and then just go belly down. its beautiful, incredibly sneaky, and absolutely soul crushing; opponent thinks they're being given the back then all of a sudden they're blacking out. haha well done.
I saw a judo player named Randy Bayuk execute this grip and throw from the standing position. He got the grip and then did a sacrifice maneuver (basically slid his leg across his body and rotated to his back). His opponent tapped immediately after hitting the ground.
I have a video of me doing this. Last few seconds of the match. He went out. Baited him in my closed guard, he was up by a takedown with 30 seconds left
I'm surprised I could pull it off so well at the blue belt level, my gym knows all to well about this choke haha. Where'd you come across this video? I reel like it got reposted somewhere but I have no idea where.
Lol higher belts wont even let you get one damn hand in their collar. And youd be amazed how many lower belts I've seen get VICIOUSLY double arm barred from attempted baseball bat chokes lol.
My professor was teaching me about points and patience in tournament. He already got the sweep. He just needed to be patient and instead opened himself up. We also learned the knee slice with a pass. Easy vulnerability if pressure isn't right.
@@vaportrail226 correct. Pretty much act like you're holding a baseball bat, and then try and put your elbows together. The throat is being squeezed in that tiny hole.
I'm not BJJ dude either but I watched a couple times. When the black dressed fighter was on his back, you see him grab his left hand wayyy into the collar underneath it over the left shoulder of the which fighter. Then grabbed the other side and rolled over making a sort of twisted choke with his own shirt. My inexperienced self didn't see it until I watched a couple times!
OH MAN!!!!! Holy HELL!!!! IF You squint and X-ray thru this feller’s back Reich thar, You’d probably see him execute a Baseball Bat choke, so I’m Told...
Yeah he was a really bad reff. I literally tore this guy's ankle out same tournament with a toe hold and he tapped. I let go and he didn't see it. So we restarted. I ended up losing the match by points and the guy limped off the mat after the match and then went to the medical booth then went home.
It was a very nice takedown forsure. That being said I'm a back player and usually always stand straight up to try and get the grips I want before I go down. A few matches where guys have super nice takedowns on me.
You dont see many purple belts and above falling for this sht or even bothering to apply it on eachother....mostly whites and blues. Good luck even getting one hand in my collar that deep, I'll rip grips until your fingers bleed.
Baseball choke fractured my hyoid bone the first time i experienced it, it's vicious and it strikes very hard like easykill (variation of ezekiel from jocko willink) airchokes makes you tap way faster than blood chokes but are also more dangerous for the integrity of your rolling partner, you should handle these chokes with care even in championships.
It’s amazing how you can have zero points then come back and when the whole match with a choke. Nice vid!

@@MrUfcforlife Totally agree. And the grip isn't a cross grip so it just seems like its for control... until the choke sinks in.

only works on whitebelts or on someone who should still be a whitebelt
@@inq752 haha, no.
He stayed calm moved with patience and confidence and got him everywhere he left an opening
ya know, you're right, however, they both seemed to move pretty calm and patiently. just a beautiful sport to watch i'm recently finding out.
Really good initial take down. Both good players...
That sticky toe to single leg takedown was brilliant at the start 😊
He was setting him up for that.. great submission. 👊🏾
It’s like the Fool’s Mate in chess.
Once he passed it was all over. Great finish.

I missed it. Not a bjj player; how does this choke work? Homeboy was almost lights out!
It's a blood choke. Im pretty much cutting off the blood supply to the brain because I'm constricting the space around his neck.
