    After 7 years your video still helping out. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to wire just a 2 wire rocker, even though your video was 3 wire, you explained about the double neutral being for the light and isn't necessary for 2 wire. I could not find any other video to explain this as precisely as yours. Thanks

    I don't know why I didn't consider using spade connectors, I soldered all my connections. your method is safer and easier to take apart! Thanks

    Great video sir! Been looking for one that was this straightforward. Working with electricity can be very daunting if not fully educated. This helped solve one of the biggest questions for my build.

    Nice video, only suggestion I would make would be to test with a multimeter the end of the wire going to the device you are powering to make sure all of your connections are good and no shorts.

    Great! simple and clean, I can't explain better... only thing i don't understand it's the rocker switch it's just place without retain? personally I use a "tube cutter" slower but safer (for my finger lol) then use normal cutter on power cable

    This is a great video! It's giving me some ideas. Can you recommend any tutorial that would demonstrate how to use this method with the line 6 hx stomp pedal?
    Also, it might be prudent to have the wiring contained in a metal box.

    Hi John great video… I’m a solo musician and have all my cables in a rack case…
    Rather than open the case It be great to have the power C14 on the outside with a switch as seen in your video…. So could I have a 4 socket power board going to that one c14 ? I’m from ireland so the current is different than the US

    • @Creationmusiccompany
      @Creationmusiccompany  11 месяцев назад

      It would be different with the voltage over there as it’s all 120v here. However, if I understand you correctly, then yes. I’ve wired little 3-5 outlet power strips to this sort of setup many times. Just make sure the switches and connectors you use can handle the amp load needed for the power strip as it’s usually a heavier gauge wire drawing more current.
      To be clear, I am not a licensed electrician. Any answer I give is purely for discussion and only speculation.

  • @MorleyRobertson1975
    @MorleyRobertson1975 4 года назад

    Only one problem. You used 18-22 awg connectors on 16 awg wire. They may not be rated for the amp draw your power supply as they are typically only rated for 7A.

    Thank you very much for this. Very well done video! I have a question about the number of power supplies you can connect to the same switch? For example, I have 2 power supplies one 4X4 voodoolab and 1 ISO 5 .

    • @Creationmusiccompany
      @Creationmusiccompany  Год назад +1

      In that situation, I would rehoming wiring a dual plug cable to the switch.
      A better solution honestly is to use a power supply with a courtesy outlet, like the Monod or PP2+ and just link them with a short ac cord. OR, a lot of the newer power supplies like the Strymon ones, like with a 24v connector. One power supply can link up to 9 total in their ecosystem. I'm a big fan of this.

    I bought one of these IEC plugs with a switch attached but theres no wiring connecting them. The switch has 4 lugs instead of 2. So Im guessing its to interrupt both power and ground, is that right? How do I wire it up? Co tinuity test the switch lugs? Cant tell if they ground and power are paired off with the top and bottom lugs or the left and right lugs. Please help! Thank you!

    Thanks for this video. However, the power station has a 3-prong inlet which this type of wiring supports. How should asian type of power station, with a 2-prong plug be wired, using the same IEC sockect and switch?

    • @Creationmusiccompany

      I'm honestly not sure on this. I typically don't use power supplies that aren't 3 prong.

      +Geronimo Mejia I'm with you on this. I took a look at their website to see if there was more information. I didn't really find much but from the pics it looks like it might be a pressure fit type switch. Still unsure what size hole is needed and if a recessed lip is needed or not to secure it in place. creationmusiccompany.com/illuminated-round-rocker-power-switch/

      did we ever get an answer for this?

    • @fernfawkes
      @fernfawkes 8 лет назад

      It's a pressure-fit housing. There's two "ears" that sort of compress as you slide it in and that keeps it in place. It's pretty solid. I've bought a few and there's no screws, but no issues with falling out if the hole is drilled properly.

    • @johnhorning2506
      @johnhorning2506 7 лет назад

      Just use calipers to measure the diameter without the pressure fit "ears" then drill that sized hole. I then had to still file some small groves for the ears, not too much because they need pressure. But then they just press snugly in. No screws required.

    • @Creationmusiccompany
      @Creationmusiccompany  7 лет назад +1

      Mitchell Heinricks We use a router and a template to recess the front (larger part) of the IEC into the frame. For the back half we just drill 2 holes that overlap each other and then file the middle of those to make it even. If you don't recess it and just surface mount it, you can just drill for the back half.

    Will this work for a power supply that has a regular dc cord? similar to a daisy change cord. I'm not sure if I strip it if I will have the 3 wires, it looks thin... I have a COWEEN DC Tank with 6 Isolated 9V DC Output with DC Cable.

    • @Creationmusiccompany
      @Creationmusiccompany  8 лет назад

      No. you'll be pulling AC current from the wall, not DC. What you could do is wire in a single Edison plug (american wall outlet type) to the inside. We sell a 12" one. Then you could plug the power supply into it. You're need the power supply to convert AC to DC
