Dr. Jain needs to be lauded for a clear, unemotional academic presentation of the topic of Islamic Iconoclasm in India. However, even if the Almighty Lord Shiva were to convince our "fiberal" establishment, their response would still be the same....It never happened!! That is what is amazing and frustrating. Chacha Nehru, in creating the ecosystem he did while we were trying to come out of abject poverty, screwed us all, all the time wearing that little red rose on his lapel.

Reminds me of the campaign of Afzal Khan against Shivaji is interesting.
Afzal Khan with a large army marched against Shivaji.
Shivaji moved to Pratapgad a hill fort surrounded by dense forests.
Knowing that it would be difficult to capture or kill Shivaji when he was lodged in Pratapgad, Afzal Khan destroyed temples including those of Shivaji’s family deity, the Bhavani mata at Tulzapur.
    Shivaji refused to be baited.
He sent a “mercy petition”, to the Khan, lured him to the foothills of Pratapgad, they had a meeting, and the Khan had his intestines torn out and his head cut off, his corpse languishes near to where he fell.
If only the other Hindus had dealt with the iconoclasts the way Shivaji did as against being fixated with moorties and their temples. (See Dr. Jain’s talk titled “Flight of deities” for context)

Kulottunga Chola 2: Thrown the Image of Govinda raja swami into the sea which used to be in the Chidambaram temple complex. It is because he is Shaivite and hates Vaishnavism. He is the one Who blinded Kuratt-Alwar a devotee of Vishnu and disciple of Ramanujacharya. He tried to kill Ramanujacharya. He is named as Krimikantha in Vaishnava texts.
But I also acknowledge that Chola rulers constructed Gopurams in Tirupati, Sri Rangam etc.

Taking away a murti is not abusing the sacred in history. For example in Odisha the Gajapati King Prataprudra avenged his honor by defeating the Kanchipura king in the South and brought Sri Kanchi Ganesh and Goddess Tarini. These are being worshipped. The 1st is even now in the Puri Temple of Jagannath. So no invasion of temple either for desecration or for loot of riches. This loot tradition is foreign to the Hindu culture.

There are thousands of odia litreture describing about how jaganath murti was hided from invaders. Even murti was kept under a tree for years. What these leftists are talking about? There are thousands of horror stories how people died saving their temples and dieties. One general of mughal only have destroyed 18000 temples in odisha. Even puri jaganath temple was rebuilt in 1100 ad.

The Athi Vardar of Kanchi is another example
Athi Vardar is a 2500 year old murti of Vishnu made from the fig tree
To save the murti from the cancer spreading barbaric scums the murti was hidden in a chamber in the temple
Ever since then the Murti is brought out for public worship for 48 days only once in 40 years
Many millions of people, including the PM and President of India had the opportunity to view the Athi Vardar murti this year
Next time it'll be open for public is in the year of 2059!!
