- A quick comparison of the several visual overhauls of Half Life 1 from 1998. While Half Life Ray Traced is a visual redux, mods like Black Mesa are a complete rebuilding of the game from within the Source Engine.
Which version do you prefer?
Welcome back! Hope you’re feeling well, I know everybody here is happy to see you doing better even if little by little!!
Hey dude! Good to see another post from you. I hope you're feeling better!
i like the look of the test chamber better in rtx, the black mesa laser looks too weak for something that's supposed to be capable of creating a portal to another dimension
I honestly think it's too strong in the Ray Traced mod.
I disagree, it's overly washed out and obscures the scene. The black mesa one could maybe be a bit brighter but to me it represents a concentrated energy that is so dense it only glows in it's immediate area.
@@svenrawandreloaded there are handheld laser pointers that fill an entire room with blindingly bright light, i feel like it makes sense for something millions of times more powerful to fill an even bigger room in the same way, i understand that it's not the best for visibility and game design but it is more realistic, denser and more concentrated energy glows brighter
Happy to see your doing better. Can’t wait for future content!
God the blackmesa team did an incredible job
Half Life 1998 will aways have the best gfx for me, because I was a gamer before the advent of 3DFX cards. The jump to 3DFX from 2d sprites like Doom was a quantum leap.
Everything about HL98 was a masterpiece and a milestone in gaming. For me, it was the gaming equivalent of breaking the sound barrier.
I agree completely.
@@StudioMod How did you feel the first time you got to fire that Colt Python? "POWWW POWWW!"
@@garethjohnstone9282 Best weapon in the game... and stapled my love for Colt Pythons, the most beautiful firearm in the world imo.
@StudioMod Same here. I bought a replica blank firing (Gun laws are strict here in the UK..we can't own blank firers anymore) Colt Python because of HL.
I opted for black instead of chrome.
They don't look too big in games, but in RL, they're a hefty chunk.
I had a blank firing Desert Eagle, too. Those things are enormous. Adrian Shepherd had one in opposing forces.
Now, gunwise, all I have is a replica Pulse rifle from the film 'Aliens'.
@@garethjohnstone9282 Living in the US, I had the opportunity to fire one and jeeeez, .357 kicks like a bull. My wrists felt like they were vibrating for hours after just a single run of 6 rounds. They are certainly not that fun to fight if you have thin wrists like I do. And they are quite, quite loud. Still, the look and polish on Colt Pythons is something to be admired.
And that's very cool to hear; the Pulse Rifle from Aliens is an incredibly cool replica to have. The Smart Gun and the Pulse Rifle are so insanely iconic that to have either would be quite a treat.
3:31 Prettu damn cool you can see Gordon's shadow here.
Half-Life is so good that they made a graphically improved sequel to it, wait....
Wish they'd release the remake and RTX remaster on consoles
Hey man, how are you feeling? Nice to see you again
The graphics have improved a lot lately.
Wow this is great
Holy shit, Xen in the Black Mesa mod looks breathtaking, I didn't even know this was a thing. Definitely gonna check it out now
Even better is that there's mods that make it closer to the original, so you can have a truly unfiltered HL:S experience
Eh imo it’s too pretty. It looks more like pandora than Xen to me
@@joshuawilliams9247 What's interesting is that Interloper looks more like Xen than Xen does. And Half Life Alyx supports this.
