EA Sports needs to take 1-2 years and rebuild everything from the ground up. There are animations from NHL 07 still in here. NHL games need to be amazing again
They would never bro
They don’t have any competition
They monopolized the market so they wouldnt have to care as much about gameplay

It is criminal

Almost? Well said man. Fuck EA all day.
maybe you and other top NHL youtubers/streamers need to be 100% honest with EA and tell them to stop producing shit games in recent years and listen to the fans. Maybe this way something will change
Yeah this guy is clearly a shill
What about the first person??
@@khall187 and they sold out. so they can get comfy to EA and make more money. im not buying this year. im waiting for it to come on game pass and not giving them a dollar. im done with this shit game
The first year I'm skipping since 94. There's absolutely zero justification for buying this game. I was really expecting a lot more and the few changes they made, I don't like. To have the audacity to ask for $99 for the exact game I already own is just jaw dropping.
Last one I bought was NHL 20. Why does EA have no competition? I refuse to buy their products anymore.
@@comgeturs last one for me was 18
99$ is it that expensive in us ?
you should of skipped many years before this lol geez. this is the first year I might buy it again but yeah if you bought every year since 94.. then yes for sure you need not to buy it lol
@@hibbelton It would be, but it's $70 in the US for PS5 and $60 for PS4. I'm going to guess that guy is Canadian.
I'm strictly an offline mode player. As long as the AI improvements ACTUALLY work, and don't get destroyed by the eventual tuners (like they usually do), then I'm good with everything that has been added. As for the desperation moves, it's relieving to hear that it's not gonna seem something that will be exploited by the computer AI. Hopefully there's also a slider setting, otherwise it's just gonna get adjusted at the whims of the devs.
Fellow offline mode player here! 100% agree
Being a offline player I hope we get more stuff for create a team and presentation for that
@@justinganz1173 same, but realistically, I doubt we'll get more than MAYBE some new celly animations (I think I saw one new team one in the trailer). But considering Nasher said it feels kinda samey for the online version (which is where EA makes their money, and therefore worries about more) then I highly doubt we'll get anything substantial this time around. Fingers crossed, though. I do hope they extend upon Be a Pro, though. Last year was refreshing, even if it did get repetitive after your rookie year. But that's been an issue in most of the sports games.
i play offline majority of the time and i wish the tech test had offline modes
The bullshit hasnt changed since 15…it will be no different…
Nasher, your feedback is always appreciated.
But personally I can’t justify buying 23 with small tweaks and new features. I’m with the majority of players who are fed up and frustrated with EA NOT DELIVERING what the fans want and waiting an entire year to fix clear cut issues like faulty AI, atrocious goaltending, Ice Tilt (YES, ICE TILT). EA has ruined the game for most people or just underperformed. I wish 2k would be able to get the rights to NHL games back. It’s time for a change.
While I do agree that EA sucks and haven't bought an NHL or Madden game for years, AI is one of the most difficult things to program so thinking they can just fix that easily in a patch is kinda silly.
the worst part about 22 is that most of the issues are actually fixable or sliders and they won't adjust them lol..
@@ninetailedfox579121 but my argument still stands, if they actually cared about fixing issues, they wouldn’t wait an entire year…
He gets paid to pump EA’s tires
It's so sad that 2K couldn't stay afloat in NHL. It's a shame hockey isn't as big a seller as NBA, because imagine if they had the money and resources to put into an NHL game that would have eventually been like what NBA is today (franchise customization, insanely in depth 'Be-A-Pro' mode, a MyTeam with actually good content, etc.). 2K has their flaws, sure, but as a casual fan I'm amazed when I jump in NBA and actually recognize and feel different players as different players.
EA NHL is literally embarrassing.
As much as we love our hockey and the NHL games, it's about time we all boycotted in protest for a year...force them to start delivering what we deserve after years and years of loyalty
havnet played or bought a game since 17 and 18 season and dont plan on buying a single item from ea sports with the way they rig there games to play and always give the better stuff to the contracted workers that are paid to play. boycott is a given being the worst company in the world!!!!
you can't trust EA, but you can trust EA to do EA things. remember how great the first few weeks of 22 was? you can expect the same rugpull this year. the fact that they've only just now fixed the things that fundamentally broke 22 is baffling. they should've patched that noise last year. this is the standard EA copypasta, year after year. it's so embarassing that I've deliberately left out the name of the sport or the league in this comment because it's my favourite sport and having this trash company make the official videogame hurts my soul. I can't justify giving these turds even a cent of my money any longer, on principle alone. might see ya'll in 24 if they actually put in the work. til then I'll quietly play other games made by great studios and await the rage comments when people lose their minds yet again, the same way leaf fans somehow expect different results every year.
A year? I haven’t bought nhl new in almost 20 years and bought any version since 16 or 17
I've abandoned them completely for Eastside hockey manager and barely look back at all
I’m doing it. Tired of EA milking sports fans
as someone who played over 50 games on the beta and max leveled it with all perks. The game runs way better when you get all the perks you want but as a d man it doesn’t seem consistent at all sadly and yes I agree spamming pokes is good to be nerfed but it’s just too much I feel can’t even swing the stick around without slowing down , which imo just made playing defense alittle boring but I dunno just a beta , things will change but just wanted more NEW features for a NEW game the last chance thing was okay I guess but again just another new feature for offense really handicapped defense and goalies this year for way more goals to be going in I feel I dunno
I dunno

Yep. It will be $30 bucks on Black Friday.
I grabbed the bundle on sale yesterday! I do it the same way every year and I’m always excited to play!!
Saying I was disappointed would be an understatement. The AI D were atrocious. The AI goalies are a joke. Their big gameplay "additions" weren't used once in the 15 games I played. This will be the first chel I don't get since my first in 07.
Do u have any gameplay is there a reason I can’t find any online ?
@@dmacg5520 I’d imagine there will be an NDA during beta with it being “in progress”
Yup, the AI is awful. The goalies sometimes cover for absolutely no reason, I've even had a goaltender score on himself while in control of the puck. The defence is infuriating, and makes be a pro unbearable to play.
@@aidendessler538 yea the goaltending was by FAR the absolute worst i've ever seen. Damn near every shot was going in. it was pretty hard to enjoy playing
@@giocalabrese8857 very true. I've had all star goaltenders not be able to stop a slow back hand from pretty far away. They also don't know how to handle rebounds. They just let it sit there for the player to shoot into the wide open net, instead of just poking it away
This was literally the 22 technical test with better passing before they ruined everything for the launch game. This is not worth full price and I will not be paying full price for this game. Honestly I think EA needs to stop the yearly releases, take their time, make an incredible game then treat it as a live service game, think about we have something crazy like the Pond, like 2k’s park, where you can roll up and play drop in games, that would be sick, they could make ultimate team so much better, allowing players to customize their own arenas and jerseys and so on, they could make huge changes to NHL be a pro to be like an actual career mode outside of just cutscenes, Franchise they could do so much more and make the game an incredible game that they don’t need to worry about creating a new game every year, they just maintain, update, add new content to the game. Allowing the DEV team to work on the next new game, while another team maintains and keeps the current game fun, exciting and so on. I know CHEL doesn’t have a huge budget like the other sports games but man that’s even more of a reason to take 3 years to make a new game from scratch, from the ground up and make an insane hockey game that will be talked about for years to come. Just my thoughts honestly but yearly sports games are just not it anymore because like you said Nash, this is the most copy and paste I’ve ever seen this year.
Yearly releases of sports games has to die soon. The model of changing 2 small things a year with a roster update is the biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen. Right up there with pay to win mobile games. People who buy Madden/NHL/FIFA every year have an addiction straight up
I'm going to tell you the things I ABSOLUTELY hated and KINDA liked. The first few seconds of the video tells me the game pretty much sucks lol
I won't be buying the new game for the first time in over 15 years. The beta is quite literally NHL 22 with a tuner update. No new celebrations. No new hits. Same skating. Same shooting. Same menu. Their big additions are useless. EA is an absolute joke.
I'm surprised it took you this long to realize that. I've been a diehard fan since the mid 90als. But around 2014/15 I stopped buying them yearly , maybe every 2 years but now I don't think I've bought one since 19.
NHL22 was NHL21, literally
@@Oldmanflyfishing that's basically every year. If you buy one of the games and then wait 3-5 years , by that time there might be JUST enough to justify spending more money
I played one game in the Tech test……not liking all the offense and the goalies seem shaky….glad they toned down the poke but seems they messed it up more …really was like playing the same exact game .
I actually went back to 21’ after playing 22’ for a few months and I actually prefer 21’ personally. Aside from the new graphics in 22’ I feel like, the game play was better in 21’.
I couldn’t go back to 21, the cross creases were way to strong, AI defence was brain dead and the 22 X factor addition is actually a blast to play with
It was better
I’m sticking to 21. Let’s play, Weizboy on Xbox. 😁 add me
And I totally agree with you! The gameplay in 21 was the best! Only thing that sticks out to me are passing, its glitched. And not accurate. the passing is slow like the puck separates from the stick way too slowly when making a pass, that delay is just obvious and bad. Also, there is no true one timer passing. And the incomplete one timer passing system, so much more I can bring up. But at least fix the passing accuracy, and the game would be tolerable. But overall it’s the better game. So why is nasher smiling talking about nhl 23? Stop being a tool nasher. Smash the game and help make a change because you are part of the problem. Plain and simple.
Asked my friend what game nasher was playing in this video with out him knowing the game, and he literally said nhl 20. Just shows how EA is only about the money and doesn’t care if there game is almost exactly the same as last years, but 60 dollars more
22 plays different from previous games though. Defense and goaltending are vastly better and feels different.
It's the same thing with Madden, FIFA, and now F1 since they've touched it. They manage to microtransaction it to death and make it a $60+ roster update. I don't think 2K does a good job with the way they run NBA 2K microtransactions either but at least it has a PC version and there was a good game under there still.
I've been buying this game yearly since 94.. but since a couple years, im just waiting for the game to go half-price... ain't paying for a full game when it's only a roster update. Maybe not even this year since it just looks like NHL 21 with a patch.
Christmas time!! Always on clearance
Yearly since 94? Damn dude, did you lose money during the pandemic? Or was it the crypto crash? Can't argue with your logic, I'm from that era so I understand your position, can't be blowing that funeral money on videogames... although, for me it would cost me more than the price of the game to update all the rosters, my rate has increased a lot since '94.
Sorry to hear your time has not. Good luck brother.
P.S. Check out "Sky Burial" That's how I'm affording NBA2k this year. When I feel the end coming, I'll just open the windows and let the buzzards pick me clean. ( also how I afforded my new laptop! )

22 plays different from 21. Defense and goaltending are vastly better.
It's NHL 22 with a tuner update. Same menu. Same hitting. Same visuals. Same commentary. No new celebrations. AI D&G are honestly worse. The "additions" are not useful or practical. Nobody should waste their money on this game & I mean that wholeheartedly.
It's tragic that we haven't had new celebrations since NHL 16

I do like some of the changes. As someone who plays defense in woc, I like that the poke checks are more realistic and can't be abused for speed. As nasher mentioned though, these kind of changes seem like easy little things that could be done on a tuner/update. EA always trying to sell basic, lazy things as the big new features. I mean cross play isn't even going to be ready at launch. Brutal lol.
to be honest ea did had a botch year their 2 highest selling games(sports)(fifa and madden) were not well received, madden graphic somehow got worse and fifa feels the exact same, so basically the same thing for nhl, tho there is a few more features that could be fun but basically same game, but in nhl 24 the addition from 23 and 24 should be enough to be new. BTW ea are still like pretty good for their games but to change the menu every year is not that hard, honestly just one dude working on it for like a year is more than enough
@@laurentdubois2904 Well said. I would actually be a proponent of EA sports releasing their sports games bi-yearly instead of every year. That way they could spend more time fixing their current game (making player rating more accurate, more in-depth game modes, better graphics etc.), while also having more time to work on the new game. Hopefully NHL 23 has some improvements we can all enjoy. Cheers!
@@MooseBruce What are their employees doing on their working hours? Thats the question. The game is getting more expensive every year but the game improves less and less every year. YO MOOSE ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR CONTENT YO.
Honest truth about every EA sports game made over the last 10 years:
It's just a re-release of the previous years game except with new menus and more bugs
Maybe pick it up when the price drops to $20 or less in a couple months
I just find it crazy that one of their biggest selling points is crossplay. Quite honestly this should have been in the game last year and the fact it’s not coming out until November is crazy to me. Why release the game if it’s obviously not ready to be released. Oh wait it’s EA and all they care about is the dollar. They literally release a patch worth 90$ every year.
Ask yourself this…
If you are a strictly offline player, what is the appeal to buy the game?
If you answered “probably nothing I play hut anyway”, is 1 game mode (where the gameplay gets updated twice a year) worth the money?
What your describing isn't just an EA problem. It's the Video Game industry in general problem. That started with FPS, and sports game quickly followed and has since spread to other genres as well.
Us fans (and am speaking abouy video game consumers as a whole here) became so demanding about releases, and updates and wanting stuff sooner and more DLC that the company's started to take short cuts in order to make those demands. And at first nobody really said anything about it because it was new and it seemed like it was what we wanted. And games were still changed enough from installment to installment that it wasn't samey yet.
Then games started being pushed too early and having the first month become basically what Betas used to be. But at the time we were just happy it was a quick response to problems. But then it became normal and we just accepted it.
And slowly each time that sloppy habits became normal and accepted and it's now gotten to the point where it's blaring obvious that new games are basically just a Major Patch amd nothing really new.
It's not like they company has to pay purduction costs to have brand new disc's made with the new patches on it when something shipped wrong the first back when there was no way to remotely patch games and company's have gotten lazy and rely on the crutch too much.
@@devinaschenbrenner2683 these companies are just lazy, greedy, have no creativity and want to save new features for later years so put out a half ass game
I care about game modes. When I see what they did with be a pro and franchise mode it’ll tell me whether I should buy or wait for a sale, I don’t play online cuz I can truly care less about that and if there’s no difference I’ll be extremely pissed
Lets hope they are working on 24 right now and the reason they added basically nothing is so nhl 24 can be insane
That's what I tell myself every year lol
NHL 19 had some nice tweaks and was an overall solid game. NHL 20 sucked. NHL 21 was good. NHL 22 was kinda bad but it did give us roster sharing at least. NHL 23 looks like it will be really bad aswell
As someone who loves NHL and used to grind during the good days, it really is sad we have come to the point where they drop new games with the same exact feel as the previous year and all they do is make a few tweaks we cried about the previous year which they coulda done in a patch and we are happy.
The sad reality is NHL will never be good until another company makes a hockey game and pushes them away from the NHL scene. Their time has come and gone, NHL 14 was the peak and it has gone severely down hill since then.
I have no hope in this game anymore
I miss 14 man. Still talk to some guys I used to play with. Draft lobbies were so fun.
Was that the the app? Like what happened to that lol
@@canuckcityvan6043 I didn't use the app. Just met a bunch of people and would go into the lobbies and had drafts every day. Such a solid community back then. Dunno why EA took out those regional lobbies.
I've been playing NHL 14 on my PC with a PS3 Emulator at 1080p 60FPS. It's glorious.
I disagree with poke checks. Why would holding out your stick affect how fast a player can move. There should be an initial pause for the action of poking forward, but after that you should be able to skate without restriction while holding it
It’s an obstruction in passing lanes holding your stick out freely like that…coaches literally teach players to do it…it being something that puts your player in quicksand is BS
The frostbite engine is really good, the problem is they are essentially just porting previous games forward each year and modifying. The big changes we all want, or just a completely different gameplay mechanic overhaul just aren't possible without starting from the ground up coding wise (GM Connected prime example). This would be lots of time, and lots of money, compared to how they operate now. The rise of micro transactions makes the developer not keen to do these ground ups, as there is little to no incentive, especially when you own the license to a sports league and no one is allowed to put out a competitor. Sadly this is the state of EA NHL, and most sports games, so not copping.
Just look up Frostbite videos with Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA, Anthem and Mass Effect. You will find multiple videos explaining exactly how Frostbite directly ruined those games. It's a terrible engine that limits the devs and is far more difficult to use than needed.
My favourite thing is watching Nasher casually bury these unreal shootout goals without missing a word in his sentence LMAO
they need to make offline modes better

It's nhl 22 re-skinned. I did the tech test, played one game of EASHL and that was it for me.

In the description it says that he's playing nhl 20... even youtube thinks that it's the same game every year...
it’s actually insane, it’s just a patch for most games but ea wants $90
I havent bought an NHL game at full price since 2017 and dont even buy them at half price anymore when do have a sale every black friday . Just tired of the recycled content they have and them back pedaling and taking stuff out and never make changes to anything or adding customization options like simply with jersey logos or designs for creating teams . It is 2022 like these games should just be packed with content that fans scream for every year but dont get it like Online GM mode but nope still its solely focused on HUT only and making money off that .
GM connected every fan wants but nope.
I'm usually an EA apologist, I defend the game every year and always preorder and rave about how whiny the community is
But this year is just fucking BAD. I know everyone complains about "Ice tilt" every year but this game genuinely feels like there's less actual skill involved than ever before. I can watch my opponent skate through 4 guys and miraculously hold on to the puck, but oh thank god I can't cross crease it anymore am I right? Defense is borderline impossible in this game, the puck control in it's current state is way too overpowered, there should be no reason I have to throw out multiple pokes just for the CHANCE to be able to retrieve it in a loose battle. That's not even mentioning the automatic penalty button that is the stick lift. That move has been my bread and butter for years, and i have had THREE successful stick lifts so far. It's genuinely an 80% chance of a penalty just touching the damn thing. The collisions this year are just unrealistic too. You mean to tell me that my defender can put his fucking hand on me and give me a light shove, but my professional hockey player who's dedicated his fucking life to the sport can't stand up on his two feet? How about we talk about the defensive skill stick skating? I get it, EA doesn't want people spamming it. But congrats, it's fucking useless now. I don't think I've used it once tbh. Why would I purposefully make my player skate in cement just so I can watch my stick go through the puck? Lastly, I understand cross-creases have been an issue, but holy fuck if my opponent is leaving it wide open all game, surely I should be able to score a few times right? I don't know about you guys but these past few games in HUT im just letting my opponent cross crease it because I know for a fact it won't go in
I play mostly offline, really wish we could finally get some new presentations, franchise and Be a Pro updates/features. Would love espn graphics now that they have hockey again.
But looks like same ol EA, minor changes and more HUT stuff
Always ultimate team shit. Never any career/franchise mode upgrades.
I've been enjoying the Franchise Hockey Manager series on PC more than EAs NHL. It's got 1000x more content if you're into being GM. The historical mode is priceless.
Forwards are ALWAYS rewarded, though. Defensemen like me keep getting screwed over in things like this.
That's the truth. I play both forward and D which means I have to play D if I'm playing with anyone else. I actually prefer defense but we do get screwed because some people don't feel like the game is fun unless you're putting up football scores. That being said, even though we do get screwed, the difference between a decent team and a really good team is their defense. I need the goalie to stop allowing glitch goals. They need to make the shooting more of a dice roll between the shooter and the goalie. Goals that go 90% of the time don't exist in real hockey. Also, the goalies need to stop giving up the short side when I have the cross crease covered. They need to understand what I'm taking away so that they can play better positionally and reduce the garbage short side.
Do we finally get hats on the ice when we score a hat trick?
Not gonna lie, the graphics update in 22 was pretty substantial, but that novelty wore off pretty quickly.
I don’t really see anything new in 23 that makes it worth buying though
The closing segment is quite deep, and a position that I don't take very often, where you acknoledge the challenges to put in place a solid and reliable game, cross play, etc.
honestly Nasher they need CM Connected back!
The fact that they didnt let you play any single player modes says a novel's worth. Like, multiplayer is only half of the audience. FIX FRANCHISE MODE and for god's sake ALLOW BE A PRO TO REACH IT'S POTENTIAL!!!!
Heres a idea, call it NHL Infinite, then have small patches all year and a bigger patch once every year. Unfortunately EA are greedy and only thinks of the money they would lose doing this! Great video as usual🔥
Bruh if it was called NHL Infinite it’d have a season delayed like 3 times lol

It’s good to see your opinions about this game, I didn’t like it tbh some features I liked . But overall I didn’t like it
This franchise is capped. They should just make these games every 3-5 years
I’m very disappointed now i was looking forward to seeing the game play but ea just had to ruin. Looks like I’m going to have to wait another year to see if they bring back the score and time in the top corner
They still have the same goalie helmets since I can remember.
Nasher, I love your videos whether you are playing a video game or playing with the Columbus Heat! I'm glad to see you representing Ohio well. (I'm from Cincinnati) keep up the awesome content man!
people just can’t accept that ea is not gonna be good again until another company makes an nhl game. until that happens, they are just gonna copy and paste the previous game, fix the biggest issue of last game but then break something that was working just fine last game, they’ll be in the office for 1 week, release the game and make 1 or 2 patches and then leave for a year. no effort or nothing despite the fact that they have the capability to make a great hockey game
I'm excited for nhl 24 i feel like this game will be a good bassline for it.
That’s what people say every year tho

Probably Madden lol. I remember when hockey games were worth getting excited over
Keep up the great content for Nasher
DDA/Scripting, basically cheating for the inferior opponent, is by far the the worst feature in these ea nhl games. That feature is definitely not changing!
The boards literally say NHL 22

There are animations in this game that were in NHL 07. That's like NHL 07 having the same animations as a hockey game made in 91.
more EASHL content in nhl 23 pleeeeeaaaaaassssseeeeeee. Do like sunday night game nights or something.
All EA needs to do is put it on PC so I can play it. Not buying a console for 1 game
As shitty as this game is, you dont want it on pc trust me
I haven't played since 20 and I love this game. It's very refreshing. Some gripes but overall great.
What headset is that? Need a new one, the Corsair ones I have are starting to wear down
Poke checks were already so fucking tough to do without getting a trip, this news sucks. Hopefully that's something that get fixed so we can play defense realistically and not be slow while poking
It always cracked me up that my stick coming into contact with another players knee or upper leg trips them. Have they never watched an NHL game? Players skate through incidental stick contact on almost every play. But EA makes them into the olympic diving team. I never liked skating while holding out a poke check. It looks ridiculous and isn't realistic in some scenarios. But.....If I'm in a full speed back skate and drifting, holding out my stick to take up a shooting or passing lane shouldn't slow me down. Now, when you hold out your stick it slows you in every situation. They can't seem to figure out how to make it work without completely screwing either the defender or the forward.
@@crossefire01 fr it's not that hard if they were just halfway good at their jobs
Is the X factor edition available for ore order on a disc or do I have to download it to my system
"That's what makes the game fun" in regards to defense being harder? We can't even contest around the net without a penalty already in 22!!! I played the playtest and it's egregious what they're calling a new game. There's still no ability to play defense and we're already getting double digits on people in 22. Why the HELL would we want more of that?
Also PGA 2K23 is gonna be pretty good i think. Will play that more then NHL for sure.
Genuinely cannot blame this guy for taking 3 months, because the wait was worth it. Good work man.
They need to do something like 2k where career and world of chel are combined
I have a funny recommendation when the sabres manage to get to the playoffs. When they go to the playoffs sim a whole season until you go to the playoffs. (Trading allowed)
The same crap happens in 23 as it currently does in 22. If you don’t have Close Quarters and One Tee equipped, good luck scoring on a consistent basis. This Frostbite Engine is the worst NHL engine I have ever played. NHL 22 is still my least favorite NHL and I’m not going to make the mistake of buying a carbon copy of it this year!
Frostbite is horrible, why did NHL and FIFA become so clunky and awkward the second they switched to it
*HONEST QUESTION* Would anyone be fine if they just made tuner and patch updates to NHL 22 until the year 2025, and then in 2025, they release a very polished NHL game that they worked on for 3 years and started from the ground up? If every year is just going to be the same game with barely anything new about it *FOR ONLY $79.99 PLUS TAX* , then I can wait 3 years. Then when they release NHL 25, I'd finally feel at least something. SOMETHING!
Last nhl I bought was 19. Still hesitant to get this one.
And can’t we tweak the goalie difficulty in settings to get that score more realistic?
I play RD. If making the defense harder does that mean it makes the offense easier?
It is also the buyers fault, who continues to promote and accept this nonsense from EA. stop buying the games and they will have to fix it.
What camera view are you using? Does anyone know what camera view this is
Mine didn’t work sadly signed up for the tech test and never got my code same thing happened last year really sucks ea isn’t able to fix that
People just need to not buy this game, force them to actually update the game and make them add everything the fans want
Year 6 of hoping that EA added Rostislav Nasherov to the pre added names ☠️☠️
How did you guys play the beta?
So I play Be a Pro only. I'm not really interested in the other mods and certainly not in the p2w aspect of the game.
I was super hyped when they revamped the Be a Pro mode only to be utterly confused when this was only implemented for the rookie regular season. Even though the caller got repetitive super quickly, playoffs should have been on another excitement level.
The decision making for this franchise has been bonkers and I'm off the cool-aid. I still see the same coding error (own defense man scoring own goal by skating past the goaltender) I've seen years ago . Hurray to making new animations for winning the Stanley Cup... it's been how many years of waiting for this one overhaul?
Another year of saving money... do better next time.. or not... .
How do you know the information
They destroyed playing defense any time you press R1/RB. Player slows down & can’t turn around in time & it’s a breakaway every time.
Impossible to make up for it by body checking to fill that void. Just doesn’t do the same thing in all open ice situations. Holding down RB/R1 gave you that extra range to cover someone that’s now nonexistent.
Stick lift is an automatic penalty & less effective overall even in no penalty modes like 3’s I noticed too.
Unless EA comes out with a patch/update to fix this, I will be saving my money.
I think that makes defense balanced so people stop spam poking and in turn, people would only poke in smart spots and there would be less tripping
NHL is by far the worst looking and worst playing of any AAA sports game. Shameful that a giant company like EA is incapable of having a product that can replicate the sport unlike others they produce. Not even improving simple things like skating andAI defense. What did they do all year? Oh thats right, they wanted to add another gimmick gameplay feature that can be in a couple trailers. Absolute travesty. EASHL used to be the one mode all friends could play with and have a real squad. Trying to get into D1 and win playoff games was the highlight of the series... now I've skipped 2 years in a row and have no interest in getting this game. Maybe they should just throw AM34 on the cover again, thatll sell copies!!
It's because the NHL division of EA is by far the smallest. They hardly put in any effort to these games. And the sad thing is, even if people quit buying them to show them we want more for our money, they'll probably just close the NHL division permanently
Is this available for pc?
I played about 5 games, then I uninstalled the beta. I've preordered the game every year for almost two decades. Sad what they've done to this once amazing franchise. I want it to be great so badly. Something has to change.
I really wish a decent ice hockey game would come to PC, I could only imagine how fun it would be on my steam deck. These early previews always seem the same every single year...they improved this, they added this and blah blah blah. 3 months from now most people will be complaining how it's broken AGAIN.
All fancy talk excluded...is it fun? I just want a fun NHL game again, that's what I miss!
I think the "fun" part is situational. EASHL Clubs is my favorite way to play the game. If you have a good group of guys who play well and are unselfish, the game can be a ton of fun. But, at the same time, there are those games where you will want to throw your controller through your monitor. Unfortunately, there's no other hockey game that's close right now.
I mostly play offline in franchise mode but I’ve noticed this year whenever I try to change players in a game a lot of the time it’ll change to a player that I wasn’t expecting at all. Very noticeable when I’m in the defensive zone it seems to always change me to the second best man rather than a player who is involved in the play and can actually break it up. I’ve played all the games for years never noticed a change but this year something seems off. Has anybody else noticed this??
My issue is that it’s not fun playing defense anymore. I’m mainly a defensemen in EASHL and there are next to no tools to use. You can’t stick lift as it results in a hook or slash half the time. Hitting isn’t worth it as the offense has this broken L2/LT mechanic and will go right by you. Poke checking was the only defensive tool that actually worked somewhat well until people starting abusing the L2/LT mechanic. It’s sad to see her again more additions to offensive players and yet defensemen and goalie gets screwed over for another year.
If I want my player to be 6'3 what height should I start with?
Passing is way better, I did a backhand cross crease on the tape to another player but let's be honest, they broke the passing in 22 and years before we're good. Just breaking something and fixing it is enough to warrant a 80ca purchase 19.99 maybe but not enough improvement for me.
I couldn’t agree more I played the demo wasn’t impressed but I waited and just paid around 50 for it which still is alot considering but ea wanting 80-90 or more for this is absolutely insane and I truly feel bad for those who got scammed
The desperation moves happen so rarely it's as if they aren't even in the game, I saw it happen twice in 20+ games. So they put a ton of effort into something that barely even happens instead of focusing on more important things. Cross play doesn't mean anything to me as I have never had an issue getting a game, so basically the top two major things they are touting have almost no impact for the majority of players. The slowing down of players using the defensive stick is welcomed as is the ability to customize the amount of games in a season in franchise mode. Outside of that though... it really played exactly like NHL 22 and the AI skaters and goalies seemed no different to me.
The passing being super easy again isn't a good thing, yet again you will have people making super difficult passes by just launching them as hard as they can and it will land with pinpoint accuracy on the stick of the player they are aiming it towards without any type of difficulty for the user involved. May as well just let all shots go in as well regardless of the players attributes because that's how passing is again.
I havent played nhl since nhl 13 lol but nhl 09 was the best it sounds better than 23
Thing is, they didnt put a ton of effort into the desperation move. It's a pretty simple animation that's just there to sell something new. Its a minor addition that they're trying to sell like its a big innovative thing, but when you play, you see it for what it is: a minor addition.
As for the passing, I think the game should showcase the player's skills, and at the NHL level, most passes are really accurate. The real problem is the AI defense, EA never got it right, so instead they made passing harder, but it wasnt even harder, it was just dumb. You try to pass to a guy who's wide open in the slot, passing lane is clear and the guy in the slot just lets it slide to the covered Dman behind him, giving up a breakaway on the other end?? Now that people have complained EA has gone back to easy passes, but what's make it unrealistic is the defensive coverage. They only improved the defensive coverage in the slot to prevent cross pass cheesing, but didnt adress the rest, like transition defense, actual forecheck, etc. Best example of that is when you defend the AI from entering the zone. Because the player actually knows how to defend the transition, the AI starts circling back with the puck in the most unrealistic way (skating edges that defy physics, slalom from left to right until there's an opening, etc), but in reality the AI should either A. dump the puck or B. turn it over while trying to pass. It should be the same thing when its the player who has the puck, but the AI is so clueless in transition that most passes are perfect because there's no coverage. In real life, most plays die because the defenseman read the play, rarely because the player missed his pass. Now the AI defense will suck even more with the pokecheck nerf and passing will look OP, when it's actually relatively realistic.
At least make the packs contain real world items for the price of the packs that can be shipped out to people, why not do this makes the world go round with official gear and or tickets to real games? its about time ea sports and there creators actually do something that benefits the real person playing games and enough with fake imaginary over price stuff.
This year for be a pro stay on the kraken please
Game is exactly the same. Do yourself a favor and wait 2 months till it's 50% off... Which is exactly what happened with 22 (good on them for suckering in me into getting both new Gen and old gen last year, by the way)
When you have videos all about you and your "insane HUT pulls," you have to realize that YOU are part of the problem. EA has no problem releasing the same fucking game every year because they know that no matter how good the game is, the revenue will still come in because of streamers and youtubers spend $1000+ every year.
@bobi miiu you sure are. Updates that most games would simply patch for free and the big change in this years game is not even gonna be in the game at launch. It's actually insulting to hockey fans.
Is there an option for a custom season where I can play less than 82 games?
