The great piano music for this clip was played by my father-in-law, Phil Svigals who was the orchestra pianist and arranger for Sid and The Show of Shows. He was classically trained and as a young man played piano for silent movies in NY. I was thrilled to find this!
Brilliant! Thanx muchly for sharing this little gem! I miss Sid Caesar, and his Your Show of Shows. And Hollywood Palace, Ed Sullivan, and other variety shows. Thanx for showing the full skit. It's just as funny as when I saw it first-run. RIP, darling Sid, and thanx so very much for the magic, music, and memories.
Hi..Im Robin and that's my mother, Allison McKay playing Sally Treacle also , the wonderful Mickey Deems playing the manager. Allison is also "old lady" on the Yes commercial also on U-tube.
Such warmth, humanity...I admire the writing skills. Anything with Sid Caesar in it has got to be not good, but THE best. I have laughed throughout these posted clips, and actually cried I laughed so hard. Wonderfully inventive material.

Bravo to Earl Wild for that piano musical accompaniment. I was drawn to the piano from the first seconds of this sketch. Thanks polyphoniac for identifying the pianist.

Sid Ceaser is brilliant in this "silent movie". His sight gags are just brilliantly executed. Very funny.

Truly great....and, totally hilarious. I miss his genius!
Wonderful! Caesar the Great!
A take off on his original “Aggravation Blvd,” 1955 Show of Shows. Worth the view on You Tube....A true Classic...
Sid was a Genius ‼️‼️
The ending makes fun of Chaplin sentiment. I love when he's eating pasta out of a shoe.
Thanks for the upload. He had a touch of Chaplin in this sketch. And what writers!
That's none other than Earl Wild improvising the musical accompaniment at the piano.
Do you have the skit in which Sid Caesar plays an Arabian sheik in a silent film?
THAT was one of the funniest skits ever made.....I wish it were posted!
Another great one is gone. From the time when comedy was funny instead of mean, cynical, and politically correct.
what is the name of the actress who played sally treacle?
mousekateer627 Allison McKay

I’ve never understood why people
thought Chaplin was “a comic genius”. After 5 mins he was boring
and as a straight actor mediocre.
But.....many of millions of people viewed Chaplin as a comic genius. And, still do!
Bravo!
